This book is great for beginners on lawns! I really enjoyed this book. I worried it might be a big sales pitch for their own products but its not. I am very impressed!


"Best book on lawns currently available"
Don't let the branding fool you -- this is easily the best book on lawns currently available. I've read many books on the subject, and most of them are very simplistic and useless, or spend some time on the lawn and then go off into growing vegetables or flowers. This one is just on lawns, and contains sections on lawn weeds, lawn pests, types of grass -- basically everything you could think to ask or need to know about how to maintain a great lawn.

Makes a terrific housewarming gift, too. I wish someone had given me one!

"good book, pulls you in"
Informative, as well as feeding the spirits. As a hobby book, I didn't want it to be another rocket science book, but I didn't want it to be a cinderella book either, with no details or information. This book served the purpose well. Nice illustrations, makes it easy to do lawns with the information in it. Unless you are looking for something very specific that this book doesn't deal with (why not search the internet for that?), this book will please you, with rounded coverage on the subject.

"Great Starter Book"
Smaller size, sturdy pages, good basic information. I bought this as a gift for a young couple just starting in their new yard. Answered many questions for them, especially what to do first, etc.

"Good Look at Lawns"
This is a well organized comprehensive look at lawns. Don't let that it's authored by Scott's deter you from buying and using the book as a reference for all things lawn. If you have a lawn, no matter what size, you want it to be healthy and look good and this book can help.

"Great Advice", I recently moved into a new house where the previous owner kept great care of the lawn. Along with the whole neighborhood. To start off, i knew nothing about ferilizing, watering, and mowing the correct height. My old philosophy was to try and cut it shorter each time so that i wouldn't have to mow again anytime soon. Needless to say watering and fertilizing was out of the question. This book teaches you everything you need to know in order to grow and maintain a beautiful lawn. Here are some of the key points the book makes about maintaining a healthy lawn.

Fertilizing 4 times a year (spring, summer, fall, and winter)
Watering methods
mowing the correct height
making patterns with a lawn roller (really cool)

These are just some of the main points that really make a HUGE difference in your yard. With time and patience you will be on your way to a great looking lawn. Do yourself a favor, buy this book and take all the guess work out of yard work. Believe it or not you will become obsessed with how your lawn looks!

"Excellent", This is an excellent, brief, but comprehensive book on lawns and lawn care. It covers numerous helpful topics, and in more detail than the other books I have. It's well written, well organized, and has lots of helpful and useful tips. As a new lawn owner, I found much good and timely information here, and it helped me solve a few problems that stymied me before. Overall a fine book and well worth the money.
