"Kind of Cool and Kind of NOT" I got this phone to replace my GE Dect 6.0 Cell Fusion Caller Id 2HSCordless handsets. I was looking for the same features as the Fusion with the addition of a BT headset and the ability to use Skype. What I did not realize is that the Plantronics Calisto link to the cell phone is not through the phone, but just an ordinary bluetooth headset for the cell phone. So, I can't dial calls through the cell via the calisto handset. I can't see the caller id of a cell call. You also can't be more than "30 feet" away from your cell phone to answer a cell call.
I am a little confused as to why this model is so expensive now that I understand what it is. It is a cordless single line handset with a BT headset and has a USB link to the PC which let's you use VOIP programs like skype. Hooking up the headset to my laptop to make skype calls is cool, but I don't need a $250 headset to do that. You can't make skype calls with the handset. If you already have a BT adaptor on your PC, you don't need the USB connection. You get the same capability with an ordinary BT headset.
The GE Fusion allows me to make calls through the cell anywhere in the house, answer cell calls anywhere in the house, and have more than one handset. What it did not have was a BT headset...or so I thought. I now have found a BT for the GE fusion. The problem with it is that it links to the base and not the handset. Foiled again. I will keep trying.
I am not one to return products, but I was completely fooled on this one.
"Like product - but how often should it be charged?" I am satisfied with the phone thus far. I really like the freedom it provides and it works flawlessly with my Blackberry.
One concern I have is how often to charge this. Is there any down side to keeping it in the charger when not is use? Or should I let the battery run down and then charge?
"Plantronics Calisto Pro - is great" Plantronics Calisto Pro Series DECT 6.0 Cordless Landline/VoIP Phone with Bluetooth Headset This is an excellent product, I bought it because other products interfered with my wireless Internet. Battery life is about 6hrs. It's definitely worth the money.
"Nice phone with some issues" I have used this phone for over two months now. I use this in my home office. Frankly, for the price, I was expecting more; the syncing with Outlook is limited, and accessing the number in the phone books is time consuming,as you can only start with the first letter, it won't allow you to type in the first couple of letters, getting you directly to who you are looking for. Better software should have been included for this price.
The buttons, while of good quality, are VERY SMALL. So if you do a lot of dialing, I would not recommend this phone. Again, I guess no one did any customer research at Plantronics.
On the plus side, the range for the phone is great, and the sound quality & comfort of the earpiece is good.
"Range and flexibility" This phone solves all of my problems. The biggest issue I had with all other cordless phones was range. I could never seem to get coverage over my entire house. I have my office upstairs, and a lab in the basement and I could never seem to walk back and forth between the two. This phone works well over every square inch of my house and even out a ways into the yard.
My second problem was talking "hands free". I like to type or clean or walk around while I'm on the phone. Most speaker phones at this price point have horrible echoes, and most head sets don't work all that well - I was always getting tangled in wires.
So now I can walk around the house and answer my cell phone and office phone with one headset. I'm hands free, and no one complains about echoes or volume.
One other feature of this phone that has also proven to be a great asset is that fact that I can integrate with Skype. I use Skype to call internationally and now I don't have to sit in front of the computer anymore. This software was simple to setup, and it works great.
I've had this phone for about 3 months now, and for the price I don't think you can get a better more flexible SoHo solution.

What our customer's say!
"near-perfect SOHO phone", This phone lives up to the promises, and I'd say the reviews are generally pretty accurate. Going cordless on the headset is a big win, esp if your phone is on a desk with lots of PC cables, etc. The battery life is great for both the phone and the headset. When I work from home, I can spend 6+ hours on the phone, and it's not an issue. As an added bonus, this phone works as a speakerphone, even when it's sitting in the charging cradle. Having a headset chraged built nicely into the base is also a big plus.
Tiny nits (and I do mean tiny) 1) Yes, you'll need to make sure the headset seats properly to charge, but it's not a big problem. 2) The handset buttons are slightly small, but it is a fair trade-off for a small sized handset. The LCD display could have been smaller for larger buttons, and that would have been OK, but it works fine as is.
I haven't tried pairing the headset with other devices, but Bluetooth is a standard, so it should work pretty easily. All up, we're very pleased with the phone. Pricey, but worth it.
"Everything about this phone is cheap, except the price", I am very technically inclined and usually never write reviews. I bought this phone 6 months ago due to the good reviews here on Amazon. BIG mistake, are people here who give this 5 stars actually using it?. What is wrong with it you ask: - poor battery life, better charge it every night or no phone for you tomorrow - thick and bulky like an old flip phone from 10 years ago - phone software and software you install on your PC is archaic - screen on handset is such poor quality it is almost unusable - static and hiss during calls is unbearable, worse than the cheapest wal-mart phone you can buy. - usb connection to your pc causes severe noise an all phone extensions until you disconnect the calisto pro from your pc again - headset quality is very bad, 2 hours max and your ear is killing - headset button already cracked, I have never dropped it or rough handled it - all functions are sloooowwww, push a button..wait, answer a call..wait, make a call..better wait, want to redial..wait some more - ergonomics, not on this phone - speakerphone is worse than my cell phone's
Unfortunately it is slim pickings out there if you need a bluetooth headset to work with your home phone line, keep looking as the calisto pro is a good idea done very very poorly.
