Others say...
"only for real fans!!!" Ok....this is one of those products that must be recomended only for fans of Vangelis (wich i am) or colectors of Blade Runner material....the thing is that i can not say is a definitive edition of Blade Runner soundtrack...because is not, i love the movie also and i would like to have the original soundtrack that we listen during the movie and not more music "based" on the film or new creations for the movie.....on the other side i love Vangelis music so im happy to get some new material from one of the best composers ever.
As i said i think this excelent product is only for real fans of Vangelis and Blade Runner.
"GREAT MUSIC, THANK YOU VANGELIS .....!" This is a treasure for Vangelis fans. Because, 3'rd CD is a "new" VANGELIS music, since "Alexander". BR is a great soundtrack, CD 2 is continue BR secret sounds...but, CD 3 is a unheard NEW VANGELIS music ! This 3 CD is a treasure for all VANGELIS fans and all music lovers. Highly recomended ! ( Listen VANGELIS music in silence ambient and dark atmosphere ) Thank you "USTAD".
Bora Cetin 51 years old Vangelis fan from Istanbul, since "Heaven & Hell"
"Not much new ground, but good nonethless" People are not going to be clamoring to get out in to the street, jumping for joy and proclaiming that the god-of-synthesizers is back at his game. Those days for Vangelis, since the mid-70's, have sadly passed. Vangelis seems to be past the period of experimentation and is oddly enough rehashing former glories. Which is strange coming from an artist who has said in numerous (and I mean numerous) interviews that he hates repeating himself. And this is not to mention the numerous (and I mean numerous) sports themes and Olympic related events he has coordinated after that little running movie he won an Oscar for. And the beaucoup "remastered" compilation CD's he has authorized. For someone who doesn't repeat himself, Vangelis sure repeats himself.
But fear not, not all of this is bad. It's a pleasure to have new Vangelis music and this release, particularly the third "new" CD, certainly delivers. In fact, if I didn't know any better, it would appear that Vangelis is using the "Bladerunner" platform to release some entirely new music that (despite a few recurring melodic motiffs) essentially has nothing to do with "Bladerunner". So, the controversy continues (are you reading the other reviews?)!
The second CD is surprisingly ambient and appears to be a lot of backing tracks segued together. Which, again, is not a bad thing. It's nice to hear Vangelis spreading his musical palette, without all that bombastic melody getting in the way. Remember, that this man used to do such strange works as "See You Later" and "Beaubourg".
So, sadly no new ground sprung here, but certainly some pleasant music sure to please Vangelis fans.
"bladerunner 25th anniversary cd" In my opinion Vangelis is a musical genius. His music particularly his movie soundtracks are equalled only by a few. Chariots of Fire, Antartica,1492,Alexander not to mention music from Missing and The Bounty make these movies worth going to for the music alone.
"A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!" I wish I had read the reviews of this awful product BEFORE i puchased it. The other reviewers are correct that this DOES NOT have ALL the Vangelis music from Blade Runner. A specific example is when Deckard is going up to J.F. Sebastian's apartment and has the confrontation with Pris. At about 1:28:56 into the movie (The Director's Cut) and ends at about 1:31:40. Ever since I had bought the original "soundtrack", I had been annoyed that this was left off. I was excited when I saw this was coming out, because I wrongly assumed that with THREE CDs, all the music had to be on it. It isn't. DON'T BUY THIS!!!

What our customer's say!
"Is this the promised end?", One track on this album has the absurd title "Unveiled Twinkling Space." It fits the album well because the album is all twinkling. It's all wind chimes and cheesy wind effects and almost no music from the movie "Blade Runner."
I'm not a Vangelis fan. I think he's pretentious, for one thing. For another, I think he's got very little creative talent. He tends to take about eight notes and repeat them endlessly, without even varying the tempo or the key. He can't think of codas--all his pieces fade out or fade into one another. There are exceptions to all these observations, of course, and they tend to be the strongest cues on this album.
What I am is a "Blade Runner" fan, and a film music fan, and I'd really like to be able to listen to music from the movie without dialogue, sound effects, and dumb wind noises interfering with my enjoyment.
What's the point of the dialogue that we hear over "Main Titles?" If I wanted to listen to dialogue, I'd watch the movie again. It's not even the best lines from the movie--just Harrison Ford listing a bunch of numbers (from the Esper sequence). I love Rutger Hauer's closing soliloquy, but when I listen to music, I'd like it to be music, not a soliloquy. Vangelis must have understood something of this, so he reprises "Tears In Rain" on the second CD, without the dialogue. But unable to let the music stand by itself, he inserts a wind effect over the whole track. Where's the wind in "Blade Runner?" Rain I see, but wind? If only there were rain and no wind, or wind and rain, but why wind and no rain?
