"Ehh Run?" Ive had mine for a month, it was grreat at first, now it deleted all of my 3000 songs i had on it, it will only add 400 back and it says error every time i try to sync it. ive had a 8gb before and the play and back button would freeze all the time. it may be my luck, or maybe zunes just suck. i never had this many problems with my ipod although i had some on occation, non to this extent
"Great Device" I absolutely love this device. It is packed full of features and has great performance. With the latest firmware update, they have added 2 games onto the device (more games can be added by using some MS Tools).
The touch sensitive control pad makes it easy to navigate your selection, even quick movements of your finger in an up or down motion will make your selection bar move quickly, almost like a roulette wheel.
Movies are breeze to get on. I converted a number of my home movies using DVD Catalyst, and the quality was amazing on the device.
The 4 star rating is because of the quirks it has:
My only complaints are that it forces you to use the Zune Software. I would have much rather used Windows Media Player to create playlists and sync, or have the ability to copy files directly to it like a removable USB Device (my wife's Gigabeat S30 can do this function). The only thing I do like about the Zune Software, is that it makes tagging/grouping movies I've converted (I ripped my Band Of Brothers Collection, and it allowed to mark them all as being related, with episode numbers, titles, etc), as for music and playlist transfer...I still would rather have WMP
I also have noticed that the touch pad is extremly sensitive. At times, I have accidentally jumped songs, or messed with the volume not even realizing it.
An included AC Adapter would have been nice too, but the only thing included in the box is a USB cable. While it does charge quickly, this makes getting a quick recharge in an airport difficult without pulling out lots of equipment.
Battery life is ok...depending on what you are doing...for music, it'll last you a while, but for movies, I was only able to watch 1 1/2 movies before it powered off.
Overall, even with it's quirks, I would 100% recommend this device who is looking for a feature loaded mp3 player.
"Buy something else!" I purchased an 80Gig Zune in September 2008. I paid 239.00 here at Amazon, so I don't know where they are getting the 500.00 price tag. Anyway, I owned it for two months, and was generally happy with it. The interface software is difficult to work with. You would think Microsft, the makers of Office, could come up with something more friendly than their Zuneware. The hard drive froze up and failed completely after 2 months. It takes about 6 weeks to get it to the factory, get it fixed, and returned. This is lost warranty time. I replaced it with a 120Gig Zune. The hard drive on this one failed within four hours of turning it on. I sent it back. I'm done with Zune. Microsoft cannot make a reliable product or decent software for it.
"AWSOME Devise!!" I love this Zune 80. Its a awsome devise. LOTS of storage. Awsome LCD screen. Big one to. Awsome Premium Earbuds. If it doesn't come with them send it back. The ear buds make the orignail ear bugs sound like its from the past. Over all I love this Zune. I also bought a 120 Zune too and I am keeping them both. Don't pay 400+ for this or buy a USED one cuz you never know what your gonna get. Sellers LIE ALOT!! I know I have delt with plenty of them on Amazon.
"Piece of s**t" I think the problem was the crap software. It worked fine for months then I upgraded the software to version 3 and it froze up and never worked again. I eventually threw it away because it would never respond again. Completely dead. Over $200 wasted on this thing because of crap software from Microsoft. Thanks for destroying my Zune you idiots. I'll never buy another one.

What our customer's say!
"DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY", Everything about Zune sucks - so please don't waste your money! The device is flawed, the software sucks, and the social is a joke! Save yourself a lot of frustration and steer clear of Zune.
"Are u serious?!", How is this possibly $549... is that a typo or somthing? Two weeks ago it was less than $280 brand new.
"Zune Opinion - 6 months in", I've had my Zune for about 6 months now, and it has fast become a valuable and entertaining part of my tech. I was previously attracted to the alternative the Zune gave to the iPod, as the items were previously pretty similar.
However, now that the Zune 3.0 software has been released, it's versatility has increased dramatically. Things such as the Channels, which provide you with a list of songs each week that conform to a theme of your choosing. The Pics section, which provides suggestions for you based on your current listening habits, is a great way to explore new music. I'm not using the buy from FM (a feature which tells you what song and arist you are listening to on the radio, and gives you the option to buy it) or the Zune Marketplace (which allows you to buy songs over a wifi connection and instantly download them), but I can see how they would be useful to others.
But the killer app that compliments all these features is the Zune Pass, which for a monthly fee allows you to download as many songs as you like. This makes finding and trying new music interesting, fun and legal.