"Tried 3 not one worked right", Tried three brand new phones of which none of them worked right. Never was able to use the call logs completely though they work fine on all other phones. The tech support team is batting 1 with knowledge for every 5 who are clueless. If tech support is bad I always give low ratings as customer service should be #1. Imagine them wanting to send me a reconditioned unit for a brand new one. Way overpriced.
"Nice Item", Great bluetooth, very functional. Buttons are a bit hard to press, but it is a nice unit.
"Good phone with some significant limitations.", I've owned this Plantronics Calisto Pro cordless phone for about 6 months. It's my 3rd cordless phone which I use at the office on a daily basis. Here's a concise summary of the pros and cons based on my experience:
Pros: 1. Very comfortably headset; 2. Easy to charge both headset and handset; 3. Great lighted LCD display; 4. Handset stays connected to the base at a good distance; 5. Headset stays connected to the handset for up to approx. 30 feet; 6. Very good sound quality; 7. Easy to adjust the volume while speaking.
Cons: 1. Headset disconnects unexpectedly (hanging up on the caller, approximately every 30th call); 2. Small buttons which are tough to read (even though they are lighted); 3. Limited instruction manual; 4. Annoying to hang-up phone (either pressing a small button on the side of the headset or pressing the tough to find button on the handset).
I spoke with a technician at Plantronics regarding the headset disconnection problem. He was minimally helpful, instructing me to re-link the headset and base (even though they are only a few feet apart when it disconnects), which only corrected the problem temporarily.
Overall, it's a good phone with many pros and some significant cons, at a very significant price. My conclusion is that I would not buy this phone again, but will continue to use it for now.

"I found my phone", Can't say enough about this phone, can talk and work from a good distant away from base.
"Problems with keypad", I work from home and I'm on it pretty much all day. The one think I can not stand with this is phone is that it does not work with some of my customers phone conferencing systems. I'll the dial the number, when I enter the conference passcode it always comes up as invalid or incomplete. The reason why is the key tone is so incredibly short the conferencing system on the other end does not always pick up the complete pass code. It is extremely frustrating! I have a 20% success rate for it to work.
I checked all the settings on the phone and there is no way to extend the tone so I'm pretty much out of luck. I missed a few important conference calls because of this. Some times I start dialing in 5-10 minutes before hoping I'll get lucky. Now I just jump on my cell or us Skype for the conferencing.
It just seems like such simple functionality they could have built into the phone and they did not.
"Best phone ever!", Almost everything about this phone is great. The numbers on the dial pad are a bit small, but still functional. Headset works great, ability to link to other Bluetooth devices a plus.
"Excellent Phone!!", I've worked from home for the past 9 years and have gone through multiple phones/headsets. I'm on conference calls from 6 to 10 hours a day so a good phone is key to my productivity (and sanity).
I'd been using the Plantronics CT10 for several years (3 phones in about 7 years). However, since the headset is corded, I'd frequently catch the cord while I was walking around which resulted in the handset hitting the floor. After breaking my latest phone I was forced to look for a new model. Unfortunately, the CT12 (2.4GHz) won't work for me as I have a wireless network in my office.
I then looked to the Calisto Pro. I was initially put off by the high price-tag, and some of the negative reviews, but was intrigued by all the functionality and the Bluetooth headset.
It's a good thing I listened to all the good reviews and bought the phone!!
I've used the phone daily for the past month and am extremely pleased with it. The call quality is very clear, the headset is easy to wear (even for 10 hours), the battery lasts for several hours (and I can still talk while the handset is charging in the base) and... with a Bluetooth headset, there's no headset cord to catch while I walk around. Also, this phone DOES work with digital phone service (a previous review mentioned that it didn't)
If you're on the phone for several hours a day, and want the freedom to walk around and do other tasks while talking, this phone is a great purchase. I'd definitely purchase it again.
"Great concept but performance falls way short", The mobility concept is great on this phone. It has a base unit that acts as a charger for the phone and the headset. For quick calls, just pick up the cell phone style phone and talk; it has a small speaker and microphone on the face. You can also switch on the speakerphone which may be OK for certain uses but otherwise sounds like your in a cave. In both of these functions it performs pretty much as expected. Where the main problem lies is with the Bluetooth headset. I have had 3 replacements and the last time they replaced the entire set from a different production batch, all in hopes of solving my only problem: The headset generates an intermittent pop-corn popping sound that is so irritating to you and the person you're calling that it drives everybody crazy. Plantronics needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. In the mean-time I'm living with it but using a corded 2.5mm headset instead of the Bluetooth. Unfortuately, I feel this is still the "best" unit in this niche. If you can find something better, take it.
