"Unfinished" I played the first one, which was really buggy but incredibly fun. This game had less bugs (1.5.05 retail patch) until towards the end of the game, where it would crash almost instantly. If you saved the game in a place that the game "didn't like," it would crash upon loading. For reference, my setup involves an AMD 6000, 3.5GB (recognized under XP, 4GB physical), Ati 4870 512MB, XP SP3, Ati 8.9 drivers. The 8.8 drivers seemed to cause the system to crash to desktop even more.
Anyway, game-play (when it's working) is absolutely incredible. Immersive, fun, challenging, visually stimulating, etc. About 80% into the game is where all the bugs showed up. That, coupled with the utterly lackluster ending (also bugged) killed the game for me (since I had expectations from the first game). I would gladly have waited another 6 months for a finished game, a finished ending and less bugs. This could easily have been a 5-star game.
Regardless of it's shortcomings, it's still a good game and I will be purchasing any future Stalker games. The plot, game-play and immersiveness are too good to pass up.
"The Bugs ruin the great game" This game is a great extension to the exciting 'Shadow of Chernobyl'. BUT, the bugs are infuriating, even after 2 update installations. Losing tasking instructions from the objectives page make it necessary to go back to the last level and sometimes to start again. Get used to the game crashing to desktop ad infinitum. This is a great shame, because when it is flowing, it is an invigorating and immersive FPS with a difference. My recommendation is to definitely buy this game, but wait until a couple more fix installations are issued.
"High expectations" I loved the first STALKER so much I had to buy this one. The graphics are maginal at best because it uses DX-10 and I was hard pressed to see mych improvement over the others graphics. The weapon customization is an awsome addition an adds replayability. The story line is a twist because in the first one you are Strelock and in this one you are hunting him. The maps and graphic content is what put a drag on this game. Crysis, Farcry 2, and Call of Duty 4 kill this game in graphics quality. Also I felt like I was playing the first STALKER until I got to the Red Forest where the maps changed.
"Clear Sky a bit cloudy" Again, a potentially great game made mediocre by appalling bugs and balancing issues. I am getting thoroughly fed up with developers shoving out games without proper beta testing. We know it can be done, so there's really no excuse. This game has been virtually unplayable for me even with patching, including a bug that prevents the game from being able to be completed, no matter what I try. You are continually jarred out of immersion in the game by bugs, AI inconsistancies and crashes that make the experience frustrating and simply not fun. I am now unlikely to purchase another title from these developers.
"Shadow of original game" I liked original game alot despite frequent crashes but new one is almost unplayable.you need to save every minute or you lose your progress.Game is so buggy that I can not understant how was it possible to send it to print, seem like russian revenge for lost cold war.Graphics are great but story line is weak and short, few quest I could not even complete are wortless before you realize it is all over.Another lousy attempt to rework existing files and bilk gamers extra $40,I am really disapointed.I have good machine e8600 4gb ddr3 and 4850 in crossfire and game looks very nice but left me with bad taste anyway.

What our customer's say!
