"Sony Blu Ray " We are really pleased with this Blu-Ray - they've made many improvements over their previous model. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good quality Blu-Ray Disk Player.
"Last Sony Product I Ever Buy" I'm in the middle of a movie. I want to got to bed, dinner, whatever. I hit STOP. And a message comes up on the screen saying Resume Playback Prohibited From This Point. Playback Will Resume From Start of Disc Next Time. ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME??!?! I plunk down $30 for a disc and I can't even stop and start it as I please? My old DVD player, you could eject the disc, watch another one, turn the player off, turn it on, and when you put the disc back in it STILL remembered where you were and resumed playback from that point. But with this one the only option is to hit pause and waste a lot of energy and wear and tear on the player while that disc continues to spin in the machine until the next time I want to resume watching.
As Sony a) developed the Blu-Ray format b) made my player and c) Sony studios made several of the discs I own, I at least know who the culprit is. Don't be fooled by their pretty product designs and glitzy ads. They've forgotten they're here to serve the customer. Instead their engineers and lawyers are running the show.
This is only the latest in a lot of disappointments w/ Sony products where it's obvious they didn't adequately test the product w/ consumers. Or else they just don't care what we think. Sony, I'm so done with you.
UPDATE: I just asked my friend if his BD player has same defect, he replies: "nope, we watch regular DVDs and BD discs and all play and stop and even have memory stop where you turn the thing off and remembers were you were. it's the DMP BD30 panasonic""
"NOT SOLD ON THE DVD'S YET!" I SOMETIMES WISH THAT THESE DVD'S HAD NEVER BEEN INVENTED. IT IS HARD TO RATE THE SONY BLU-RAY WHEN THE DVD'S KEEP STICKING AND STOPPING. YOU CAN NOT GET THEM TO MOVE AND IF YOU DO, THEY JUMP PAST SCENES THAT YOU WANT TO SEE. IF YOU MISS A WORD OR DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO READ THE LETTER ON THE SCREEN, YOU CAN'T JUST STEP BACK A NOTCH, TO RERUN IT OVER AGAIN, TO DO SO, LIKE YOU COULD ON THE VHS. SO MY VERDICT IS STILL OUT ON THIS DISC PLAYER. NOT SONY'S FAULT AT ALL BUT I CAN'T RATE IT YET.
"Great Bu-Ray player, very poor Amazon Shipping Quality Control" This simple little Blu-ray player from Sony does everything I wanted it to do. It plays my old DVDs with a clarity and sound quality that made my TV and sound system seem new. The TV is a Sony Bravia that is a year or two old but I haven't seen anything look as good as when I played our first DVD in it. It was as if our television was waiting for the proper technology to fully utilize it's capabilities. I also love the way my compact discs sound when played through this unit. I can hear the difference in the mastering! I don't know what people are talking about when they complain about loading time, there is a little delay when first turned on but goes from media to media in the blink of an eye. My only gripe with the unit is that without the remote control there is little that can be done if you don't have it handy. Be forwarned, if you can't keep control of the remote control you'll be very frustrated...
I did not take any stars away from the review because this is a fine product. Amazon however has the worst quality control I have ever come across in their shipping department. I finally kept the third unit shipped to me. The first one had a dent in the DVD box itself that looked as if a pallet hit it AND IT WAS SENT OUT THAT WAY. The second was put in a box with no padding and the third was not much better but it works. If I could have left seller feedback it would have been one star.
Great player lousy shipping from Amazon.
"Blu-ray" Sony BDP-S350 is everything it claims to be. Amazon provided a great price and free shipping. Fast processing and quick delivery just made it a sweet deal.

What our customer's say!
"So far so good", Love it, beautiful pictures, wonderful sound. Looks cool, but download time is a little bit longer. An excellent buy, I am not sure any latest model, say, 550, can be better.
"it is a very good stuff, i enjoy it.", Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player it is so cool to watch the the blu ray movie. and now the movie is much cheaper than before. realy enjoy it.
"excellent produce", easily installed, easy to use, picture is fantastic, hardly noticable in my tv cabinet, would recommend to others.
"Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player", It was well worth the money. Great picture. In fact it is better then the theaters.
"Excellent Player - Small and Light", Quick and Easy setup. I currently have it connected to the Sony STR-DG820 7.1 receiver and viewing it through the Sony KDL-52W4100 TV. The bravia sync is great and will operate from the TV remote or the included remote! It has surprised me as far as playing music CD's and DVD+R. I recently put in DTS audio CD's and they sound amazing in DTS 5.1 through this player. Of course, Blu-ray is amazing! I updated the firmware available from Sony's site and didn't have a hitch on the update. Sony quality is unbeatable!

"Sony BluRay is great", Picrue quality was greatly improved on DVDs and breath-taking on Blu-Ray discs (on 1080p TV).
