"Review of Acronis 11 back up program"
Back up program works well for full back up but I cannot get it to do an incremental or differencial back up.
I do not understand why it will not work for me. I have version 7 on my daughter's computer and it works every time with incremental.

"Won't install -- Useless tech support"
I ordered, tried to install. I have 4 machines. It would only install on 2. When I emailed tech support, it took more than a week each time. They clearly did NOT read my email because their response was inappropriate and useless. 3 strikes and they are out. I returned it and bought other software. I have Win XP Media Center Pro on 3 machines and XP Pro on the 4th. Forget this one.

"Hangs almost on every backup. Very buggy"
I use this product in Windows Vista and I am extremely dissatisfied. It hangs almost every time and taking a simple backup should be rerun with reboot several times. A backup is a horror. I submitted also a support request and didn't get any answer yet. I strongly discourage Vista users buying this software. It is better just to archive (zip) your stuff or go and use the backup tool coming with Vista.

"Poor support, no updates in 7 months"
I've used this product since version 7 and it got progressively better .. that is, until the current version 11. There have been no updates to the product since November 2007 despite numerous bugs pointed out on their customer forum. The one that bit me was a huge one; the product does not allow you to set up reliable backup schedules! Despite following the instructions exactly, the scheduled backups do not run. Acronis has acknowledged the bug and has provided a workaround that involves moving specific bug fixes to hard-to-locate system files -- something no user should have to do. They claim to be fixing the problems "in the soon-to-be-released fix" but that fix is yet to be provided. The shame of it is that this is a very good product IF it works for you -- and as you can see from the numerous 1-star ratings here, it does NOT work for many people. Acronis owes their users an update to resolve the outstanding problems. But they will probably release a new version instead and expect us to pay an upgrade charge for it, instead of resolving the numerous bugs that have already been pointed out.

Acronis takes AWHILE to update for known shortcomings ...

"Acronis works for me; others didn't", I have had major, and continuing, problems with Vista. I experience anywhere from 1 to 5 crashes per week. Back in May I ordered Acronis 11 but, after reading all the 1-star reviews, I got cold feet and returned it to Amazon unopened (you have to LOVE Amazon's customer-friendly return policy!).
In the meantime I have tried TeraByte (I bought and paid for this one which didn't work for me) and 4 other programs. They all failed universally.
Finally, out of desperation, I re-read the online reviews and once again reasoned that Acronis 11 was the best thing to try. I downloaded a 15 day trial and have had EXCELLENT results with it. My computer crashed this morning and I was able to boot from the Acronis 11 Boot Disk that I made previously and then restore just the Boot files from my latest Incremental backup. I was back up and running perfectly in about 5 minutes. This same caper has taken me hours, and occasionally days, in the past.

I have re-ordered Acronis 11 from Amazon and will shortly register the software so I can use it continuously.

If you are looking for backup software, I have a few recommendations:

1. DONT BUY ANYTHING AT THE BEGINNING! This whole backup/restore thing is so complicated that you have to determine what works for you individually.

2. Start downloading free trials (I think you should start with Acronis 11). Don't even consider software that doesn't offer a free trial.

3. If you try something that doesn't work, don't rant and write 1-star reviews. Just calmly conclude, "well, that one didn't work for me".

4. Keep trying free downloads until you find something that works for you and then buy that one.

I will be anxiously recovering from the buggy-Vista crashes with the help of Acronis 11 and hoping nothing happens to make it stop working for me and my computer.

Thanks to you, Amazon & Acronis. No thanks to you, Microsoft.



"Great Back up Application", I found this program to be a smooth easy to use disk imaging/backup solution for my new 1 TB hard drive PC. It is very easy to operate and it does what it says it will do.

"Love This Program!", Love it! Does everything I want, can look at the uncompressed files with
windows explorer. In my opinion, way better and safer than Norton.
It's great to know I can restore all or part of my computer! The positive
reviews were right on this one!

"Doesn't work with Boot Camp", Doesn't work with Windows XP installed on a Mac using Boot Camp...don't waste your money like I did.

"Acronis True Image 11 Home", With rebate and Amazon's price this is a great deal on a fine product which does what it claims. If you use it once to reclaim a hard drive failure you will have gotten more back in saved time and aggravation than you paid for the program.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Excellent product with excellent support", I bought True Image 11 because my research on imaging software showed it to be among the best, if not THE best, of its type. I'm an amateur photographer with thousands of digital images and various applications on my hard drive, and I don't relish the thought of a hard drive crash without some way to restore the files, apps, and OS just as they were before the crash. True Image 11 installed without a hitch, and I decided to perform a manual backup (without reading the manual). This was accomplished with no problems, but now the program told me that I had no backup, and I'd better get crackin'. An e-mail to Acronis support brought the answer (thanks, Vladimir!). You have to SCHEDULE the backup, and when it's performed the warning goes away. Do it like the manual says and you'll have no problem. I haven't given this product the acid test of a complete restore of my C:/ drive, but I have complete confidence that this could be easily done.

This is a great product! Get it!

"Junk", This software is junk, It will backup just fine. Good luck with restore. Tech support is worse. Be forewarned test your backup before you buy. I have a boxed version which will now be a companion with my garbage can till it's dumped.

"good replacement", Was having problems with and older version after an update to Windows SP3
11 fixed the problem. Found out afterwards that there was an update to my older version of true image. Service was good from Amazon.Acronis True Image Home V11.0

"What Norton Ghost used to be but better", Acronis Home 11 is what Ghost used to be. Makes disk images? YES. Every conceivable option. Emergency Recovery? YES. Backups and restores? YES. Vista Compatible? YES. Flawless. My best software purchase last 12 months.

"No provision for password change", Don't password protect. I could not get the program to recognize a valid password and there is no way around it unless you uninstall and start over. I am reasonably intelligent, but the documentation is poorly written. I am not recommending this product at this time.
