"GRANDMOTHER'S GIFT" I AM A GRANDMOTHER WHO PURCHASED THIS BATMAN LEGO GAME FOR HER GRANDSON, 9YRS. OLD. HE LOVES IT..... BETTY L. COLLINS
"fun for kids - a bit concerning for mom" My boys (6 & 7) have loved Lego Star Wars & Lego Indiana Jones, and I've been very comfortable with them playing those games. They are somewhat "violent", but innocuously so - because the players just fall apart and regenerate. Batman has stepped up the level of violence, and I wish I'd known about it. Rather than just punches, kicks - or even "guns", it has characters that can throw someone by their head, and pick someone up and break their back. I rated it highly for fun, b/c my kids still love it, but my overall rating is lower because of the unexpected violence.
"Gotham is really in pieces" First of all, if you are a fan of Batman AND Lego, you'll love this game. If you are just a Batman fan, who loves the comics and the seriousness within them, you'll hate this game. I've played both Star Wars games, and this one is even better. There are lots and lots of puzzles, jokes and a beautiful animation. You'll be exploring 3 worlds, back and forth, good and evil sides and two bonus levels. You'll have to pick studs, pieces, red bricks, minikits, vehicles...etc. You'll need to find EVERY single secret in the game, which is delighting since every time you finish a chapter they'll tell you how much of the game you've cleared... which at first glance will be miserable, but progressively it will rise. There are cons to the game, though. First of all, a 2nd player is quite necesary but not obligatory (I won the entire game by myself) since this CPU is totally idiotic. Second, you may crash the game if you are not careful (like the Penguin's laser level). Finally, the fact that you may have to replay some levels time and time again, you may become tired of the game and just throw it somewhere. Anyway, in the long run, you'll clear it. I hope this helped and, if you have the time, rent or buy the game... it is worth it.
"A total blast!" Another game in the Lego series that I have a great time playing. Easy enough for younger kids and entertaining enough for this 28 year old. I suppose if you're into hardcore gaming it's going to seem a little simple but since I'm not... it's perfect for me!
"Loved it!" finished this game in a week. great and addictive game. most fun out of all the lego games. better than indiana jones hands down.

What our customer's say!
"Batman Lego Wii Game", I bought this game for my grandson's birthday. He absolutely loves the game. It's one of his favorites and he is so happy. I gave him one of his "best presents" this year which makes me so happy.
"Best of all Lego games!", I love this game sooooo much! It tops Indiana Jones and Star Wars! Lots of fun for all ages! And I love the fact that it is a "cooperation" game because my kids have to come to an agreement in order to successfully play together...
"Very imaginative and fun for all!", My kids love this game and play it constantly. There is so much to do and you never get bored with the same old thing like in half the games I own. I would recommend this game to anyone with little kids or older kids alike. It really engages my son to problem solve, which he had a hard time doing before. Great game highly recommended!
"Good for grandson", This was a present for my 8 year old grandson. It seems to be a big hit. He gave it top reviews when asked.
"All the pieces are falling into place", I've been a fan of the Lego video game series since its inception in Lego Star Wars on the PS2. I hated the Star Wars prequels, but a couple of good games came out of them. Then Lego Star Wars came along and actually made the story-lines in the prequels fun and engaging, which is something that the movies themselves were unable to accomplish.
Lego Batman expands on the same basic concept from the original Lego Star Wars, with solid platforming and light combat mixed with puzzle solving. The co-op mode is drop in, drop out, at any moment, making this a great game for playing with friends. The unlimited lives means that a bad player constantly dying won't hamper progress, although it can be frustrating when you are trying to unlock content by doing well in the levels.
The big innovation in Lego Batman is the addition of a parallel storyline, with you playing the villains in their own quest to overthrow law and order in Gotham city. The super-villains each have unique abilities that mix up the gameplay nicely. That's not to say that the heroes don't have a variety powers themselves. Batman, Robin and their various cohorts have a selection of specialty suits that would make the DC Direct action figure designers proud. The story-lines for both the heroes and villains are unique narratives, which gives the game a freedom that was not present in the previous, movie-based Lego Games.
Graphically the game is on par with other Wii games, looking clean and colorful. Some of the levels are a bit dark, making it hard to pickup the dark suited Batman from his environs. Thankfully, this is only a problem on rare occasions. The sound is excellent, especially the brilliant use of Danny Elfman's score from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film. The music ties everything into a familiar Batman framework even when it gets rather silly. The music loops a bit too often considering how long you can stay in one area collecting items and looking for secrets, but it never gets annoying.
The Wii controls are excellent, which I have found to be a common case for more traditional games on the Wii. The mix of nunchuck and remote works amazingly, although the motion controls are neglected in favor of tight implementation of classic analog controls.
With all its un-lockables, the easy to pick up and varied levels, and the huge number of different characters to play, Lego Batman brings together all the elements that have made the previous Lego games while jettisoning the baggage of being bound to a movie storyline. Perhaps the best Lego game yet!