"Excellent product with a pinch of "salt"", I bought this unit from AMAZON.com little over a month ago. The price was awesome. The installation was a breeze. I hooked it up using HDMI cable, thru a Denon Receiver (AVR 2809CI). At first I had no video pass thru to my TV (52" SAMSUNG LCD bought a year ago). It turns out the TV didn't support 24 Frames/sec, which is a default factory setting for the DVD Player (for the best picture quality). Once I turned that off by going thru the setup menu of this unit, the problem was gone. I wish I had one of those newer TVs that support the 24FPS. Nonetheless, the picture quality is awesome for Blue Ray discs. Even for regular (non-Blue Ray) DVD discs a marked improvement of the video quality was observed (smooth image and color rendition). Even home burned DVDs (from Camcorder recordings) looked very impressive. The remote controller seems quite handy for all the functions. I use a Logitech Universal Remote unit so can't speak much for this Remote unit's usability. The disc loading time is also within a tolerable range.
On the flip side, the unit doesn't remember the last stopping point on a disc, if you happen to stop it in the middle of a show, for some reason. It'd start from the beginning of the program in such a case. So in order for you to get back to where you had last left on the program you were watching, you'd need to sift thru the Menu and thru the chapters. I found it quite a bit annoying. I had a SONY DVD Changer before and that unit always remembered the last stopping point of a disc and even if I had played another disc and went back to the disc I played first, it would ask if it will start from where I stopped on that disc when last time I played it. Wonder why that functionality didn't get included into the chipset on this model's DSP board inside. Also, I noticed, if the DVD disc has any scratch or have some finger prints on the shiny side, the unit will refuse to play that disc or will freeze up completely in the middle of a program. For my own edification, I took that same disc to a local branch of national electronics chain and played it on a $1000 Denon Blu-Ray player unit and it played thru the smudged section without a hick-up. I guess you get what you pay for. So general advise, at least wipe the disc clean before inserting it. Or else it will stop playing in the middle of a session and if you pull it out and clean it and put it back in, guess what you'd need to do now....you'll have to sift thru the menu and thru chapters to figure out where you stopped last time cause it doesn't remember that, as mentioned above.
Overall I'd say it is a good experience with this unit, once you get used to dancing thru its rough edges. Oh one final note about AMAZON. The item arrived pretty fast from the warehouse once the unit became available (even with free shipping). However, the packaging was done very poorly and arrived looking very shabby and torn up. Thankfully, the unit came well packaged from the factory so it didn't sustain any damage apparently (and quite fortunately). I bought from AMAZON many times before but never saw such terrible packaging. Must be my bad luck there.
"Blu-Ray", This is the only blu-ray player I have ever had so I can't compare it to naything else but it seems fine...it takes about 2 minutes to get hooked up and going. It has lots of different settings if I wanted to customize it but it is pretty much ready to go out of the box. I bought it in a buying round for a $149 and it seems to be available at a couple different store for $199 even though the supposed retail price is $299.
"Sony BDP-S35 Doesn't Disappoint", Got this through Amazon's Gold Box daily specials and the price was right. So we pulled the trigger on Blu-Ray, even though we weren't especially looking to start a new collection of videos in a new format.
The unit itself has worked flawlessly. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but I guess that means there's less to go wrong. On some movies, it made the picture look amazing: Speed Racer, Hellboy II and Dark Knight. Some movies were just ho-hum, and the quality of the picture was no different on our Philips 50-inch Ambilight Plasma. (The blu-ray of Crash was notable in its mediocre quality.)
Only a couple of quirks that made the hookup and operation a bit of a pain: 1) You can update the firmware to include, among other things, BD-Live. Unfortunately, it does not have wireless capability - so you must operate the player near an ethernet hookup. I had to run an extra-long cable into another room to my router to get the firmware update;
2) Updating the firmware installed BD-Live, which is currently somewhat of a gimmick, but holds potential for the future. Apparently, you can explore new online content, and in the Dark Knight disk you can record your own commentary. That's great, but if you aren't near that ethernet hookup to access the internet, you can't use BD-Live! If they start offering significantly more features I like with BD-Live, I might invest in a wireless dongle, but this thing really needs built-in wireless.
3) To use that BD-Live and get the firmware update, you need to install a 1Gb Sony micro-sized stick or a very narrow flash drive in the small USB slot in the back. The inexpensive SanDisk Cruzer drives are too wide for the slot, so you essentially are forced to buy a more-expensive flash drive from another company, or Sony's ridiculously expensive micro-sized stick. A bit of a minor point, but I thought it was silly to make me buy a $30 1Gb stick for a Blu-Ray player I only paid $150 for on special.
All-in-all those are minor complaints, and it is so far a good player.
"Blue Ray Review", Great item for the money. Works great with my 1080P Bravia. Blueray disks not worth the extra money in my opinion when these will convert regular disk to HD
