"iCoaster 2008 edition", My 9 year old loves this toy. Putting it together required patience and the ability to see the parts in the pictures. He loved the music that went with it and added his own magnetix balls so there were always some moving through the coaster. Only drawback was finding a cord to hook his ipod to it and storage of course is an issue if you want to keep it up. Good toy. I would get it again for him.

"Perfect toy", My son has ADD and gets easily bored way to quickly. He is 12 now and we got this for his birthday hoping he would enjoy this. It exceeded our expectations. To our suprise he figured out how to put one of the roller coaster layouts together without our help despite the directions being so poor and giving such bad descriptions of 'how to'. There are 10 ways to make different variations of the coaster. It stays together very well and the light and mp3, sound effects are an awesome touch! He loves playing with this and the fact it makes the child think to put it together as well. Its one of the funnest toys ever I believe. Way to pricey in my opinion but worth it for one of them. Id love to buy the other one they have but there is no way Id ever pay that price.

"Great Toy!", My almost 6 year old son got the icoaster for Christmas. We've both been having a blast with it. Since Christmas I think we've built a different coaster just about every day. It does require my help, but I'm slowly teaching my son how to read the directions and the letters on the pieces of track.

We also have two kittens that can't get enough of it. Everytime they see us building a coaster they sit there waiting for us to get it going. Then they get in the middle and chase the balls! It's hilarious to watch.

"Fantastic!", My 7 year old son really wanted the iCoaster for Christmas. None of the negative reviews on the previous version or this version turned me off, and I'm glad.

We were a bit skittish with the instructions at first, but after careful review were able to understand them, and my son had a great time "deciphering" the instructions (i.e., use the tower with 18 notches and put the track bracket on notch 15). When assembling, a good rule of thumb is, if you're having to use force, you've got something upside down.

My son absolutely loves it. It's got great music and sound effects. The biggest problem is getting him to remember not to fiddle with it too much while it's running, because (no surprise) once part of the construction gets knocked off balance, things stop working smoothly. It's another good lesson for him. Now I'm hoping to find some extension kits so we can build a gazillion different tracks!!!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great toy but missing some basic materials", I am putting this thing together for the first time, and haven't had a chance to really play with it yet. I am a little miffed that there is no AC adapter. This forces me to have batteries on hand in order to play. We are getting ready for Christmas morning, and my wife is looking all over for some other older toys to cannibalize the batteries from. We bought a 100 pack of AA batteries last week, and we have plenty of D batteries, but no C batteries.

Another thing missing is a wire to connect to a portable music player. There is an input jack, but no wire that comes out to the head phone jack of my music player. I have no such wire on hand. This is a bummer because part of this Christmas gift is a new Sansa music player too.

Well, my wife just found some old C batteries, so we are going to fire this iCoaster up and see what it's got.

"Fun for all", My 5- and 7-year-old sons have enjoyed playing with this, although it takes some real thinking by an adult to put it together the first time. Once you figure out the notations on the diagram (there are 3 different types of curves that look similar), the finished product is quite sturdy and fun. The only problem we have is the "suspension magnet bridge" - the balls tend to get stuck there. Oh, and the music gets a bit annoying after a while, but there are volume and off switches.

"Cool toy, but not for this price...", I recently purchased this item at a local Wholesale Club for literally half of the current price ($90). I normally credit Amazon for having great prices, but this is silly.

"New 2008 version is great!", My son wanted this toy for awhile and finally got it this past week. We have read the negative reviews and he was worried that it would not be worth the money, but he really wanted to try it. The new version doesn't seem to have any of the problems that the older version has. The track now snaps together and is does not fall apart- he even applied pressure on purpose. The music player still needs an extra attachment ire, but that was not his biggest draw to this toy. The music box sounds are sufficient. All-in-all, it has been worth the money.

"PipersPicks.TV's HoopDeeDo Magnetix iCoaster Review", Piper Reese just did a total review of this new version of the iCoaster for PIpersPicks.TV. After doing just one track from the manual, they put together a dual track design in about 20-25 minutes that works great. It's a really funny look at the iCoaster and how the whole thing works. Definitely a must see for anyone interested in the iCoaster - and anyone interested in a great podcast. It's on their site and you can find the review on YouTube if you search "piper icoaster"