I find it amazing how much this device has changed since I bought it, both on the Zune hardware side, and the software side. If they continue to expand this versatility I think I will be owning my Zune for a long time to come.
I'd heartily recommend the Zune to anyone wanting to expand their music collection and expose themselves to new artists and styles. If that's you, then the Zune is your device.
"ZUNE 80 GB is great", Zune 80 GB Digital Media Player, Red (2nd Generation)
The Zune 80gb is awesome. I've had the device for a month now and I love it. It's well worth the price, although I paid less than the advertised price.
"Battery life or defective product?", I initially purchased the 80gb Zune through Amazon.com as a *new* product about 6 weeks ago, and at the time it offered the lowest price out there at $199 w/no tax or shipping. After about 2 weeks of waiting, I received this supposedly new product, only to find the top of the item where the lock switch is located was totally scratched up! I immediately mailed it back to Amazon for a full refund, as I did not want to wait another 2+ weeks for yet another possible "used", "new" item.
At about that time I returned the Zune, Microsoft released the 120gb, thereby reducing the price on all their Zunes by about 25%. So, off to Wal-Mart I went, where I purchased the 80gb for $198, plus tax. I've now had the Zune for about 2 weeks, and I had the battery die after only using it about a total of 1 hour. Granted, it sat in my bag for about 10 days without the lock on it, so it's possible that the battery just drained from nonusage. After charging it, (and it took a LONG time before the battery charge light would actually appear on the screen), I then downloaded some songs for a few hours and went to listen to it afterward. After about 20 minutes of listening, the Zune froze mid-song, shut off, and would not turn back on no matter what I did. There was no warning that the battery was running low. Zip. It wasn't until I plugged it in to charge that I discovered the battery was low. I'm thinking that I got a defective Zune and will return it to Wal-Mart this morning and get a new one to re-load my 150 or so songs. I have to say, I purchased this Zune as a replacement to my Dell DJ (20gb), and I never had these problems with my Dell in the 4 years I owned it. Here's hoping for a non-defective Zune when I exchange it today. Sheesh!

Read this reviews before You buy...
"RIPOFF", The seller "sellonsellon" is a SCAM artist. I ordered and paid for the product on September 1st and as of October 2nd have not received it. Numerous emails to the seller have gone unanswered. I have asked Amazon to refund my money.
"Love", I loved my Zune, all the way. I've never had an iPod, I'm sure they're great but I've always wanted something with radio built in that could hold all of my songs. The only mp3 I've had before this was a Sony 256 MB Walkman. Ha! Only held 100 songs. I had my Zune for 2 months before I lost it (probably stolen) and it made me so mad. That thing was awesome!
"Zune is pretty good.", I like the sound quality of my Zune. It is easy to operate and get started using- that is after you spend an eternity charging it for the first time. It took me 4 1/2 hours to charge it and you can't do a thing with it until it is finished. That is my only complaint with my Zune that its' charge runs down very quickly-even when you are not using it-and it takes a long time to charge it from the USB port on your PC. However, for my first venture into the MP3 world, I will say it was relatively easy.
"Could have been really great", The main reason people are going to choose the Zune over anything else is the size of the hard drive and with the new 120gb model out its simply an enormous amount of storage but Microsoft have made a dogs dinner out of some of the features.
1. Software. Extremely annoying-doesn't delete when it says it does, synching is a right pain with a silly folder method, drag and drop doesnt work all of the time.
2. Extras. Unless youre a computer geek then any videos you want to put on this have to be converted to WMV files or MP4 files and this involves buying a converter. It takes an absolute age to both convert and then synch these onto the Zune. It doesnt come with a case of any kind unlike the Iriver H10,see below.
3. Audio. Iriver owners will appreciate what I'm saying here. I had a H10 for years and the amount of presets it had including an equalizer AND SRS wow made the H10 a superb player accoustically. The Zune has absolutely nothing!!! I mean come on! Not even bog standard treble and bass like your old Sony 1990 walkman used to have.
4. Radio. Yes its great to have a radio but why not have presets?
Ok thats the negatives. The positives are that the screen is beautiful and clear and its easy to use and is a monster of a thing at 80gb and 120gb respectively.
I got mine as a present-if I had bought it I probably wouldnt have been amused-the lack of any equalizer on the sound really is incredible though.
"AMAZINGLY GREAT !!!", It's an amazing device that keeps you organized in the music, videos, games, pictures, and any other documental information you want to input it.
