"a padded out Kids...in a good way." Yes,the kids are alright did need an update but the 1st disc is kind of irrelevant as it was mostly on Kids anyway although it was good to see Chris Stamp get a chance to say something and john's mrs was bang on with john getting bugger all attention, even this time it basically he was great on bass and the french horn (is that some sort of huge in japan reference?)and a complete spendthrift. And Keith still is just KEEF!!!! again the old tale of some sort of ginger vision appearing at a concert insisting he could play better than the fill in drummer is trotted out and the nonsense about The Who being banned permanently from Holiday Inns is back again.
2nd disc is excellent should have been more like this.
you should get this however if you don't have Kids, Live at leeds, the Isle of wight DVD and Dark Side of the Moon (book) get those first. then this. ok?.
"The Who Amazing Journey The story of the Who" When I was fifteen in 1965 I heard a record called My Generation on our "pirate"radio station Veronica ( a ship on the North Sea ). I can remember that I got goose flesh immediately. I bought the album as soon as it came on the Dutch market. And I am glad that I stiil have it ( in mono ). This record changed my life as well as my musical life. And even now I got goose flesh by looking at the dvd The story of the Who. It did not disappear. I think it is incredible that this band and its music stayed in my mind and life for that long. I therefore thank the members of the Who for the amazing journey and the story.
"The Who is Given Its Due!" Anyone familiar with rock 'n roll knows the Who. But in some ways, I think their contributions and creative standing are a little under appreciated. This documentary has all kinds of great insight into the band with firsthand accounts of their exploits and creative process. If you're a fan, get it. If you're a curious fan of the history of rock music, it's just as interesting.
"Best Story ever told of The Who" Excelent documentary! Great Production! as a rock musician loved it, brought me close to tears at the end.
"Who Journey Needs More Detail" An overall excellent bio, but the video skips over The Who By Numbers album and should have had more detail on the mid '70s period. Also, we were teased with some great live footage, especially the Live At Leeds show. I would have liked to see more live footage.

What our customer's say!
"Great video about rock's greatest band", I've been a Who fan for over 30 years, when I first saw "The Kids Are Alright." This DVD goes beyond that movie and provides some classic concert footage, classic interviews as well as recent interviews with Pete and Roger, and many of the other managers and people involved in the behind the scenes part of The Who. This is definatley a "must have" for any true Who fan. Long Live Rock!!
"Great WHO Film...just wish the songs were complete", This couda and shouda been there version of the Beatles Anthology. I love the fact the movie they cuss alot in it. They speak in their common spoken language, being free and real, not made for tv for sure. Its very indepth and compelling as far as the storytelling goes and very enjoyable to watch its first run through, Im not so sure on repeat watches because every F--ing song they fade out 1/3 in, I want to see and hear the song!!!!!!! I mean why they do that? Whats there hurry?? I have all night to see and enjoy this movie, its made for people WHO have no attention spans.....WHO is to blame?!
It really pissed me off to see these RARE original song promos made and directed by Kit Lambert and fade out after 25 seconds.....WHY!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me redo this as a "special edition: I will re-insert the songs and let it play out, add a few videos along the way, double the length and it will be a masterpiece movie Milestone for this band....until then......go see "The Kids are Alright".
"Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who", The WHO!! How can you go wrong? As one of the great lasting Rock and Roll bands from the 60's, THE WHO never disappoint. The documentary "Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who" shows the growth of the band throughout the years of turmoil within the group. The rare footage, collected for this film, is amazing. The footage dates back to what appears to be pre-Decca recordings though the 2007 Hollywood Bowl performances. The detailed background of their history includes the merging of The Who, the loss of Keith Moon and John Entwistle, and the survival of the band with only Pete Townshend and Roger Daultrey in the lead positions. This film is a must for who fans and an absolute for all fans of Classic Rock and Roll.
"a fine counterpoint to Kids are Alright", A bit different format then Kids are Alright with some new insight into how the band formed and the love/hate relationship between Pete and Roger. Definitely worth getting if your a Who fan. For people just discovering The Who, I probably recommend Kids are Alright DVD for your first exposure into the inner workings of this legendary band.
"Ok, so they're not kids anymore....", So, the who are not kids anymore, but they're still alright. I've been a fan of the Who since I first heard "Happy Jack" way back when. I remember buying the single and playing the grooves off of it. This turned me on to one of the greatest rock bands in history, and I never lost my enthusiasm. I'm glad this two DVD set came out, and I'm glad it revealed the ups and downs the band has had over thier long career. Glad because it shows the Who as a bunch of human beings with all the faults and shortcomings of any human being. But, it also shows them in thier glory, as the greatest rock band you could ever imagine. The sheer power and brute force of the Who is shown, as well as the tender side. The recording session for "Real Good Looking Boy" is excellent stuff. By the way, Zak Starkey looks just like his dad, even if his drumming style is different. And seeing the great Greg Lake on bass was a real treat! Anyhow, this is great stuff, this DVD, and if you're a Who fan you should get it. If you're a Who fan, you already know most of it anyway, but you should still get it.

"Long Lost Clips", As a Who fan it was great to see some of the long lost clips. I still recommend "The Kids Are Alright", and the extended "Montery Pop" for a good introduction to the Who at their best live.
"The Who (one of the gretest bands in the world) video", This video is amazing. The Who is definitely one of the best bands in the entire world, whether you think it or not. Pete, Roger, Keith, and John compliment each other to form a unique sounding band. Watching this video allowed me to find out more about The Who than i knew before.
"The Best Rock Documentary Ever", What a great DVD! More a companion to The Kids Are All Right, than a replacement, this documentary covers the entire history of The Who, with footage never seen before. The insight of the surviving members, and those who were close to the band is unprecedented. Whether you're a casual fan, or a Who fanatic, this will not disappoint.
The bonus DVD is chock full of great stuff as well. You can't go wrong with this one.
"Mike's review of the Amazing Journey", I was more than pleased with the Amazing Journey. I've been a lifelong fan of the Who, and it was great to see their incredible story told with great interviews and amazing film footage. I really enjoyed the Quickies, in particular the ones on Pete and John. All rock fans should have a chance to see these two DVDs, because they really show what a fantastic band the Who was (and still is, although Keith and John can never be replaced).
"Entertaining Intro to the Who", This is an entertaining history of my favorite band. Most of the footage I had not seen before, though I was disappointed there was no full-song concert footage. As far as content goes, there's not much new. We hear Pete explain for the billionth time why he smashed his guitar. No great revelations there. But what can an avid Who fan expect from such DVDs? If you really like the band, you've exhausted the catalogue. If you are unfamiliar with the Who, this is a good primer. The extra DVD is worth watching, as it gives great footage of all four members individually. For my money, the best Who treatment was the 30 Years of Maximum R & B feature done in 1994, which showed me, for the first time, the spectacular Second Isle of Wight concert footage as well as terrific versions of "Happy Jack" and "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere." Amazing Journey, however, is not bad at all.
