"There is a Problem with the Blu Ray Version!"
I've watched all three Resident Evil films and they're not bad. Resident Evil- Extinction in my opinion was probably the best of the three. No, I can't compare them to the videogames because I never played the videogames, so I can only compare them to other films in the "zombie" genre. They are all three decent films and each builds on the previous film. The first movie is concentrated on a particular location: the mysterious underground research facility under "Raccoon City", sometime in the future, where a research virus breaks out and turns both people and animals into undead zombies. In the second film, the virus has spread above ground and all of Raccoon City, if not the US, is affected. In this last movie, the virus has gone worldwide. I'm a big fan of "bonus features" on DVD. Sometimes you watch a movie and think umph--second-rate, if that. Then you watch some of the "bonus features" in which the director, the actors and actresses, the photographers and others involved talk about all the work they went through to produce the film--down to incredible little details, little minutiae that flash through in an instant of the final movie--you think about the hundreds of person-years that went into the making of the movie, the blood, sweat and tears, how hard they worked, and you end up thinking, "yeah, that WAS pretty cool actually how they did that--I never really thought how hard that was--actually that was a decent film..." [Other times I've watched special features and concluded the film was still terrible..] In this case, some of the special features on DVD were quite interesting and added value. In addition, some of the visuals in this movie were stunning. That's why I ended up getting the Blu-Ray version, after already owning the regular DVD version. Not once, but twice getting the Blu-Ray version. Neither time would the Blu-Ray version play properly. Not in just one player, either. I have two (different, and rather new) Blu-Ray players for TVs, and two Blu-Ray players built into computers, and the discs would not play in any of the 4 Blu-Ray players. First I got the 3-movie trilogy (plus a bonus disc). The first 2 movies play just fine, but "Extinction" did really bizarre things, but DOES NOT PLAY A MOVIE. I figured maybe that was just one defective disc. I went out and bought a stand-alone Blu-Ray version of RE-Extinction on Blu-Ray, brought it home, and it did EXACTLY THE SAME THING. I have not had this problem with any other Blu Ray product and am surprised that no other reviewer seems to have complained. WARNING: you may have a problem with this product in Blu-Ray version! It's possible not all discs are affected, but some seem to not play properly AT ALL! The movie itself is definitely worth watching if you like the genre.

"Zombies doing what they do best!"
I'm not sure what all the griping is about this film. Do critics not understand the concept of science fiction? Science fiction: a broad genre of fiction that often involves speculations based on current or future science or technology. Get that Entertainment Weekly? It's not supposed to be realistic. I've had it about up to my a** with these paint-chip eating movie critics who grouse to the edge of galactic hell space about bad scripts and lack of originality. Three zombies are about to jump you and eat you alive, what are you supposed to say?

"O that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew!"

No, more likely it will be "Son of a B." or "F me, these zombies are really hungry." Apologies to all you haughty gas-inhaling elitists who deride every sci-fi film if it is not a Brothers Karamazov parable set in the future. Sometimes a biotechnology corporation, let's say a company called Umbrella Corp., takes things just a little bit too far and unfortunately we end up with a zombie apocalypse. These things happen. Then a group of people - not necessarily thespians of Shakespearean cogency, mind you - get some guns together and form a little brigade that marauders about killing zombies in a search of an antigen that will save the rest of humanity. And sometimes they will come upon a big box in the middle of the desert, that for no apparent reason happens to be filled with zombies. Oh the humanity. Let us all now go bathe, lest our sullied flesh melt after bearing witness to this squalid spectacle, meant so unmistakenly only for the coarse, unwashed masses, who cannot discern TRUE art from a grimy simulacrum of it. Such is the onerous existence of a film critic.

"RESIDENT EVIL TRILOGY (BLU RAY)"
THIS TRILOGY IN BLU RAY IS AWESOME. PICTURE QUALITY FOR RESIDENT EVIL 1 IS 4.5/5 . APOCALYPSE 3.5/5 . EXTINCTION 4/5. AUDIO FOR RESIDENT EVIL 1 AND EXTINCTION ARE IN DOLBY TRUE HD. APOCALYPSE IN PCM. THEY WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.LOVE THEM.

