Others say...
"Respect the change" Lets get one thing clear. I'm not a fan of mainstream hiphop, snap or any of the music out today. I am a huge fan of classic hiphop like NWA, NaS, Big L etc. I am also a firm believer that hiphop is dead. I think hiphop is supposed to change. Lets look back to when the chronic came out, several people said it was bad. The great rapper common even released a song called i used to love H.E.R. the whole song was about the direction of hiphop and how it was straying away from the more constructive hiphop of KRS 1 and Rakim but many say it was a change for the best. What I'm sayin is that is a change for the better. I'm not sayin snap or stuuf like that is good because there is no skill included. There People are sayin that he has no substance but look at devin the dude he raps about smokin all the time but people still respect him and consider him a good rapper. Also people talk down about his flow but look at ol dirty bastard. His flow is spastic and doesn't make sense but that what makes him who he is. A good rapper shouldn't be considered a good rapper by how similar he is to other rappers but how different he is.
"Over-rated AND Under-rated." Lil Wayne is an average hip-hop artist. He is nothing amazing yet he is not terrible either. The problem with Tha Carter III is that it was so over-hyped. People were saying it was gonna be a classic and that his skills are up there with B.I.G., 2Pac, NaS, Jay-Z, Eminem. His skills are really not.
So this album finally drops and I pick it up. I have always enjoyed listening to his raps. I never thought he was God status but it was fun to listen too. I like the way his lines always compare one thing to another that is kinda out in left field. "I'm rare like Mr. Clean with hair." It's funny and fun to listen to. After it dropped a lot of people were suddenly hating on this album. Lets get it straight he is no godly MC but he also isn't as bad as Soulja Boy. He is not even bad he is average.
The problem was that people over-hyped the album so much that when it came out and obviously didn't come close to the standards a lot of people started saying it sucked.
Hot tracks: Love me or Hate me I'm me (yes i know those two were on The Leak but i count em for the hell of it) Mr. Carter A milli 3-peat couple other 3/5 Download maybe buy it.
"garbage" i dont see what everyone sees in this dude... this albums sucks his beats are only appealing because of sampling.... lyrics are straight garbage as usual people WAKE UP LOOK BEHIND POPPY BEATS AND MAINSTREAM APPEAL!! u wanna hear some real hiphop look for dudes like elzhi and reks..
""We are not the same I am a martian..."" With those words on the catchy "Phone Home" Weezy seperates himself from every other MC in the game. While I don't agree with his declaration of the best rapper alive, he certainly deserves praise for this album. The croaky voiced rapper uses everything in his arsenal to showcase his abilities. The best track is "Mr. Carter" featuring Jay-Z. The duo's previous collaboration, "Hello Brooklyn", had no place on American Gangster but this song stands out. Tie My Hands is another gem lyrically for Wayne on a beat that is much more calm than what we've come to expect from the New Orleans native. On it, he raps breifly about the aftermath of Katrina and this is when he shines as an MC. Dontgetit, using the chorus of Common's "Misunderstood" on a much improved beat, is a laid back track that deserves more than a few listens. By far the worst song is also the most popular, the summer hit Lollipop. Sure it appeals to the masses and without it the album's sales numbers suffer but it simply is not fitting for an album much deeper. With lyrics such as "you can't get on my level/You would need a spaceshuttle or a ladder thats forever" on 3 Peat, Weezy F. has shown that he is one of the best out and anticipation for Carter IV has officially begun.
"Turning To The Puppet Of Mtv" I had always liked Lil Wayne and had always loved his mixtapes such as Da Drought and Lights Out was a real good album. I took notice of Lil Wayne when he was a hot boy. Listening to him now compared to this cd was very interesting. He had changed his style so much so now he is of an MTV status which can consider him to be a "pop/rap" artist. I understand that h is trying to attract a wider audience base but seriously, I am so tired of people who don't even follow rap think he is the best rapper alive, as he says. They all base it off this album only and never even had heard any of his other stuff. this shows how tainted rap music is now these days. What Lil Wayne came out with the album was his big hit "Lollipop" which while was catchy and had a good feel, it was horrible when you settle down and hear the lyrics. Same goes for all his other songs on this album. Makes not much sense and puts too much vocals in his tracks like if he can sing or something. Dr. Carter was really good considering the fact he exploits the rap music coming out today and how he will fix it. Pretty hypocritical when you hear the rest of this album. He still has not yet shown me he's the best rapper alive.

What our customer's say!
""Beat it like a cop...Rodney King baby, beat it like a cop!"", Well, I did not order this one through Amazon but I need to say that Wayne really could have came better than this, His mixtapes are much better than this album and I will say, this album will take a while to grow on you, Over all it's ok to listen to. My joint is Ms. Officer though. NEOSOUL06.
