"Really cool -- but your hand cramps up"
I bought this game so my grandson (he's 11) and I could play it. It's cool, and we love rockin' out, but I haven't figured out a good angle for holding it yet, so I can't play for long because my hand cramps up. It would probably help if the strap was angled a bit (instead of being straight) so my pinky could reach better. I actually do play guitar, but this is totally different and awkward for me. By the way, this game DEFINITELY plays better with headphones.

"rock and roll fun on the go!"
My girls just love guitar hero but what do you do when you aren't home - you take it with you! There has been a minor issue with the strap falling off, but all in all this is a great game. Having played the full size version, I wasn't sure how this would work but it really is a lot of fun and they have totally enjoyed it - a recommended gift for all the rock and roll fans out there!

"So criminally fun it should be arrested"
This game should suck. Everything about it screams "cashing in", and using a DS as an instrument??? Ridiculous! So why have I spent hour after hour playing this game when I have a much more comfortable version at home? Answer: because I'm not always at home, and this is the next best thing! ROCK ON GARTH!!!

"Guitar Hero, it is... but smaller"
Guitar Hero On Tour is everything you expect from Guitar Hero, but smaller. There are only four buttons, and a shorter tracklist. I picked it up during a Gold Box event, for $30. I don't think it's worth the normal $50 asking price.

The song selection, I thought, was excellent. Guitar Hero III had a lot of "heavy" songs, while this one brought back a lot of songs I remember from my childhood in the 90s, as well as some of the songs you see on VH1's various "Top 100" programmes. I especially liked the inclusion of "Jesse's Girl."

"Guitar Hero Life"
I play the Guitar Hero on Wii, it is the best experience in my life, cus i don't play any instruments, and it makes you feel like a Rock Star, so i think i Have to Buy the Guitar Hero On Tour, and it makes you live the Guitar Hero experience to the next level.
GHOT alone, isn't that much, but it gives you a lot of fun, not just for kids, but for all the family, but the most importatn thing is that you have to remember making pauses in between songs cus it really hurts if you get really exited XD...

What our customer's say!

"Just great!!", I love this game!! so interactive and it has even more funny features than guitar hero 3!! Excelent song repertory!! Highly reccommended!!

"Guitar Hero", I don`t usually play many games but I really like this one. My kids play it alot to. It is fun and I like music alot. Its a game any age can play. It has no bad language or nudity in it. I don`t know what else to say
, its just a fun game

"Guitar Hero for the DS", Fun game for the price. Bought it for my daughter and she loves it.

"guitar hero ds", This was a great game and my 7 year old loved it! A good value at 24.99 with free super saver shipping. There is the new guitar hero on tour that is now released and I think we will buy this also. I think this game is easier than the real guitar version!

"Fun..fun..fun!!", We can't expect Guitar Hero for the DS Lite to be as exciting in comparison with the console game versions. Although, if you step back and imagine that Guitar Hero was only available for the DS Lite, you would have to agree with me that this game rocks! I'm glad I purchased it from Amazon and I'm even more satisfied that I got it at a great deal which is why I purchased two of them.

"Unleashing Our Hidden Rock Star", I really love my Nintendo DS, but I haven't found a game yet that really appealed to me. Lucky for me, the new Guitar Hero for the DS was sent to us to try out and I think I have finally found a game that makes me want to sit down and play..instead of doing all this mom stuff. The challenge is prying it from my husband's hot little hands because he has been walking around our house like a Rock God. You could say that the game is a bit addictive, even for us old folks!

The game comes with a few songs on it and, through the power of your mad guitar skills, you can build up your song library with songs from a variety of genres like pop, classic rock, and alternative. The game comes with a little guitar pick that you use to play your songs (which is conveniently stored inside) and the multi-colored guitar pad to play along with the band.

This is a great game because it can be played by anyone in the family. The game is intended for children who are ten years and older, but adults will love rocking it out to favorite songs from their youth. The game is challenging enough that it adds lots of variety to your Guitar Hero experience and you can play it using headphones, so as to not annoy the rest of the people in your family.

"great game", its true to the guitar hero franchise and fun especially if you wouldnt otherwise have access to guitar hero.

