"Finally! The Perfect Pen Tablet"
I have gone through tons of drawing tablets over the last few years, and they have ALL led to disappointment. I had always thought about getting a Wacom tablet because of its rave reviews, but I shyed away from it due to the higher price tag. Well - the addage is true: "You get what you pay for."

The Wacom Bamboo (small) is just a few bucks more than your generic drawing tablets, but it is EXCELLENT! It is very responsive, comfortable to use, and easy to install. I use it extensively with my graphics and animation applications, and it makes everything easier.

Don't be discouraged by the small size of the tablet. It basically makes the tablet space a compressed version of your screen, so the entire screen is virtually accessible from the tablet. I have a 22" widescreen LCD, and it works perfectly with the small size.

You won't be disappointed. I'm definitely sticking with Wacom from now on.

"Great price, good quality"
Works as advertised. Very responsive pen, inexpensive way to get into a tablet solution. I used to use a 6x8 tablet, purchased this for my new Vista laptop. Going to 4x5 wasn't that bad, it is a good compromise in size for convenience.

"excellent for the price"
My previous tablet was about 4 years [...] and they have come a fair distance since then. The added functionality of the buttons on top is great, althought it would be even better if their function could be customized per application. The usb cable disconnects at both ends now which is great. The whole unit is thinner and smaller, yet the usable area is slightly larger. The feel has become even more like drawing on paper. The pen itself is ok, could be a little heavier and the rocker button feel isn't the best, I would prefer it a little firmer. They removed the spot to put the pen IN the tablet which was convenient since I often used it in different positons being that it was so small. The pen holder is hollow and lightweight, it twists open and I filled mine with pennies. Overall really great tablet for the price!

"Big surprise in a small package!"
The product quality was excellent and the performance better than expected. I highly recommend this product for this price. I use photoshop and it satisfies all my needs. I thought that I needed a larger tablet and was reluctant to go with one this size. But I thought I would try it first and make the plunge for the much more expensive tablets at a latter date. Presently I question whether this is going to be necessary and I am well satisfied with what I have. For the price you can't beat this deal!

"graphic tablet"
The Bamboo graphic tablet is very easy to use. The directions are easy to follow. It does take some getting used to in using a tablet if you have not used one before. I like the idea of not casting a shadow on the smartboard when I'm writing. It will make things easier for students to read.

What our customer's say!

"Excellent Product & Customer Service", I won't say much other than, if you edit photographs using Photoshop, this will make your job a lot easier. It's also great for browsing the Internet, rather than using a mouse or mouse pad. Highly recommend this product; customer service is a plus.

"Drawing o.k. Writing not", Bamboo was easy to install on my Mac. I only used it to draw in PhotoStudio and Draw of Openoffice. Works allright. Was able to draw a logo quickly. It has no applications delivered with it, that's why the price is affordable.

"solid", I was looking for something specifically for digital art and was wary about picking this up seeing how its tailored for office use. However I am very satisfied with this tablet and its ease of use in artistic applications. Its a bit on the small side, but its also a lot cheaper than its bigger counterparts.

"Bamboo pen tablet (small) w/pen", I love it! Works great for electronic drawing, painting, and signing your name. Its size is nice, compact and does not take up much space on my desk. I delayed buying for a while, and then took the plunge. I'm glad I did.

"Mixed Feelings", I've had the Bamboo for about 2 months now. I bought it for my home computer, but about a month and a half ago my I got a spiffy new computer at work with a really cheap old mouse. I was doing heavy graphics intensive work, mostly InDesign and Photoshop with a little Dreamweaver thrown in too. And my the damned ball in my mouse kept sticking.

So I brought in my new Bamboo figuring I could solve all my problems at once.

For the first month or so everything worked fine. I hadn't used the tablet too much at home, but I really got the feel of it using it for 12-14 hours a day seven days a week. And I pretty much fell in love with my tablet.

Then it stopped working.

I would boot up my Mac and it wouldn't recognize the tablet. It still worked, sort of, but instead of the tablet working as an entire screen, it worked as a mouse. A very bad mouse. So bad that I considered going back to my original 4 year old mouse with a little rubber ball in it.

I tried fixing it under preferences and it gave the wonderful message "No tablet detected. Try reinstalling the software." So I reinstalled the software (numerous times). Tried finding a more recent driver. And still nothing.