"From J. Kaye's Book Blog"
I walked away pleased with this latest installment. Compare with the others before, this one isn't as good. Even so, I loved it. In this sequel, Alice has been hiding in the Nevada desert, staying one step ahead of the zombies that have basically taken over the world. She once again joins forces with friends of the past in order to find a safe haven. Her enemy isn't just the undead, but the Umbrella Corporation as well. The action in this move was so good, it left me with goose bumps. Also, the ending leaves plenty of room for the fourth in this series. I don't think Resident Evil fans will be disappointed. I wasn't.

"Resident Evil Fans"
This review is simple. I bought these movies Because I love the games. And I was not surprised to find that the movies are amazing too.

"Now she can burn birds...with a thought, it cant get anyworse.", First she could make your nose bleed with a thought(apocalypse), now she uses her powers to burn birds. And apparently she can be turned on and off with a switch. This one is longer and more boring, and the clones at the end, that was even worse. This is not resident evil, this is a bad mix between mad max and whatever they could think of. Milla is a good actress, but this Alice character is more robot than human. 28 weeks later and Warning sign are better than this one.

"A Great Return to Form!", After the disappointing second movie outing for this console game, I was expecting the third instalment to be a disaster of epic proportions and signal the franchise's demise. Wow, was I surprised! This is a really great action movie. The set pieces are all cool. The way they further develop the character of the lead is interesting. The special effects and story both bring something new to the franchise.

There were a few minor niggles: the Vegas location could have been exploited for more; the super zombies were a little easy to kill with a knife to the throat(?); the climax battle was a little short. But all in all, I'll enjoy watching this again - always the sign of a good movie experience.

"Actually felt somewhat like the real Resident Evil", I was introduced to Resident Evil by the original games...later they decided to make films BASED on the games, but they were not ever all that great.

I saw the first one, and though it had some interesting scenes of how people met their doom. I didnt really like it. It paled in comparison to the games. And the games are far superior in story and in horror and still are to this day (resident evil 4 and 5 as the latest and greatest prime examples of this)

Anyways, i even tried watching the second RE film, but that was just so embarrassingly lame, i couldnt watch it all the way through...it might of turned out to be an okay movie, but at the time, i really wasnt impressed at all, i was NOT entertained. but i might go back and check that one out, just to give it another chance.

But ya, so far, i never really cared much for the hollywood film adaptations. Until now, because RE-Extinction was actually done in way that does the games some justice, and honors the tradition of the game series way better.

Of course the story and things are still just BASED on the games, you dont get a plot by plot similarity at all. But its done well this time around. And i think the monster at the end was impressive. They did a good job representing that thing.

Its not really the best acted movie. But it kept me entertained and interested. The part with how they fight off the hundreds of zombie crows was awesome.

And the story kind of touches on stuff that was kind of a mystery in the first film and uncovers some 'secrets' in ways.
So im actually interested in seeing whats next for this film 'franchise'.

I think its worth buying a used copy on amazon for cheap.

not a bad movie.

"Great Deal", Great deal for the money. As for the movies I think extinction was the best one.

"Resident Evil in HD glory", This review is for the HD content, not the movie actor's quality.

RE 1 transfer to HD is excellent! The sound quality is outstanding!
RE 2 & 3 suffer a bit of the over darkening and slightly lower quality. Sound is above par, but below the quality of the first.

"Resident Evil Blu-Ray Trilogy", Resident Evil - The High-Definition Trilogy (Resident Evil/ Resident Evil: Apocalypse/ Resident Evil: Extinction) [Blu-ray] I LOVE THIS SERIES AND I LOVE MILLA. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY. KEEP THEM COMING. I AM THERE.

"If you can get past Paul Anderson's lousy writing it's actually a fun flick", The Resident Evil franchise sparks a lot of debates; some love it and others simply hate it and see it as far inferior to the games they were inspired by. Make no mistake the Resident Evil films will never be mistaken for a George Romero movie and quite honestly the films will remain known only thanks to the video games. The day the games fade away I'm willing to bet so will the movies.

But with that said I will admit I have so far enjoyed this franchise for the most part. The movies aren't classics by any means, but they do make for some mindless fun and quite honestly sometimes that is all that is needed. But the Resident Evil films aren't without their flaws and the major flaw with the series is one person in particular. Paul WS Anderson. He's despised by legions of people, but he's really not that bad of a filmmaker. He's not very good, but he can produce and direct an enjoyable even if lackluster movie. But his writing is just simply horrendous.