"Shut up all you haters out there", This album is one of the best albums of the year, hands down. why are you all hatin on weezy? hes lyrically one of the best out there, his metaphors and punch lines are out of this world. Do you actually listen to his music? or do you just hear his voice and say, "ahh he sucks". You need to get your mind correct. His flow is unique and stands out of the crowd, and thats exactly what we need from rap/hip hop nowadays.

"Awesome & Satisfied", This CD is GREAT! I didn't think I'd like it being 33 and all. But, my 13 yr old daughter opened my eyes. The Carter III isn't as bad as a thought it would be.
"Is The Carter 3 A Fail?", This review is written by Mr. Bradberry's students:
Only a couple of songs were good like "Mrs.officer, Mr.Carter and A Milli". He uses to many other artis and should just make his music alone. They say "he's just an untalented, trying to pass down crap music and call it as hip-hop. But they are wrong you just have to get use to it. the CD that i liked was called "The Block Is Hot". The companies "No Limit Records and Cash Money" were declining until Tha Carter 3. When I heard it you can hear it's a bunch of crap, but you got to get used to it. The beats good but the lyrics aren't that good. Tha Carter 3 sold 1 million copies in the first week which means that it was good but it's not as good as his other albums. Only one song was good, and was called "A Milli", and just may be the best song that Lil Wayne made. Wayne try to make his song unique and did on Carter 3, so the song may not be the best but at lest they stant out from every othere rapper. It lookes like lil wayne puts no effort in tha Carter 3 but he does it a special way which no other rapper can do what he does thats why I like his way of rap style. It may not sound good at first but you got get use to it.
"Not HIP HOP. Not even close.", This can barely pass as Hip-Hop, let alone even as music.
Here you have the result of the death of hip-hop coupled with the myspace-era where image means more than talent.
The 15 year olds have spoken, and this guy is apparently the best rapper in the word. But uh...he doesn't really rap. He just mumbles in a sleepy, drunken tone to some very over-produced beats which are a blatant insult to hip-hop. The beats are closer to techno/club than hip-hop, but aren't dancable either, so that doesn't work too well!
Apparently, his little scarves and excessive tattoos make him the best rapper. I don't know what the deal is...but I couldn't agree less!
There should just be another genre call techno-bling-garbage-club-music and then we can finally stop having to call Lil Wayne, Kanye and all these clowns rappers.
That's my 2 cents. Thank you.

"Questionable", Lil Wayne has always had a problem of proving himself as "best rapper alive". Sure he can bust a dope freestyle now and then but he has never made a classic album. Lights Out, The Carter and Carter II were good but they were far from classics. If you are going to call yourself the greatest the least you can do is make a great album. The Carter II was great lyrically(for the most part) but the production was suspect. The production on this album is better than the production on Carter II but lyrically its not better than Carter II. There are some good songs to be found on here: A Milli feat Corey Gunz is a banger. 3Peat, Let The Beat Build, Tie My Hands(feat Robin Thicke) are passable. Mr Carter feat Jay-z is pretty good and Dr Carter is probably the most creative track that Wayne has ever made Comfortable feat Babyface(which samples the ending of Alicia Keys' You Dont Know My Name) is a good track for the ladies. Despite these tracks, the album is weaighed down heavily with garbage tracks. P**** Monster, Phone Home(nice beat but WTF???) and the deadly dull Shoot Me Down are prime examples of what I'm talking about. The ringtone classic Lollipop(feat Static Major RIP) should have been slammed in the trash. Fabolous FLOORS Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana on You Aint Got Nothin. Mrs Officer is a waste of Bobby Vantentino's talent and our time and probably has the dumbest chorus on the album(weeoooweeweeoooweeeoooweee?). La La feat Busta Rhymes and Brisco sucks point blank period. Got Money feat T-Pain is a failed club banger and Dontgetit is ruined by Wayne speaking his mind on why he hate Al Sharpton. Now we all know that Al Sharpton is of questionable character(unless you're sheep) but Wayne isnt bright enough to defend his position so he ends up sounding stupid as hell. At any rate if this was the album that was supposed to prove that he was the greatest then that remains to be seen. The production for the most part is not bad but sometimes Wayne's rhymes were either mediocre and sometimes he sounded like he didnt even finish his punchlines. Wayne should get rid of the ego and just concentrate on making a quality album because this one is far from his true potential.
"Okay You're A Goon But What's A Goon To Goblin?", I will agree most of Wayne's best works are on his mixtapes but this was still a decent album. I was not disappointed. The lyrical wordplay, flow, and beats never let me down. Weezy F. Baby is a lyrical beast and I know alot of northerners or just plain haters will not give him the credit he deserves. They'd rather Jay-Z wear he crown because he is from NY, but there is hip hop beyond NY.
