"Philips 6.5 inch frame - Junk!", Overall this is a nice frame in terms of brightness and picture quality. Does not deal well with more than 200 or so pictures on the SD card - when you put more than that on the card the frame will freeze after 5 images in slideshow mode. The work around for this was to start the picture frame without the card in then to put the card in after the frame was on...didn't seem to freeze then. We bought 5 for gifts last Christmas for family. 3 of them are now completely dead (2 within 2 weeks, and 1 lasted 6 months), and everyone we gave them to had problems with getting the SD card to work (tried 5 different brands of SD card, it's the frame, not the cards with problems).

Philips customer support is non-existent - they do not respond to emails, and you can't get them by phone. Because of this I WILL NEVER BUY a Philips product again. This one clearly has serious hardware flaws seen in 5/5 of our frames (SD card does not work consistently), with only 2 out of 5 frames actually working after 6 months...Price and packaging are there to lure you in, but this frame is otherwise a huge waste of money unless you want a frame that will only last a couple of weeks (2 dead in 2 weeks, 1 lasted 6 months).

Had to argue with Amazon to accept them back as well...

"Great little DPD for the price", This is the third model of Philips I've purchased. Their displays are great. The user interface requires trial and error. Compared to other units I've seen, it definitely has fewer features, but if you're looking for foolproof playback of your photos (and not videos and music) with clarity, high contrast, and wide viewing angle, this little unit is hard to beat for the price.

"good buy", pros: clear, expandable, affordable
cons: small (good for office desk though), has to press a few buttons to play default slide show when power turned on.

"PIX QUALITY & PRICE", Resolution for the dollar (I paid $50) beats anything I could find in early May for a 5.6-inch frame. Nothing else I looked at came close. This item does not have a remote, which is not a feature I need, so I am very satisfied with this product...pictures are great.

"Decent Product/Good Price", Overall, it is a decent product and purchased at a good price. Functions as I expected. The quality of the screen is much better than I expected, but the screen size is not big enough. I wish I would have purchased a larger screen size. My wife now has it for her office......she loves it.

"Great gift purchase", This is a fabulous gift item. It was purchased to provide a special Mother's Day gift. Using old photographs that were scanned into the computer and then transferred to the frame, the pictures were crisp and clear. It was a great opportunity to reflect the many years that were covered. Needless the say, the gift recipient was quite pleased; however, you definitely need to have computer knowledge when working with this item.

"Decent little frame ", The only reason I'm giving this a 4-star instead of 5-star review is the price. I got this for $50 in the Gold Box and would pay up to $70-80 for another one for my grandmother. But $150? You've got to be kidding.

I shoot in camera raw (Olympus) and convert to 4x6 jpgs before importing to the frame. I'm able to store about 90 photos on the frame this way. I like that you can customize slideshows, change speeds, rotate images, etc right in the frame. Very easy to use and excellent picture quality. I come from a family of photographers and everyone has been impressed by the resolution and accurate color of the screen.

This frame and accompanying software work great for me, but I have a PC. Can't really comment on all the Mac users' complaints.

"Use the included software.", It's on the small size but it is excellent quality with a easy-to-use menu system.

When you use the supplied USB cable to connect it to your PC, Windows will mount all the frame's memory ports (there are five, the frame itself has a small amount of built in memory, and four additional ports to accomodate all the memory cards you might add). Windows with look for the first available drive letter past C: and then add the ports sequentially, even if you already have something mounted there. Initally, it took me a while to figure out that I couldn't access my added CF memory card because my first available drive letter was F: and I had a network drive mounted on H:. I had to disconnect my H: drive before I could see the CF card in the frame.

It is tempting to just use windows to copy your jpgs to the mounted memory, but don't bother. This frame may not display them. Install and use the supplied software to copy your pictures from your PC to the frame. The software will optimally reformat the pictures as you copy them. In addition to fixing small differences in your jpgs internal format, the images will be resized appropriately for the resolution of the frame. Doing that you will be able to store MANY MORE photos on small memory cards. You might already have one lying around your house, left ver from a digital camera memory upgrade.

"Great deal, high resolution 4:3 std format frame.", The Philips 5.6" digital picture frame is the best in terms of price and features. This one boasts a 4:3 format 640 by 480 pixel bright display measuring 5.6" diagonally. While not the largest frame in size, the included features make this one a keeper. Most frames on the market today are typically a wide-format display. Almost all digital cameras take pictures in 4:3 format. This means that a 4:3 frame will show your entire picture without cropping or stretching.

This frame includes a CF slot and a second slot that supports multiple formats of flash memory. It also includes onboard memory which allows you to store 60-100 pictures.

The colors are impressive and pictures are sharp. I got the frame recently when Amazon had it for ~$50 during their 2008 Mother's Day promotion and it is so worth the price.

Some other neat features:

1. Can be used as an alarm clock with customizable photo/message display
for the event.
2. Programmable slide shows and albums, easy to organize.
3. Says it supports SDHC memory (I did not test this).
4. Programmable auto power off/on.
5. Removable (changeable?) outer plastic frame.

No problems with the included software on my PC platform (Windows XP). Pretty much drag and drop and the software does the necessary conversions to copy your photos to the correct resolutions so it saves memory.

"easy to use", I received this as a Christmas gift and really like it. It was very easy to use and figure out. It came with a program to put on my PC that was relatively simple, although it did take me a bit to figure out how to delete pictures. The instructions on that were a bit confusing (it could have just been me though) but I figured it out in the end. It holds about 70 pictures but of course it all depends on their size. I have no complaints about the quality of the pictures or the features. I love that it has a timer so you can have it turn off at night or only turn on for certain lengths of time.. Also, as far as durability, I accidentally dropped it the first week I had it and it still works! :) I highly recommend this frame!
