"Worth owning", This disc has great audio and visual. Great film for kids as well as adults.

"Simply Gorgeous", Aside from the distraction of the film being filled with extremely recognizable vocal talents from several generations of Hollywood, it's a wonderful film that is appropriate for the entire family. Amazing kung-fu fight sequences are combined with some traditional spiritually enlightening self-discovery (ala The Silent Flute/Circle of Iron).

As far as the blu-ray side, it's one of the top 20 Blu Rays in production at this time in relation to it's clarity of image and boldness of color. If you really want to put your PS3/BD Player to the test, as well as the raw color power of your HD television, this is the BD for you. (well, either this or Speed Racer). Well worth the sale price of 14-16 dollars if you can manage to catch it during a sale.

"No Charge for Awesomeness", Kung Fu Panda is right up there with THE INCREDIBLES and WALL-E for my favorite animated film ever. Not just a hilarious send up of martial arts flicks, nor another opportunity for Jack Black to assert his comic genius, Kung Fu Panda is an awesome piece of story telling that will appeal to adults just as much as its target audience.

The animation is beautiful. I've always preferred 3D animation to hand drawn, and this movie is a good example of why. There is no clipping or jaggedness to the animation; each scene is smooth and looks incredible.

The story is classic martial arts fare, with a few twists. Po the Panda, against all odds, is chosen to be the fabled Dragon Warrior, despite the fact that he knows nothing about martial arts except what he has read in pulp serials. He is out of shape and untrained, and his only real asset is his unshakable hopefulness and charm. Without getting into too much of a plot summary, the story is good-enough. The real reason to watch this one isn't the plot anyway. The visuals, the humor, and the voice acting are all perfect, and make even an average plot shine.

As Po the panda says, there is "no charge for awesomness," except maybe the cost of the DVD or Blue Ray.

4.5/5 stars. An instant classic animated film. Buy yourself a copy and another one for someone you love.

"Packs a Hi-Tech Punch", (disclaimer: if you are considering the Blu-Ray disc, you should know that it does not contain the "Secrets of the Furious Five" extra feature that is available with some DVD versions of this movie)
I loved this film in the theater, and I decided to buy the Blu-ray version simply for its color and detail. At 1080p, the picture is ornate, vivid, and eye-popping.
I've also been very pleased with the sound quality of this disc. I'm no golden-ear, but I can tell you that my Onkyo TX-SR806 receiver offered me a sizeable variety of options as far as the audio: I believe some of the lossless audio options my receiver picked up on are unique to the Blu-Ray version. The end result of all this technology is that the movie both looks and sounds amazing--more amazing, in my opinion, than it was in our local theater.
Kung-Fu Panda is a hilarious, enjoyable family film that does an excellent job of capturing the excitement of martial arts while downplaying the violence of what is ultimately a battle story. The beauty of this film is that while it borrows from many movie cliches, it also embeds a rather good message about not trying to be who you think people expect you to be--but simply making the best of who you are. There's an undercurrent of believing in yourself that warms the heart as much as the gentle humor that plays throughout. Voiced by Jack Black (as Po the Panda), Dustin Hoffman (as his trainer Master Sifu) and a celebrity supporting cast, the chemistry comes together and makes Kung-Fu Panda a fun film that stands up to repeat viewings. Highly recommended.

"HIL-AR-IOUS", This is the funniest movie I've seen in the last year, at least. (Somehow I just can't get the scene with the turtle and the candles out of my head... you'll know the one.) This film achieves epic levels of animation with facial expressions and movements that are funny in their own right, plus A+ level voice acting from top notch actors.

I've cut down on my movie purchases a lot lately, realizing that a "DVD collection" is probably a really poor investment in every sense, but this one is a keeper.

I also enjoyed the extras on the DVD, particularly the interview with all of the voice actors represented.

That said, I would not have paid the original price for this DVD. It's just one movie. The extras are good but short. My DVD player does not seem happy with the games (they run choppy to the extent that they're unplayable) but then, does anyone really want to play games on their DVD player anyway? It was the price reduction that brought this film back down to the land of the sane. Great movie + fair price = sold.


