"Is she DRUNK?? "
Lucinda Williams is a good song writer, has a nice gravely voice and can carry a tune, but her diction is terrible. She slurs her words and fades in and out like she's drunk. If she's trying to sound sexy, well, a little of that goes a long way.

I heard her on another various artist album and thought, man, this chick is on something. So I turn to this album page and listen to all her samples. They're all like that. The faster the song the better, but the slow songs are soooooooo bad. Maybe she mixed peanut butter with her honey.

"Enjoyable"
Quite a good album from Lucinda, the first track 'Real Love' I found a bit tedious, but the rest of the tracks are ok, a big improvement over 'West' which made me want to end it all. I have all her albums, 'Car Wheels' 'Sweet Old World' and 'Essence' being her best. My main problem with 'Little Honey' is Amazon offered a free download of 'Bone of Contention' when i purchased the cd from them early in October. They said the download would be available at the end of October, which was delayed and delayed, and when I finally got them to agree to letting me have it they said they had given me a refund credit to my account and i could go ahead as long as I downloaded it by November 30th, this they told me on December 11th. So I groaned and I went to download it and pay my 99c, only to find because I live in Ireland, outside USA, I am not allowed to download the song. All in all I have lost faith in Amazon.com My hope is there I will get to hear it one of these days from some kind soul. If there is anyone out there who has this track maybe you would be kind enough to let me have a listen.

"Upbeat Lucinda"
A slight change of pace in this CD from previous recent CD's. I bit more upbeat but still everything you buy a Lucinda Williams CD for.

"A return to rocking form"
After last year's West this is a return to the rocky Lucinda of earlier albums, but without losing the opportunity for introspection on the slower numbers. She also shares her humor and sense of fun on several tracks, especially the duet with Elvis Costello.
If you enjoyed Car Wheels on a Gravel Road this one is for you.

"excellent as usual"
Lucinda has done it again. Little Honey is a great cd with lots of varity and a bit more up beat than her last cd. I guess she is in love again.

"Little Honey ", What a talent for so many years - she continues to grow and expand her many talents -try to buy all her CD's you won't be dissapointed.

"More of the same ole", Lucinda Williams new CD "Little Honey" gives one a steady listen but nothing to really shout about. I was wanting something a little different from one of my favorite singer/songwriters. The best tune in my opinion is "Jailhouse Tears" and that is probably because it is a duet with "my Man" Elvis Costello. It's just more of Lucinda being Lucinda, same ole, but I guess that's Okay.

"One of the Best Albums of 2008", I've been a casual listener of Ms. Williams through the years, but since purchasing "Little Honey" a few months ago, I've had this album on constant rotation. There simply is not one bad cut on the entire disc (vinyl or otherwise), and have been turning up for my friends at parties, work and new acquaintances at stop-lights throughout Atlanta. "Jailhouse Tears" and "Honey Bee" are my favorites, if I have to list such, but I just cain't git enough.

"Lucinda's Back With Another Winner", Few people will ever accuse Lucinda Williams of having a perfect voice; it's a deceptively lazy-sounding drawl redolent of her native Louisiana. But in the thirty years she has been at this racket, she has made a very long-lasting career for herself without ever selling millions of albums, and is a critical and commercial favorite. Such things are likely to continue for her with her album LITTLE HONEY.

Once described by Linda Ronstadt, very approvingly I might add, as "a female Neil Young", Lucinda's approach has always been a very rustic mix of folk, blues, rock, and country elements--not quite mainstream popular (yet), but consistent enough; and her songs have always been quite vivid, though frequently melancholy and often quite dark. She's in a better way on LITTLE HONEY, particularly on the upbeat opening track "Real Love", and a little caustic too, as her ode to letting success go to one's head, "Little Rock Star" would indicate. And there's also her cover of AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top", which warns that a rock star life is not like a box of chocolates, in that it ain't always gonna taste good. Guesting with Lucinda on the album are former Bangles leader Susanna Hoffs, Charlie Louvin (of the legendary Louvin Brothers), and, on the country-influenced (and "R"-rated) "Jailhouse Tears", British rock uber-legend Elvis Costello.

