"Love all Sid Meier Games"
While this game runs similarly to many of the Civilization group of games, it has a different perspective, different goals and methods. While familiar in game play, there are new things to learn and new challenges for those who enjoy Civ.

"Really awesome strategy game."
This game isn't about a story line. It's about strategy and lot's of it. It's about as straight forward as you can get. The Easy mode is what I'd suggest for people who want to either get acquainted with strategy games or just not think, but still play this genre of game. It gets harder only a reasonable amount as you go up in difficulty. There is no split screen, but you can easily connect online to somebody for a head to head match. All the fun facts that are in the game a pretty good bonus I'd say. You don't need to know the history behind the things, but it's just enough information to remain interesting. Overall, you really can't go wrong with this game unless you're going for achievements and you are really horrible at strategy games. Maybe the worst part is that you can spend hours on the game and not notice it. lol

"Unsure if it's a worthy buy"
I agree with much of what many say about the game's short length. It's definitely addictive, fun, but most certainly NOT price-worthy. From a novice into the civ games, I enjoy the gameplay alot but yet still have difficulty grasping certain concepts. But, regardless, the game needs to be longer...or at the very least give players the option of extending it to unpredictable outcomes. So I'll return my rental in a day or so, but probably won't buy it afterwards.

"Its not worth it"
Pros:
The turns do not have to be manually selected when there are no changes in the game play. Turns automatically cycle though if you have no available moves. I also liked the creating of armies with 3 separate groups of soldiers.

Cons:
BOOOORRRRING....
The game lacks the strategy from the previous versions.
You have no control over the workers, yes you can tell them what they should do, but I prefer control over them, to tell them where they need to go etc.
The game seems to cater to 5 year olds. Whats up with the goofy characters popping up on the screen talking gibberish. Very annoying. You can turn off the gibberish sounds but cant turn off the goofy characters. They just annoy you through the entire game. I literally expect Goofy to pop up, thats how goofy these characters look.
The is no auto explore. You gotta manually make each move.
The map is too small. You run into other Civs within a few moves.
The game is too short. I would like a little depth, thank you.
The cartoony like graphics were disappointed. I, and I am sure most other Civ fans, would have prefered a more realistic type graphics in the game.

Overall, as a Civ fan, I was highly disappointed in this game, even pre-orderd the damn thing. If you are a Civ fan, and would like to check out this game, wait til the price drops and see if you can get it for 5 bucks, because that is all it is worth to me.

"Fun"
I loved it! Accidentally wrote my review for the game in the strat guide. So vice versa here, the strat was nice easy to read and informative.

What our customer's say!

"Disapointing ending", We played this game for a few months straight, and couldn't put it down. The main complaint with this game is the game progresses way too fast and just when it's starting to get good, it ends. The "the game will end in 5 turns" prompt is the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced. The graphics were amazing, a lot of the thinking was taken out of the game for you, and there is very little customizing in the game to be done. The worst thing about it was that it never seems to get out of the post-bronze age, and that once your weaponry gets more advanced, the game is over. Oh and might I add that you can't attack land from water even with a battleship or sub, redering your navy almost useless. You can only attack water vessels to water and you can use your ships for transport. Your soldiers don't update with the times and being stuck with archers towards the end of the game when your enemys have seasoned officers and militia can be quite annoying. Overall, stick with the PC version folks, it's a much better longer, more satisfying play. I did enjoy the PS1 Version quite a bit as well.

"SID MYERES REVOLUTION", Very easy and fun game. Takes a long time to play. This is like a hyper civilized version of RISK. I wish it were a little more realistic.
However very fun to play especially for us middle age gamers!

"Know what you're getting . . .", . . . and that is Civilization Lite. This game is not the next step in the Civ series. If you (like me) like your Civilization large, long and deep, this game is not for you. There's some new stuff here (stack three units together to form a more powerful army; kidnap a great person with your spy) and it is well done, but hard-core Civ players are going to be disappointed.

The plus side is that it is extrememly accessable. Games can be played in a couple of hours (as opposed to days) and the game concepts have been streamlined. Meaning those who are put off by the micromanaging of the PC version (read, my kids) can really enjoy this game. So if you're looking for an introduction to Civ (or have attention deficit problems), this may be the game for you. If you're looking for Civ V or even an expansion of Civ IV, take a pass.

"Great Game", Por fin un juego de estrategia, tipico de PC, es posible jugarlo con el xbox... excelente eleccion,,,

"Great simple game", This game is a great game that doesn't require alot of thought to have fun with my only problem with the game is it takes forever while playing online.

"Always liked the PC version, and this one is great too!", I started playing Civ when it first came out umpteen years ago. It seems to keep getting better with age. I was quite excited to see the demo pop up on the 360, so I played it a few times just to see what things looked like. I was impressed, so went ahead and ordered it.

I have been having a blast!

My only complaint is there is no way to really get in and tweak the start of the game. You go up against a certain number of players, and the land is a certain size. I prefer to go all out and have a large area with lots of enemies, as that makes for a deeper experience.

As it is though, I am enjoying it, and at the end of the day that's all the counts to me.

"Civilization's Baby Brother", Lives up to the Civilization standard! It's a great game and I guarantee you'll love your first victory in world domination - with whatever path you choose. Unlike previous Civilizations for the PC this one goes along with a faster pace and less customizations (basically no pre-game customizations); however, the multiplayer is far more engaging and easily accessible. This is a game you want in your collection, especially if you haven't played a Sid Meier game.

"Good for an hour of play at most", This game was a total let down. The time moves so fast, that just as things get interesting, the game ends. And it is not like the old one where you could keep playing (even though you had won), in this version, it just ends. you can start over, but the same thing happens again.

COMPLETE LET DOWN.....

"Great first try for the console", Pro's

* Excellent Graphics
* Great Game Play
* Games are not as long and tiresome as the original PC game

Con's
* I get a headache after playing too long b/c of the way the screen moves from one city to another. It bounces all over the place after you have built tons of cities.
* Not a huge variety of units and buildings compared to PC civ

Multiplayer -

Pro's
*Games are completed fairly quick appx 2-4 hours

Con's
*Lots of disconnects and lock ups which are very annoying
*Games are not customizable
*Only allows 4 people in multiplayer

Overall the game is still fun to play! I have logged several hours trying to unlock all the achievements.

"A great console revision, but missing soem good options ", First of all. This game was not meant to be Civ 5. It is a whole new game in the civ series. It is meant to bring casual gamers into the civ fold.
It has MUCH less options compared to the computer games for that reason.
Games will take 3-5 hours. If you play teams you can get done even faster. The multiplayer works well. You can control the timer on custom multiplayer games but you cannot control the timer speed on ranked games(must be on normal)Xbox live keeps tabs on peoples ranks. You don't have to join ladders like the PC.
A great feature about this game is the ability to talk to you allies and opponents over your headset! Diplomacy is conducted through speaking rather than typing. A big improvement.
There are some options missing that would have help for replayability though. You cannot control the world size or the number of players. You cannot change the climate or anything like that. The maps are still randomly generated, but the options are standard for every game. I think this would have helped for replayablility and just for the challenge.
Overall its a great way to play civ in half the time of the computer game. The next civ for a console will no doubt have many of the features that are missing in this one. We have to remember that this is the first one they have made for a console. Its still addictive and all around fun to play. If you cant live without all the technicalities of Civ, stick to the computer version. If you can I would recommend it for purchase overall.