"More sorry DRM and as buggy as Shadow of Chernobyl but still a blast! (PC version)", This game is very similar to Shadow of Chernobyl in gameplay and story. You revisit many of the same areas so in ways it's like coming home again. Many of the same weapons are there, except they are now repairable and upgradeable. There are still side missions and free roaming. Many of the same mutants and monsters are there, but most have enhanced abilities. The stashes are still there as well. The biggest play change is the clicking of the radiation detector is gone so you have to watch a radiation meter to see when you are in a hot area. Until you get used to that it's very easy to stray into contaminated regions and die without knowing what happened. The option to fix the navigation map in place has been removed so it aways rotates like a compass. I prefer the fixed position option myself. In some areas such as tall grass the map is so transparent it is impossible to see terrain details. There is no adjustment for that, either. The graphics bugs, including periodic stuttering and random slowdowns are still there as well. From various forums about the game I have concluded that multi core processors are not fully utilized, the game used only a single core and SLI video configured PCs do not run the graphics any better than good single video cards. Apparently, just like with SoC it's a matter of adjusting the settings until the game works OK, or is at least tolerable. As with Shadow of Chernobyl, I enjoy the gameplay, the interaction, the missions, and the characters. Was the storyline not so engaging I wouldn't put up with the haphazard performance and bugs. If you liked Shadow of Chernobyl you will like the prequel to that story with Clear Sky. Be aware that it also has a set number of installs as part of the DRM. Had I known that I likely would have passed on the purchase as I did with SPORE. My feeling is this is an infringement passed onto us PC gamers that creates needless problems for us when the pirates DRM is designed to thwart beat it anyway and so don't have the install limit. As long as we continue to buy these limited install games, we'll keep getting that as part of the DRM "reward". People posting in the forums have reported getting the run around and/or no response from the game publisher when the reinstall limit was exceeded. Again, as a PC gamer you alredy know the industry attitude of "You're a pirate until proven otherwise and even then we will doubt you." So, with all that in mind, if you don't have an issue with the install limit and the bugs that infested Shadow of Chernobyl, this is an OK game. If SoC drove you nuts from all the above, skip it because it's more of the same. I gave it a 5 star rating for fun because it is lots of fun when it works! I gave it 2 stars overall because of the bugs and especially the install limit with the DRM.
"Great game after it's patched", I started this game without the latest patch and had many crashes. I patched it and it played very smoothly on my older PC. The environments and audio are stunning. I highly recommend this for shooter fans.
"Not to bad!", Nice game- I played the first one alot and was really looking forward to this release. At first I wasn't very impressed it was like you were being rushed. It seemed you were forced along a path, the whole game was pretty linear it kind of lost that free roaming feel that the first Stalker game had. Don't get me wrong the game play is execellent, the graphics are great - better if you have a monster machine to run it. and the atmosphere is still twich inducing. All in all a very good game but if you haven't played the first one yet I would start with that one.
"Amzing", Great game, fun to play, long story mode, plus the story is really great if you have played the first one. Not much more to say....
Sure their is bugs, but what's S.T.A.L.K.E.R without bugs?
"Good but buggy", Definite potential to be a good game, but it's very buggy. Latest patch only fixes some scripting issues. Game frequently crashes to desktop and some quests are still bugged and uncompleteable. Hopefully the company will fix these issues, because until then it's just taking up space on my hard drive.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Deep Silver is a joke. bring back THQ", like a lot of the other reviews, i am a huge fan of the first Stalker. ive played through it more times than i care to admit and loved every second. a few glitches and on rare occasion a crash, but completely worth it.
Clear sky, however, is an absolute programming disaster. i have had to restart the game 6 times now because of game ending crashes. they come without warning, without explanation and worst of all, they happen again even if you reload, reboot, reinstall, or reupdate. it crashes either in the same place or shuts down the program a certain amount of time after you reload, like some sort of time bomb. one time it crashed whenever a certain unimportant NPC died, regardless of what area i was in. this is COMPLETELY unacceptable. how can a company release a game that you cant even finish? especially after 3 release date delays??? while it's running, its a great game and, in my opinion, just as fun as the original stalker game, if not more. but that's if you can keep it running. i built my own system and can run it at the highest settings and it looks incredible. the dynamic lighting is better than anything i've ever seen in a game.... for the five minutes that it stays up. buy this game if you don't mind waiting until they release enough patches to work out the horrendous first round of programming that went into the game. like i said: if it stays up, it's a fantastic buy. if it does what it has done to me, you will want to tear your hair out and/or murder the people who gave this game the ok for release.
"This Could have been a great game", S.T.A.L.K.E.R:Clear Sky Could have been a great game. The reason I thought it was only a OK game was because it was very demanding on my system, it was full of bugs. The Game crashes alot. I lost all my saved games after patching the game. I am not going to remove it from my sysmtem yet. I hope CGS and THQ fix this game, then i'll give it another try.