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Here we go again...", You'd figure that with two Lego Star Wars games and Lego Indiana Jones already under their belts, Travelers Tales' Lego games would be getting kind of stale. Well, you'd figure wrong. Lego Batman features everything that was enjoyable with the aforementioned games, and slaps the Batman license on it to boot. Playing as the Caped Crusader and his sidekick Robin, you traverse a Lego-fied Gotham City and take on the usual rogues gallery of baddies. Fans of the Batman comics will be happy to see plenty of familiar faces: Joker, Nightwing, Batgirl, Hush, Bane, and plenty more are all here for your amusement. If you've played any of the previous Lego-based games, you should already know what to expect here, as Lego Batman offers up plenty of funny and comical moments supplemented with tons of unlockables and bonus characters to boot. The game looks good and even offers Danny Elfman's classic Batman theme, rounding out the presentation. The only downsides to Lego Batman are the same flaws that were apparent in previous Lego games: the difficulty is simple to say the least, there isn't enough use of the Wii-specific controls, and the game isn't that long at all. Still, with the hordes of unlockables to find that will hold your attention and keep you playing for a while. All in all, Lego Batman is a fun and family friendly diversion that anyone can enjoy and easily pick up and play.
"3 stars, format's getting a bit tired", I love the Lego games I've completely beaten Indiana Jones and still going through Star Wars. That having been said Batman has some highs and lows. I'm about 50% through the game at this point and have some comments.
The highs: Once you unlock Arkham Asylum and can play the villains this takes on a really fun new angle to the concept. And they got quite creative with some of the characters abilities. I like that is is a completely different game with all new levels for the Villians and their own plot line.
It is also fun to play the hero angle too, don't get me wrong, especially in free play mode. It is also almost TOO easy to get the full Superhero or Super villian mode.
However, the lows are:SOME SPOILERS!
The Villian level story ends just before the battle with Batman and Company! What a disapointment, I was looking forward to playing the bad guy in the big fight out! TT missed an oportunity there. Some of the Villian choices are either bizarre (Killer Moth or whoever he is??) or under utilized like Clay Face and Bane. And some just duplicate each other like the Riddler and Mad Hatter.
The Graphics seems a bit tired here there is nothing new to the game design that we did not use in some way in the previous games with the exception of making up the Villain story line games. So you play this game and you can recognize things they used in Indy or the Star Wars games.
Difficulty and vagueness, there are times when the next step in the game is so completely vague you can wander around for ages wonder what the heck you missed! And then there are other levels that are sooo easy it's a joke. I mean beating the Joker and Harley took no time but Mr Freeze took too long!
Also unlike the other games there seems to be no way to find the extras available at least I have not been able to find any! I can find the red bricks and mini kits but have no clue how you aquire the extras!!
So on the whole I give this game third place overall. With Indy being number 1 and Star Wars number 2 only just above Batman.
"Raves from a 7 year old", I got this as a birthday present for a 7 year old. I heard within hours how much fun this was and how many levels he already done.
"Dynamic Duo beat the blocks outta Arkham's evil doers", If you liked LEGO Star Wars and LEGO INDY, then LEGO BATMAN is already in your Wii....'nuff said. If you didn't like them...you won't like BATMAN...if you didn't try them, you should.
The LEGO games are fun for the whole family, young and old, the animated LEGO movie links to the gaming threads are wild & wicked and worth the purchase on their merits alone. The format for Batman is much like the Lucasfilm game sets, just not directly connected to any particular movies...although (thankfully) the Danny Elfman music (circa 1989) runs throughout the game, the style is generic Batman via LEGO LAND. The villains have teamed up to escape Arkham Asylum and the Dynamic Duo must stop them...each villain has a story arc to unlock, before free play is possible in the related locations...so like the previous installments, replay value is high, you can return to the story setting later as several optional characters including the villians themselves in order to find hidden "trophies" to build in Wayne Manor (part of the Batcave hub, where menus, story progress and unlockables lie). This way the same tales have many variations for players to explore, collecting the coin-like "studs" as currency for upgrades and unlockables. There's roughly about 30 separate levels to play, 15 in the hero chapters and 15 levels i the villain chapters.
LEGO BATMAN characters have individual moves, Batman for example can put baddies in a choke hold and throw them. An exciting addition to LEGO combat is the BATARANG, which will lock on targets for distance attacks. Introduced also, are special suits for Batman and Robin, these make certain combinations of characters a necessity for passing stages or solving puzzles...For example, in true comic book fashion,Robin can get a Magnetized-suit to scale metal walls, I can't explain the pleasure that came from watching Robin lumbering and buzzing up surfaces (sound fx here are classic) Other moves are standard for the LEGO games: grappling hooks for platforms and punching and kicking.
The character design is great and Gotham looks good...there are lest characters to be unlocked here than in any other LEGO game so far and lest upgrades as well. But as for the characters there are so good choices from the Batman Universe....Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, Poison IVY, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, The Mad Hatter, even Bane.Like the heroes, each villain has their own special weapons and moves...I bet you can guess Banes.
Another LEGO staple is the mix and match at the hub, where you can customize a character for free play by swapping the pieces around.
No major complaints, it just seems smaller than previous efforts, maybe because no direct movie-tie-in was done...like the Trilogy format. I do miss the "character quirks" introduced for LEGO INDY, like the fear of snakes and rats, effecting character behavior. Admittedly it doesn't work well with the superhero genre. Also, since this is a Traveler's Tales project with Warner Bros. and not Lucasfilm, don't expect to find any hidden Star Wars characters this time....sorry.
