"Transferring those records to CD"
I have a lot of old LPS, which I cherish but never listen to. I have no working turntable. After deciding to transfer them to CD, I looked at the choices & selected this TEAC. I am totally satisfied. It is not too difficult to operate & the CDs sound just like the records. That was what I was hoping for. I did have some trouble finding the Digital Audio CDs. They are a specialty item. You might want to order them with the recorder to get started. If you are an old vinyl person, you can bring the music up to date on CD. Try this!

"Richkj"
Everything worked as advertised. Had a question on why CD did not work and found out that my CD player was too old. Customer service was great and accomodating.

"The answer to a prayer!"
I was delighted when I discovered this nifty machine online. It's very intuitive in its operation, and records to a CD with no fuss or muss. The tonearm does what it needs to, without bells & whistles, and I like the automatic return. Without a tracking control, I hope it maintains its speed over time. The only question I might have for others who've had this awhile.......... which replacement stylus (needle) would they recommend getting? I think TEAC had a G-350 model? Would that one fit on this? The TEAC website is useless when it comes to accessories for this unit.

"Teac LP-R400I purchased "

I purchased a Teac LP-R400 the first part of June, I have a lot of records that I wanted to save to CD's. When I started recording, the recorder would start recording and then an error would show and stop recording. I continued to try and ruined severl CD's. It would record record for a while and then just stop. Acouple of times it recorded a whole record and I then finalized it, but when I played it, it recorded some of the songs and then stopped recording and a few songs later it started recording again.
I took the Teac to a certified Teac repair shop, they said that the part that did the recording was malfunctioning. I left the recorder and they said it would be ready in about three weeks. It has now been over a month and it has not been repaired yet. When I talked to them, they said that the part was on back order and they did not know when they would receive the part.
I am very disappointed with the purchase, and because I had to wait for the part I was over the 30 day return time. I would not recomend this Teac LP-R400 to anyone. I will never again buy a Teac product.

"TEAC Turntable"
I have relocated to Asia and was unable to ship my LPs and this LP to CD recorder was just the ticket. Ease of use after a few trys and quality much better than previous TEAC 350(?). After recording to CD I was able to digitalize them using my computer. Only problem was the lack of time B4 my move.

What our customer's say!

"Just what I wanted", I have only had my TEAC LP-R400 for about a month,
it is everything I hoped it would be with the exception
of a tape recorder. I have recorded albums and records
that are 40 to 50 years old - the reproduction is perfect!
I would recommend this player to anyone who wants to save
their old records and albums.

"Good but don't buy the linked CDs-Rs--only digitial audio work", This was great for my husband's large LP collection, and I thought I'd buy the CD-Rs linked with the device by Amazon (or JR, that makes the CDs). He took it upstairs, hooked it up, put on an album and recorded it perfectly onto the CD from JR.

Then we tried to play the CD on the stereo downstairs--no dice. Wouldn't play in his computer either--it showed up as a blank CD. Turns out that you can use only CD digital audio, not the CD audio/music things that I bought BECAUSE they were linked with the TEAC.

Dirty pool, if you ask me. I'm stuck with a bunch of CDs that don't do anything--my computer can't even "find" them. I'm hoping to return them, but more important: buy digital audio CDRs (not even CD-RWs, since the instruction manual warns against them, as they are not playable on all equipment). And to whoever was responsible for linking these two items together: thanks for nothing--it's no fun to have someone disappointed with a Christmas gift! Next time, be more careful, willya?

"Great turntable, CD recorder, decent player", I am impressed at the quality of the turntable. It is a manually operated device, but the CD recording capability from LPs is very good. As a record and CD player, it is a solid player but the sound quality and volume leave a lot to be desired. I bought this item knowing that it wasn't a huge quality sounding item, but a great record player and CD recorder. Cd's by the way, go in one at a time. There is no disc changer.

"unhappy", this company is extremely difficult to get hold of when needed.
The item I purchased was a christmas gift and thanks to the greed of this company the person I bought it for also knows what it is. You have so thoughtfully sent at least a dozen "please buy more for your recorder" to our shared address. Thank you again for the thoughtless inconvience to your customer at a time of year that screams "Gift" I will purchase further electronic items from in town store Best Buys. Thank your for the lesson. Happy Holidays a very unhappy customer, I can not afford to purchase anything else, hoping for a surprise.

"Bring your vinyl up to date.", A great and easy way to get that lp collection onto cd's. Very easy to use, and once you get going you can't stop. Granted you still get the pops and clicks off the vinyl onto the cd but it is still nice to hear your collection again after all these years.

"a nice machine", I purchased this to convert some 78s and LPs to CDs for my mother. It has good sound (I am not an audiophile), tracks well. It is cheaply made (most everything is these days), but does what it is advertised to do. Do not bother with the automatic tracking. I used manual track advancement as most LPs have plenty of background noise or no break between songs. The included remote proved very handy. Many people don't like these as they record all the "pops" etc. I found if I clean the records well, even an 80 year old 78 sounds fine. Buy the extra needles (stl 103), and plenty of AUDIO CDs. I only ruined one (not following instructions) by turning off the machine before finalizing the disc. It has inputs but no outputs, built in radio, but no tape player. Required little set-up preparation.

6 month follow up: no problems. I hooked up a cheap tape player and recorded several cassettes. I have recorded over 80 hours of 78s-LPs-cassettes without any errors. My biggest complaint is that the remote has to be almost facing the machine to operate.

"TEAC LP-R400 CD Recorder", This is an excellent product. It is so easy to use I only needed to read the "Quick Start" manual, and away I went. Almost no settings are really needed. Works intuitively. One thing it cannot do easily is to distinguish between successive record tracks. Most records are not quiet enough in the spaces between the tracks for the sutomatic track making system to work well, but all that means is that the CD recorder treats each side of the record as a single track. Unless you want to spot individual tracks of the record separately then it is not a problem. You can always watch the recording and manually insert the tracks as they happen, but that seems a waste of time this device saves you. Software prodcues a nice digital sound.

Easy to operate. Instructions generally good. Tone arm operating mechanism is flimsy. Sound transfer quality is excellent. Get the replacement stylus. You will need it.

"Great Product - so glad we purchased it!", I purchased this for my husband's 50th birthday. He had many old albums just sitting around but no turntable to play them on or a way to record them on to CD. Since his birthday in April, he's been recording like mad and it's going great. It is easy to use and the sound quality is very good. I gave it 4 stars only because you do have to sit and manually push a button to make tracks on the CD. Supposedly it will do it automatically but in his attempts to do so it has worked sometimes and not others so you end up with 2 songs on a track instead of just 1. Overall though, we are really enjoying it! I had some old 78s that my parents had recorded in college around 1948 or 49 (my mom singing beautifully!) and was able to play and record those to CD. That was a real treasure to find and be able to share with our family since my dad passed away and my mom has alzheimers. This is a great buy!

"Way to have fun and save old records..", This product was sent very quickly to Alaska by Fed Ex..nice!I have boxes of old LPs I wanted to save. This is working just as promoted. Bass sound isn't good but CDs record fine and play better on other machines. It is pretty simple to use. You do have to stay close while recording records,to keep tracking right. It's easy to miss tracks but it is a joy to finally have a decent way to preserve valued old records.