My Favorites: Lollipop A Milli Mrs. Officer Got Money Mr. Carter 3 Peat
""I'm The Sh.., Get The F Off My Toilet" (Rating: 8 out of 10- -4.0 stars)", There comes a time where we all have to be judgmental and not follow a crowd, or not praise or slander something or someone because it's cool to do. For those few people who've been following my reviews, I'm sure I have an idea what you're thinking. You're probably thinking, "What Chandler?! You gave Wayne 8 out of 10 stars? You must be on that down south type ****." Or could it be "What? 8 out of 10 stars? No way Chandler! I stuck by your reviews for so long, and this is how you repay me. You gave Masta Ace, and Immortal Technique 8 stars. Is Lil' Wayne just as good as them?" Whatever reason you're thinking why I didn't give Wayne a low score, because he's overrated and proclaims himself as "The Best Rapper Alive", I have a few words for you: Get a life! Just like EJ Rupert said in his review, is it cool to listen to underground and mainstream artists, without slamming one or the other (this goes for half of you people who are on those Amazon threads as well).
Well, as for Lil' Wayne himself, he hits what he proclaims as a "3 Peat" with his third follow up in "Tha Carter" trilogy. I admit, he has stepped is game up since back in '04 when he came out with Tha Carter 1, which was mediocre (admit it, you only liked it because it was the cool thing to do). But in late '05/early '06 he came much harder on Tha Carter II. So can Wayne live up to the hype that he has been swimming in for the past year. When you hear how he rips on "Mr. Carter" featuring Jay-Z, the answer is apparently "yes". No matter how you match him up with the beats, he'll put them to good use. Just check out "A Milli" on how he handles it (and thank you every rapper popular and non-popular for freestyling that beat into the ground). "Dr. Carter" has a good concept as Wayne plays a doctor to rappers who are not good. Further down the album is the great and deep song "Tie My Hands" featuring Robin Thike. And then is the hilarious "La La" with Busta Rhymes and Brisco.
Songs that I don't like in particular is the second single "Ms. Officer" (that song get mass amount of airplay, and that "weedle weedle weedle" sound is VERY annoying). Some songs just don't make sense, such as "P***y Monster" and "Phone Home" (trying to be E.T. there huh?)
Overall, a great album. Wayne has hit a high mark in his career. Is he the best rapper alive? No, but he getting up there with everybody else. Which brings me to another thing: Record sales do not determine how great a rapper's skills are. Just becaue Wayne sold "A Milli" in a week, does no make this album the best ever made. Many albums have leaps and bounds over this and barely hit platnum (ex: Nas' Illmatic was relesed in 1994, but didn't go gold until '96 and platnum until 2001). Lil' Wayne may have done his job as an artist with an excellent album. Just like The Rolling Stone Magazine said in their review "Believe The Hype" (and gave this 4 1/2 stars). For me, it's 8 out of 10 in my opinion. Peace.

"huh??", this is the future??? wht is this world comin to this is a POP album NOT hiphop lil wayne needs to re-find himself!!!
"This record is his absolute worst", Look, I've been a fan of Lil Wayne's since he was a hot boy. His lyrics have never been very profound but I always liked his crazy flow, his sense of humor, and his beats (when he was working with Mannie Fresh). There isn't much debate as far as I'm concerned that Tha Carter is a great mainstream rap album and Tha Carter II is also pretty damn entertaining. Lil Wayne definitely endeared himself to fans by churning out mix tapes on what seemed like nearly a weekly basis for awhile. But the best rapper alive? come on. I know that part of being a pop rapper now is constantly talking about how great you are and I don't fault him for saying he's the best cause cockiness is the norm. However, I really can't see how anyone besides Wayne himself should is be able to say he's the best rapper alive with a straight face. His rhymes lately are nothing but analogies like "I'm ____ as____" or "I'm higher than ____". After awhile it gets really, really repetitive and just downright boring. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to hate on him too much. I had been anticipating the release of Tha Carter III and thought some of the leaked songs were great. But this record is really a letdown for me. It sounds like something Yung Joc or some other crap pop rapper would put out. I think lollipop is one of the WORST Wayne songs I've ever heard and after listening to the album 3-4 times I still just couldn't find anything that I could really vibe to. Is this a terrible record? No, not compared to most of the garbage hip hop playing on the radio and MTV these days. But I think it might be his worst and I just expected more from Wayne quite frankly. Not cause he is a brilliant lyricist, cause he's not. But because he has delivered some really entertaining rhymes and regardless of how overhyped he is now, he does have talent. Too bad you would never know that by listening to Tha Carter III.