Lucinda may always be an acquired taste in terms of voices, but her vision remains as focused as always; and that makes LITTLE HONEY one of the best albums of 2008, and a prime candidate for more awards.

"Classic Lucinda", I recently saw Lucinda Williams perform in Seattle, and she did not disappoint. I managed to get the album a week before she played here, and I played it regularly, so when she started playing songs from it, I was there and into them. This album, Little Honey, is quite good and it does not disappoint. It really isn't any better than Essence or Car Wheels On A Gravel Road, and perhaps not quite as strong as they are, but it is a very good album. What it has is variety and new songs. Many of the songs are a bit sluggish, which disappointed me somewhat, as I had heard so much about it being a full ahead rocker, but that's okay. The song that really stands out for me is "Little Rock Star." "LRS" is a serious ballad with a build much like Springsteen's "Racing In the Street," and with much the same theme. Vintage Lucinda. "Real Love" has a wonderful false start, then kicks into gear.

"Honey Bee" is a fine, house rocking, full throated shouting extravaganza. How many times can a song be written with the title "Honey Bee"? I don't know, but I'm glad she managed at least one more. Much more country on this album than in West, but with some fancy rock guitar licks. "If Wishes Were Horses," "Jailhouse Tears," and "Plan To Marry" are all very good country rock tunes with a band that just smokes. This is an album to own. Long Live Lucinda!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"not what i was expecting...", I love Lucinda's music, but I have to say this new album is really disappointing with boring and predictable lyrics.
My recommendation: listen to the tracks before buying the CD...

"Want More than a Moment or Two", I was not expecting a Lucinda Williams disk so soon after 'West' was released. I didn't even know 'Little Honey' was coming until I stumbled across a review in a Sunday paper a few days prior to its release date.

Unlike many, I really liked 'West', save a few songs. I thought it had some unique elements for a Williams disk. It was supposedly her 'sad' album, as opposed to her 'angry' album or this one, which people are calling her 'happy' disk. Whatever.

Williams sings with such conviction on any of her releases, that I don't really go for the emotional labels people & reviewers insist putting on her.

But I will say - after a month or so of playing, this disk is not grabbing me. Not entirely. It has its moments, but all of her disks have moments ('World Without Tears', anyone??). I will also say, the iPod has made full "album" listening much more difficult. I lament the loss of the needle hitting vinyl and listening to a disk song by song. Some of the issue is my time, or lack thereof.

I'm not surprised at folks like Jim Lauderdale & Elvis Costello on the disk. A little more at Matthew Sweet and much more so of Susanna Hoffs (though when you get Sweet, sometimes you get Hoffs), and then can't quite over a cover of any AC/DC song ("It's a Long Way to the Top"). It was a surprise to see a little known singer, Gia Ciambotti, from an 80's group called the Graces, doing background vocals.

As with the last few albums, Williams has some stand-outs, some ok songs and some clunkers. I love "Knowing", "Circle and X's" and "Rarity". I really like "Real Love" and "Little Rock Star" too. But in my opinion, when the songs clunk, they clunk. I'm not a fan of "Well Well Well" or "Honey Bee" - and don't get me started on that AC/DC song.

My only true problem with Lucinda's last few disks is that she is consistently inconsistent. And that is an issue I had not seen in her before 'World Without Tears'. I'm hoping she can rectify that. Like I said, all of her disks have moments - I want more than that.

"Little Honey", This is the best album Lucinda Williams has done since `Wheels on a Gravel Road' I highly recommend

"okay but not her best", this is more rock, less country. majority of tracks didn't move me, especially. her energy and enthusiasm show through, though. good to listen to occasionally. if this was an experiment for her, it was worth it.

"Disappointing", disappointing... Steel Wheels on a Gravel Road and the albums that preceded it were her oeuvre...since then it's been downer album after downer album. too bad.
