"Current Reviews are not for Gorillapod Focus", FYI, all these reviews are not this model. The Gorillapod Focus has just recently been released. This is the pro model for pro cameras with long lens and holds up to 11 lbs. I have not tried this or any other model, but only noticed these are not reviews for this model. (Please disregard my rating as Amazon would not let me post without giving one.)

"Gorilla MiniPod is A Handy Versitile Pocket Pod", I just love the Joby GP1-01EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod because of its tight gripping design. I needed an inexpensive gift for a brilliant, young photographer struggling to get her business going. I don't know how I stumbled across the gorillapod, but it captured my imagination and on impulse I bought it for her. When it arrived I was surprised at it's size, I had been expecting something larger, but as it turns out, it was absolutely perfect. She was so happy to receive this little camera pod, she had had a need for one just the day before, and this brand, with the little bit of color, seems to have a personality of its own. My stumble and inexpensive purchase became her favorite gift and she is really having a blast exploring new angles and ways to utilize it. When not in use, she has fun just positioning it in her apt. as a bit of practical whimsy.

"Great for traveling", My wife and I do a lot of traveling and I thought this would be the perfect tripod to take with us. So far I am not disappointed. It's small enough to fit in my camera case and is extremely versatile. I like the fact that the clip can be screwed into my camera and then the Joby can just slide on and off very quickly. This was definitely was worth the money.

"Great product", If you like to have your pictures and don't like to ask otehrs to take them -- this is great. Can use as a stand, attach to trees, railing, chair -- anything. My husband and I take it to all trips and have great pix of us together without bothering other people and relying on their picture-taking abilities. you camera has to be pretty light though, but I believe there is a similar one that's for bigger cameras.

"Nicew product to have..something different", I consider this as an innovative product...the way it can hang on chairs or from lamps above...the only minus point is that it is slightly more expensive than it looks to be worth.

"Excellent", The good:

+ Sturdy enough for my tiny Canon SD1000

+ Small and discreet, I could sneak both the camera and tripod tucked away in cargo pants pocket into "camera forbidden" area

+ Worked as described, held its pose well, the grip was strong (while traveling, I was able to take many new interesting angles of self-portraits that I couldn't before)

The bad:

- None so far, I hope it lasts me a while


"Read Before you Buy!", HOW BIG IS YOUR CAMERA? This is a great product, but if you buy one that's too weak to hold your camera's weight, you're going to be disappointed. The GP1 will hold up to 9.7 oz- basically your average small point-and-click digital camera only- think Elph. The GP2 will hold up to 1.75 lbs -smaller/lighter SLR cameras with short lenses only. The GP3 will hold up to 6.6 lbs and has a slightly larger camera attach point, similar to larger tripods -good for SLRs and smaller camcorders. Unless you want to spend 10-15 minutes fighting the gorilla to hold your camera without sagging (and forget about portrait/sideways shots), make sure you buy one that can support the weight! Otherwise it's tough to beat the versatility, reliability, and small size/weight of this tripod. From what I've seen of other reviews, you'll be disappointed with cheaper imitations as well.