Resident Evil: Extinction was once again written by Paul Anderson who wrote the previous 2 and directed the original. This is a Paul Anderson screenplay you should know what to expect by now. I've never thought he was very good with the character development, but with the Resident Evil films he's at his worst. While neither this one nor the previous 2 were poorly written per se, they did feature very weak characters and if not for the actors brining more to the characters than maybe they deserved they would be a total waste. I can't help, but feel it's more of Anderson being lazy and knowing he has an audience thanks to the games.

Resident Evil: Extinction might be the weakest written of the three, but also the best written as well. The characters all lack depth and nothing is really explained. Ali Larter was excellent as Claire Redfield, but my question who is the hell is she? I don't care if it's explained in the game. This is a feature film and not a video game. Her character could be developed in the game, but she also has to be developed in the movie. It almost seems like when Anderson writes his first draft it ends up being the final shooting script.

I think plot wise this has a little bit more going for it, but with that said the story itself isn't very good and knocks off other movies, but the dialogue was overall far better than Resident Evil 2, which at times was cringe worthy. If not for Alexander Witt's decent directing, Resident Evil 2 could have been terrible, which is does borderline at times.

Oded Fehr returns as Carlos Olivera and Mike Epps returns as L.J. and both of them are very much wasted. Since both survived the previous part and since both were free it seems they were brought back for the hell of it. While their characters weren't very much developed in the 2nd, here even less is done with them. While both actors make a little more of their characters they are simply there just for the hell of it. Carlos is given a little more to do than just to be there, but L.J. serves no real purpose. But at the end of the day neither character was very crucial to the movie.

I would love to see this franchise continue without Paul Anderson; I think there is some potential for this series and while I have enjoyed all 3 for what they are just mindless fun, but Paul Anderson's weak writing hurt what would have been a much better series of films. As I stated before as a director he's not bad, he's not very good, but he can craft a movie that is enjoyable, but at the end of the day forgettable. The original Resident Evil really wasn't so bad, the script was very weak, but it did have some fairly good action scenes and was enjoyable, but again we go back to the script you'll be hard pressed to remember anyone's name. Faceless characters and that's what Anderson does best.

As a writer Anderson, well let's just say he needs to take a few classes on how to write a screenplay. One of the clear influences on RE3 was George Romero's Day of the Dead; note to Anderson; pay attention to what Romero did with the screenplay and break it down and maybe one day you'll fully understand how to write a movie. I hate to totally trash someone and I've pretty much bashed Anderson non-stop in this review, but he deserves it. He isn't the worst writer and I'll admit I do enjoy some of his work again he can deliver a decent flick, but very forgettable, but I don't hate Paul Anderson like many people seem to do.

Director Russell Mulcahy does a fairly good job at keeping the pace going forward, which isn't an easy task when you're directing a movie based off of a Paul Anderson script. But he mostly keeps things interesting and does deliver some solid action scenes. The poor CGI does hurt a little bit, but they're still good enough scenes so they may not annoy you too much. Of all 3 Resident Evil films this is probably the best directed, but also has possibly the weakest and better script of the 3. So therefore I won't place all the blame on Mulcahy for the flaws.

The biggest problem with Resident Evil 3 is almost the whole movie was shot in the daylight. Movies like this barley work when shot during the day. Would all night scenes made this scary? No of course not, but that isn't really the point, but if anything it might have added a little bit of suspense and tension. I don't think night scenes would make this movie much better, but I think it would have helped a little bit.

Milla Jovovich returns as Alice and is the brightest spot of the movie; honestly I really like her a lot. She's a fairly decent actress, but does make for a very cool heroine. Milla Jovovich is the franchise and brings a lot to a very poorly developed character. Quite honestly she's the main reason I keep coming back to the series.

Overall Resident Evil: Extinction is a very flawed, but fun movie; by no means is this movie a classic at all. It's quite forgettable, but again it's a fun movie and a fun way to kill 90 or so minutes. My review may be a lot more negative than positive, but I do enjoy Resident Evil: Extinction, while this doesn't come highly recommended it does serve its purpose as a good popcorn flick.
