"Canon Pixma MX850", I have 3 complaints about this unit. It is very slow to start up. When the ink gets low you have to push 2 buttons instead of one. The ink is more expensive. These 3 issues are not problems with the earlier PIXMA MP780 I own. Newer units should be improvements not the reverse. I would give the MP780 a 5 star and this one 4 star.

"Great Printer..Better than HP 7310", I purchased the HP 7310 while I lived in Asia which was my first all-in-one printer. I still use it in my office and thought it was the best printer I had owned, until I purchased this printer. I read the reviews and the printer lives up to the hype. I haven't used all the functions yet and I don't plan on printing photo quality pictures, but I do print in a lot of color for business purposes. It's fantastic. The scanner feeder is much more efficient than my HP and the software that comes with it is very user friendly. It works incredibly well with Adobe professional software. The flatbed scanner is the best I have ever used.

I love the ink cartridges. A little orange light glows when the catridges are inserted properly and the color quality is top notch.

The time to set up the printer was not nearly as bad as some reviews have said. If your computer literate whatsoever, it will take 15 minutes to set it up and have the software on your computer.

The one and only downfall is the size of the printer. WHen you read a review that it's big, it's true..It's HUGE! That being said, the quality of the machine is high end. It's well constructed and all of the moving parts are well made. Considerably better quality than the HP and that's not a knock against HP so much as high praise for canon.

I would recommend this printer to anyone and consider replacing my HP in my office now that it will not recognize ink cartridges. Nice work by Canon.

"Great printer for the price", I had no problem getting the printer set-up and it works very well, especially for the price. I've tried all the features and have not difficulty getting everything done. The quality is very good so far.

"No Power Save Function", Although it is "Energy Star" you cannot put the printer to sleep and have it wake up when you need to print. You have to power off to save electricity.

It is an ok printer, fax and scanner. The display instructions could be better. Also, it would be nice to program it through a computer than through the printer's display.

"Also scans documents into PDF files", I bought a cheap wireless printer and returned because of low quality photos. I then purchased this printer after trying to convince myself it was worth it.

Well it was more then worth it, it is a great printer and its $10 cheaper then what I paid for it.

It not only does great photos, but also will scan my documents into PDF files for indexing by google desktop.

All my stuff is done over my home network which has multiple routers using XP SP2.

I highly recommend this printer

"Cannon Pixma MX850", Printer and copier work fine--I have not tried the fax yet. The black ink cartridge is not as "black" as in my old printer--the only draw-back I see so far.

I've got 4 PC's in the house, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 and they are all printing to the MX850 over ethernet. The Vista 64 box was a little tricky to set up but a quick call to Canon support put me straight. The driver had installed OK, but did not set up the port. The technician talked me through adding a port and it was all systems go.

There's now a firmware update available on the Canon site, this installed OK.

"Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Printer", This 3-in-1 replaced my Hewlett Packard 3-in-1. It was highly rated in Consumer's Reports for photo printing, so that swayed my decision to buy this unit. So far I am not as pleased with this one for the photo printing as I was with my old HP. I have a Canon digital camera, so I thought that maybe having this Canon printer would be even better, but not so.

I do like that it copies on both sides of a sheet of paper, but the letters I print aren't as perfectly crisp (as they were on the HP) either, but still good. I tried my photo papers with various settings before printing. Some were just terrible, but the "pro" setting was good with the super glossy paper.

I haven't used the FAX, but have tried the scanner, which was much more complicated than my old machine. It does have a number of features that might come in handy to others, like enlarging & reducing, etc.

So all in all I would say that for the printing quality this is a good product but not great.

"Excellent Capabilities for the price", Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Printer (2436B002)
This all in one has exceeded my expectations. The color photos are vivid. The fromt panel controls are logical and intuitive. I like the use of front and rear paper trays. Very useful for different kinds of paper such as photo or plain. The fax function is easer than large office machines and works the very first time. No jams in paper handling have ever happened. For duplex printing it automatically prints on both sides without putting in the paper twice. It even prints booklets, ready for folding and stapleing. Even though it is network capable USB cable is more reliable. Networks are hard to communicate with. The printer is smart enough to unlock the exit tray when printing if it was closed previously. The memory card displays photos on the lcd front panel as soon as it is plugged in. Photos can be edited and printed directly without a computer. There are more features I have not had the need for yet, but I am sure they will work as advertised.
