I loved this movie! The acting is excellent!

Show your support of the making of good movies that support virtue. Buy a NEW DVD to encourage Hollywood to produce more Christian movies. Buying a NEW DVD is like voting for more good Christian movies.


"Glad I purchased it!"
I usually am cautious about buying movies, because I don't want to be stuck with a bad movie. This was recommended by others, so I gave it a try. I have no regrets over buying Amazing Grace. It was quite good. This is one movie I am proud to own.

"You will not throw out the voice of the people!"
1. England 1797, 11 million African slave have been taken to Great Britain.
2. William Wilberforce was a British politician advocating the abolition of slavery. Why withdraw from the America's. 1 in 4 are loyal to the Crown. Britain had the largest and strong army in the world. Wilberforce is an independent member of parliament. Wilberforce debates directly with Duke of Clarence the son of the King.
3. Wilberforce friend is William Pitt. Pitt becomes Prime Minister in 1783.
4. The slaves wastes and blood fill the holes in three days. The slaves are branded. Wilberforce is petition to do the work of God and meet the requirements of a political activist. Pitt arranged the meeting. Pitt has asked Wilberforce to take on the slavers.
5. Wilberforce seeks out John Newton for spiritual guidance. "I'm a simple man. I pretend to be a monk, but I don't have the will power." "What do you want from your old preacher". "I'm here to ask your advice." "Slowly my faith is returning." "How slowly?" "No bolt of lightening." Wilberforce tells Newton that Pitt has offer him a place in the world. "Are you contemplating a life of solitude" Newton was a slave trader haunted by the dead slaves saying "I still have blood on my hands". Newton encourages Wilberforce to take on the slavers.
6. Conditions in Jamaica were terrible, children scalded with molten lava, sugar plantations. "Can you dilute what I feel?" 240 slaves delivered on the Madagascar. "Remember God made man equal". "It is painful because we haven't changed anything."

9. Wilberforce visit's the a slave ship and hears the horrors of slave trade. Wilberforce talks with an African prince who explains his last days in Africa.
10. Wilberforce speaks against the slave trade, India trade, and disturbs the tories, in the house of commons. "I believe you all to be men of humanity". "Without slaves we would have no plantations. How would we fill the coffers of the King?" Without slaves, the French will step in and take our place. Dorbin says "How can I vote to end their livelihood" and an activist says, "Shame on you".

"Amazing Grace (DVD)"
I was hoping to see more of John Newton, the author of "Amazing Grace," in the movie, but other than that it was all I expected. It took a few minutes to sort all the characters into their place in the scheme of the movie. The struggles of William Wiberforce to end the slave trade along with his health problems made the movie even dramatic. The closing scene with the bagpipes is among the most touching scenes I have ever experienced with any movie. The movie may have a few flaws, but the overall message gives it five stars plus in my book.