Pros: almost as fun as playing on xbox. portable. not too hard.

Cons: crappy songs (well i think a lot of them suck) kinda small especially if u have wide fingers (mine are almost perfect because they are long and thin). Not as fun as playing GH3 or rock band, if you already have either of those this might be a waste of cash. really bad graphics.

I have guitar hero for Wii at my dads house and its fun but at my moms house this is a great way to feed my guitar hero addiction. its pretty easy once u get the hang of it, i cant beat like the last 3 songs but besides that no complaints.

"Fun for people who already like Guitar Hero", I was so excited when I heard this game was coming out for the DS, I actually pre-ordered it about 2 months ahead of time.

The song selection varies enough to make it interesting to just about anyone, and they did a very good job of transferring the game to this portable platform.

With that said, I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't already a fan of Guitar Hero on standard consoles. I imagine it would be a bit harder to learn from scratch in this format. I could be wrong, though.

Also, I've noticed that some of my guy friends with larger hands have trouble with it because the "fret" buttons are so small.

It's a lot of fun, though, and you can even play in public without embarrassment if you invest in a set of headphones. (To activate star power, it tells you to "yell" into the microphone, but blowing on it works as well.)

Don't let the lack of a 5th fret button fool you - this version is still very challenging. I think it's definitely worth the money.

"Works as advertised - keeps a 13 year old happy", I bought this as a gift for my 13 year old son. He has had no complaints about it and has played it quite happily for many hours.

"It works... but not always.", Let it never be said that developer Vicarious Visions lacks innovation and ambition: These folks have often tried to push the limit of portable hardware, first with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on the Gameboy Advance and then in trying to craft a 60-frames-per-second 3D graphics engine for Spider Man 2 DS on the handheld's launch day.

With the new guitar grip, Vicarious Visions has made the unthinkable happen. Guitar Hero: On Tour IS Guitar Hero on your DS. It's not some cut-down version where you play it with your thumbs, like on a mobile phone, or with the face buttons and d-pad. It's Guitar Hero, in the flesh, with one hand curled up as if its fingers were getting ready to dance across a fretboard, and your other hand ready to pick and strum at a moment's notice.

There are problems, sadly. The issues with this game are largely mechanical, as opposed to with the content. The guitar grip is prone to slipping out of the Gameboy Advance slot during intense play, forcing players to reboot the entire system. It's also quite unwieldy -- and even more prone to slipping out -- for those with large hands. It takes longer to get to a comfortable angle with this peripheral, since your hand is tied down by the unit's strap.

Furthermore, though the strumming "feels" somewhat like strumming thanks to the pick-shaped stylus, the touch screen lacks the tactile "click" feel that comes from either flipping the strum bar on the console versions or actually picking a real string. It's easy to pick at the wrong area when you're not looking, causing alt-strummers to gape in disbelief as they mysteriously miss a series of eighth-notes because their first touch didn't take.

These are two large problems that are severe enough to hamper the fluidity of the gameplay. It is in this sense that the game doesn't always "work." Neither of these problems are necessarily anyone's "fault", instead being due to the nature of the hardware, but surely improvements can be made for the next go round. (How about an anchoring mechanism to keep the grip in place, and less finnicky strumming code?)

The other gripe you might have is hand cramps. Holding your hand in this new awkward position will definitely introduce some pain, and while "omg hand cramp" is a flippant complaint often used by Nintendo DS detractors, it actually does hold true here.

If you can tolerate these issues, then Guitar Hero: On Tour can be just as fun as the console versions if you come in expecting lower-quality sound files and a reduced tracklist. Hammering a tricky solo flat-out works here, and is just as satisfying to your fingers as it is on the console guitars. Shouting at the mic (I prefer clearing my throat) is a serviceable way of activating star power for the score junkie in you, and even though you don't quite feel like you're playing a fake guitar, you still feel like you're pulling off some mean feats when you play on Expert.

All told, Guitar Hero: On Tour is a viable option if you really want Guitar Hero in the car. It plays and feels enough like its console cousin, and is a commendable effort by the developer. Its mechanical issues simply cannot be ignored, however, and you need to be ready to handle them if you're going to plug in.