I also don't see much point in CD 3. Music inspired by the film. It doesn't really evoke the film, though--most of them some like John Barryesque lounge music cues from 1960s Bond movies. The last track seems to be entirely composed of wind and a child asking a series of questions.
?
Six cues on CD 2 contain music actually used in the film. Eight cues on CD 1 contain music actually used in the film. In all, that's less than an hour of music.
I can't really complain. I knew what I was getting, and bought it anyway. I don't feel like I was conned out of my money. I bought with my eyes open. I just wanted to hear the music from "Blade Runner." Like Deckard entering teh Bradbury building, or Baty dying without distracting dialogue or sound effects. It's a humble wish, I think, and I don't think I'll ever get it.
But I see, if no one else does, that the Emperor Vangelis isn't wearing any clothes.
"Blade Runner, 21st century.", Vangelis has given a wonderful present to all fans of the movie and his music. Of course we miss the opening titles, that impressive theme is once more missing (why??) but at least we can enjoy previously unreleased music and, above all, there is completely new music based on BR which is particularly interesting since it means a new turn in V's music career after so many "neoclassical" albums. Jazz, electronica, new age..., styles he visited in the past sound now as fresh as ever and sheer experimentation is also there to the delight of his 70's music fans. A real must.
"Amazing", This is just a great edition for the Vangelis fan, i was very pleased with the new third cd, it's relaxing and brings you in the right mood, a must for every Vangelis fan!
"Lounge Music", There I was sitting in a comfortable airport bar at DIA having a smooth drink watching the world stroll by when my inner ears perked up. What was that music that was playing? Wait I recognize that ...... It's It's the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis. But it sounds like lounge music. Oh no ! It hit me as hard as when I learned that there was no Santa. The music from my favorite Sci-fi movie when disembodied from the visual imagery dilutes to bar music. The tracks sounded so ... at home here in a bar. But somehow when fused back into the movie it all fits so perfectly. Indeed Vangelis' undulating soundtrack adds so much to the film's images. They did not elect an over the top electrotrack nor pretentious spaceclassic music. . . . . . Now comes this 25th anniversary CD. Not really the "soundtrack". Instead more lounge music; "Dimitri's Bar, Piano in an Empty Room'. They should have followed Coppola's lead when he released Apocalypse Now in it's entirety. Every word, every sound, every song (almost)). That was a worthy SOUNDTRACK !

"Still not the definitive Soundtrack", An interesting collection of new and old material. It's great to finally have some of these tracks available at last, but this is still not the definitive soundtrack we've all been waiting for. Won't someone just give us the soundtrack of "Bladerunner" from beginning to end without the revisited songs and reinterpretations? Is that, after 25 years of waiting, asking too much?
"Fantastic new music from Vangelis for BR", Every Blade Runner fan should have this - disc one has the original soundtrack from 1994, disc two has music from the movie not included in the '94 release, and some really great tracks, but it's disc three that is the real treat: All new music composed by Vangelis for the 25th anniversary of BR, and there are some gems here, a lot of it reminiscent of Vangelis' work from the '80's through the mid '90's (re: Direct, The City, Opera Sauvage, etc.)... As a long time Vangelis fan I am very pleased with this three-disc set and very happy to have it in my collection. Highly recommended.
"Blade Runner Soundtrack", This is a very entertaining album. The first disc is the soundtrack release of Blade Runner from 1994, the second disc features unreleased music from the film's score, and the final disc has new material from the composer Vangelis. The music to Blade Runner stands alone as a very illuminating and inspiring piece. Most of the score is synthesized and jazz influenced. The fan of Blade Runner will enjoy this album.
"Brings Back the Movie", Torcon 3, the 61st World Science Fiction Convention in Toronto in 2003, conducted a poll of its members to determine the top science-fiction films of the 20th Century. "2001: A Space Odyssey" came in 1st. "Blade Runner" came in 2nd. Snippets of dialog from the film are scattered thruout this CD's musical excerpts from the soundtrack and help bring the movie back to life.
"I've ... SEEN things, things you wouldn't believe."
"MORE OF A RIPOFF THAN THE BOOTLEGS!", We'll try this a third time (since they seem to have lost it the first two times)
I've deleted most of my review, since others have covered the same ground in a more suitable-for-family-reading fashion (Bless you, Zaroff, for nailing this bird we've been flipped to the Wall of Shame.)
So, it's the "complete music from the film" eh? Fhtagn! David Cordes, in his very generous 3 star review, details the other releases that have more right to call themselves complete.
My copy of this waste of ones and zeros has been making the rounds with the gang, and the printable response has so far been, "Thanks for saving me the money."
>sarcasm mode--ON< Thank you sooo much, to the label and Vangelis, for making us have to shell out tons more cash to the bootleggers for what we want. >sarcasm mode--OFF<
I wish I hadn't pre-ordered this turkey.
PS--Amazon exclusive my arse!