In the end I resorted to bringing in an old Apple Mighty-optical mouse that I had lying around and finishing my project with that. I was uber-disappointed with my Bamboo and probably would have given the damned product only one star, except when I brought it home (just now) it seems to be working on my home computer just fine. If it keeps working, then this is definitely a 4 or 5 star product, but for now I'm afraid I can only give it 2, and hope that out there somewhere a programmer is desperately working on some sort of fix.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"A no BS review from a graphic artist.", So i recently purchased a Genius tablet which i just returned and decided to purchase a Bamboo tablet instead. Now my goals for using a tablet are simple:

- Learn to use a tablet for graphic design\illustration
- Buy something that won't break after 2 weeks
- Buy something that can grow with me for a couple years

This tablet by far exceeds these very simple expectations and then some. I don't care about writing in documents, nor do i care about signatures etc... I care about using a tablet for one reason, drawing. From that point of view here's a list of pros\cons as they've applied to me:

Bamboo Pros:
- Small foot print absolutely ideal for on the go work or small spaces
- Very sturdy feeling! Genius tablet felt a little flimsy on my lap, this feels rock solid.
- Function keys up top are quite helpful
- Scroll wheel up top is awesome for zooming in\out great feature to have on the fly
- Pen holder is helpful so the stylus doesn't get dirty\lost\damaged
- Stylus is comfortable to hold and has a slightly "rubber" feel on the outside easy to keep a good grip
- Stylus comes w/ 2 buttons on the side that have assignable functionality
- Eraser on the top allows you to flip over & erase as you would a pencil
- Nib (tip of stylus that touches tablet) is replacable if need be (good since i've heard they can wear down over long periods of time)
- Stylus itself is battery FREE, AND, wireless, doesn't get much better then that
- Software is amazingly easy to install. Plugged in tablet, threw in CD, installed device drivers, didn't even have to reboot to use it. (A+ for Wacom having the easiest to install USB device i've ever owned)
- Easy to understand configuration software makes it very simple to customize the special function settings and stylus buttons.
- Movement is VERY smooth and fluid, i don't see any jitters at all while moving or drawing (and that's going through a USB Hub w/ 3 other devices connected to that
one hub, and a total of 5 other USB devices connected to this computer. All but 2 are currently in use)
- I can easily see this lasting me much longer than through my "beginners" years.
- Very sleek looking. (Lets face it looks go a LONG way w/ product happiness) Even the packaging was sleek, very remniscent of Apples product packaging, which in my experience has been some of the nicest in the industry.

Bamboo Cons:
- Small footprint = small drawing surface. Some may not like the smaller drawing surface! (It truly doesn't feel odd at all especially for a beginner.)
- Although the high gloss finish on top is very nice looking, it gathers dust real quick.
- Pressure sensitivity is only 512 levels it's slightly noticable but for a beginners tablet no worries.
- Eraser not pressure sensitive
- 2 buttons on stylus are VERY sensitive and they don't "click" like you'd expect. Just be careful it's easy to press one and not know it which can be frustrating.

That's basically it. I need it for one purpose, and thus far it's proving to absolutely exceed all expectations for that (and many other) purpose(s). So if anyone is thinking of getting into digital art, or if you're thinking of a gift idea for someone, this is absolutely my recommendation hands down!

Hope it helps,
Frank...

"Great Tablet", Seeing as I am a first time tablet user, I can't really compare this to any other tablet. Although, I can tell you, I really like this tablet. It really does feel like I am writing on a piece of paper. The approximately four by six area is very easy to work on, not too much space, and not too little space. It does not work well with InkScape, though it does work well with paint.net. I really do like that the pen does not use batteries and that it has customizable pen buttons. The tablet itself works great too, as soon as I plugged it into my computer, Vista instantly recognized it and installed the proper driver. Navigation is easy. Also, the Windows Vista handwriting recognition really rocks. The tablet is also very thin and light weight. I have had some trouble customizing the mouse buttons and tablet buttons. I will figure it out though.

"Easy Install and Great with Photoshop", Just started using the pad so I do not have much to say will write a detailed review in a week or two.

"amazing product", I got this product as a gift for my wife. She likes it a lot. The quality of the product is great and the installation is very easy. I think it is the best choice for entry-level artist.

"cool product, enough panel size", I just received this product. The efficient area seems large enough for general use, such as writing and simple drawing. However, it does not draw continuous curve when the pen tilts more than 20 degree. Purely vertical holding helps. This review is too quick after I got the bamboo, which is my first tablet. I hope its quality is good enough for couple of years of usage.