"The Best Animated Film In Years!", I'm saying this now because I absolutely believe it to be true: Kung Fu Panda is not only the best new movie I've seen this year - it's easily one of the best animated films of all time.

I'm not one to give out glowing praise often to, well, anything...but in the case of Kung Fu Panda, I have to say this is a movie without flaws. I'm not lying here - I cannot think of one thing that needs to be even tweaked in the slightest. It has the perfect mix of comedy, action and serious bits to make you wonder exactly how one film could get so many things right!

The movie, starring Jack Black, revolves around a rather tubby panda's accidental encounter with his idols - the world's five most legendary Kung Fu masters. Po the panda has dreamt about being a Kung Fu master himself but his father has plans for him to take over his noodle shop because "broth flows through their veins." When Po gets a chance to become the Dragon Warrior, he doesn't turn the offer down. The Kung Fu master believes in him, even if Poe doesn't think he can...but that proves enough to help him fulfill his destiny.

One of Kung Fu Panda's greatest strengths is its originality in storytelling - it avoids pretty much every common animated (or heck, even standard action/comedy flick) cliche you can think of. You won't find any wise-cracking sidekicks, songs that pop out of nowhere, poop humor, jabs at movies/modern-day stuff or even a romance twist. The movie is made purely out of amazingly polished animation and witty, fast-paced humor. Even Jack Black comes across as someone everyone can enjoy (he's often an actor that polarizes viewers) thanks to a script that allows him to be himself but also know his boundaries for the story's sake. Now granted, no movie made now is going to be 100% "new" but Kung Fu Panda is certainly unique in its presentation and entertainment value.

I must congratulate Dreamworks on an amazing job in regards to the animation and editing in this film. The sheer level of detail in every shot is amazing and if I were Pixar, I would be very worried about this movie because it is every bit as good as Toy Story (Pixar's best film). It truly has something for everyone and, despite its cartoony setting, has a very grown-up story to tell about sticking to your goals and learning life's path doesn't follow a straight line. Even in the Dreamworks family of animated films, Kung Fu Panda is in a class of its own (Shrek doesn't even come close).

Like I said earlier, there simply isn't anything wrong with this amazing film. The visuals are the best I've seen yet in a cartoon (thanks to amazing editing and choreographed action sequences), the voice acting is suberb (Dustin Hoffman in particular is excellent) and the sound is terrific (the oriental and action music blend perfectly). Most importantly, Kung Fu Panda is simply fun from beginning to end with nothing in it that might become dated or feel boring after repeated viewings. This will surely stand the test of time when compared against the true classics of animated films.

If people making films - live action and animated - even took a glance at Kung Fu Panda to see how a movie should be made, the world of cinema would be a much better place.

"Cute Movie With A Nice Message", When I first hears about "Kung-Fu Panda", I groaned - Not another cute little animated movie with inside jokes for adults..

But I was presently surprised, this movie presents familiar material in a fresh, fun manner. The animation is top notch as well. Kids can watch this and not get bored and adults will enjoy it as well.

"Best Dreamworks film to date", Kung Fu Panda is the best Dreamworks film to date. It even rivals Pixar in top notch quality, humor, and re-watch value. Jack Black does a superb job as Po and the other big name actors do a fine job lending their voices to the other characters. An absolute must-see for anybody who's a fan of Kung Fu, Jack Black, Pandas, or just plain humor!

"Movie was GREAT; AMAZON was the problem!!", Sorry for giving this movie a 1 STAR..but if you understood the situation you would have to agree with me! I ordered the regular version on November 3rd..and received the DVD and 1 book TODAY. I do not recommend using super saver shipping if you plan to give your item as a gift! I never had a problem with the regular shipping before..BUT I was really disappointed that my first order was LOST in the mail! I was wondering why my item never arrived after almost 2.5 weeks..and I had to contact customer service. They said my item was lost in the mail and they shipped out a new order AFTER I had to contact them again to see why they haven't shipped my item (they finally shipped after 3 days of re-contacting them!). I explained that my daughter's birthday was the 30th..and the two items were gifts. Customer service shipped my item out on 2 day. It was a little too late..and the DVD case came cut up on the crease!