"It'll get under your skin before you realize it", I played the first s.t.a.l.k.e.r. game and absolutely loved it so I had been eagerly awaiting this game for several months before its release. To get the bad stuff out of the way first - a few reviewers have mentioned stability issues and I want to say that this game is definitely playable using the most recent 1.50.4 patch. I tried the 1.50.3 patch and it still felt unfinished / broken, but 1.50.4 makes this game the truly amazing piece of work everyone was hoping it would be. Try it for yourself before you listen to the big corporate reviewers. Anyhoo... back to the game:
First of all - the graphics are AMAZING! The DX10 lighting effects are downright incredible. Hanging out in the swamp (the first level of the game), watching the sun rise with the light playing through the trees, having the rays flaring out all around you, and taking a sip of vodka to deal with the radiation just feels so... real. Even the NPC interactions, although limited, feel real - strike up a conversation with dude in previously mentioned swamp, dude needs some grenades, find him some grenades, use the cash he gives you to buy his last bottle of vodka - goddam incredible.
I really can't say enough about this game - you have to play it. One tip - if you know there's a major battle coming up WAIT FOR DAYTIME. I mean running around shooting bandits at night is fine, but trying to play through an extended combat sequence when you can barely see what is going on (nightvision suit mods help, but not much) takes some of the fun out of it. So if you're gearing up for a big fight and you take a look at your PDA and it's 00:23:00 wander around for a few 'hours' and take in the atmosphere before throwing the gauntlet down with a fully modded tunder 5.45 and a backpack full of grenades (catch a pineapple!). Happy stalking.
"Bleak. Awesome. Not for noobs.", A shiver ran through me as the rain pounded hard outside the tunnel...not because of the still-twitching dead man beside me, but from the cold wet night seeping through my armored suit...the awol soldier had asked me for help and then tried to get the drop on me, so his end was well deserved...bloody traitor anyway. I could hear wild dogs nearby...then as lightning lit the blackness bright as day saw them...a pack gnawing on a dead stalker...nothing to waste scarce ammo on...not that i would survive if they turned on me. I took a deep pull of vodka and felt the warmth spread...no more bandages and it was a long cold walk to a friendly town...perhaps i could make it before i bled to death.
Clear Sky compared to Shadow of Chernobyl...seems to be slightly more difficult so far,but not to the point of being frustrating...better graphics..same great atmosphere and realistic combat and real-life weapons..I patched to 1.5.04 which was available at the time the game was released and had zero problems running the game on high settings w/an AMD X2 2.0,2GB,8800GTS. No glitches in gameplay, no allegedly getting permanently stuck anywhere like this other reviewer. If you liked the first game, enjoy realistic challenging FPS combat, non-linear open free-roaming environments and the freedom to do as you choose in the game, dont listen to these negative critics. Buy this game and enter the Zone..you'll never be the same.
"DO NOT BUY..........YET", If you liked the first STALKER you will love the sequel....BUT......
It is just like the first time. The game is LOADED with bugs that cause crashes, you cannot travel to new areas, you cannot travel back to old areas. In some cases you are PERMANENTLY stuck!!!!
I am referring to patch 1.5.04...the latest as of today. You could play, stop when you do all you can do when a lethal bug hits you and wait for another patch...but the next patch might kill your old saved games. This happened with the 1st STALKER.
RIGHT NOW - DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!! Obviously GSC and THQ learned nothing from the first mess they created and have given you another load of headaches, bugs, crashes and poor framerates to deal with.
Wait for at least another patch or two and read some gaming forums to check out how frustrated everyone is right now!!
That includes me. I stupidly thought it would be different this time but it is just as bad if not worse!
The game will be great and will be worth buying/playing ONCE and ONLY AFTER the bugs and MAJOR PROBLEMS ARE FIXED!
I am sending my hate mail to the companies responsible to let them know how angry I am.
