I loved the first two in this series and couldn't wait for this one to come out. I love it just like the other ones and it's everywhere I go..at work..at home...in the car.
It's the perfect CD for anyone who loves the music from The Return of the King.

"It was worth it!"
Initially thought it was all over when this product was listed as unavailable everywhere..Luckily i straight away jumped at the chance when it was available for a limited time...boy it was all worth it!! It has all the cues i wanted to listen but was not included in the ordinary soundtrack...A great soundtrack box set that i will never let it go! =)

Lord of Rings music is complete and ears of my head are happy. Third in line of three and best of line for sure. Buy if chance presents itself

"Don't let those resellers rip you off!"
I was really surprised when Amazon discontinued to sell real disc package. The problem is that I could not find it anywhere else on the internet and at the local stores. Finally I decided to check if the main distributor - warnerbros has it. Fortunately I was right! They have it at their online store and they have it even on s a l e ! Don't let those resellers rip you off!

"there are two big problems"
i gave the complete recordings for fellowship & two towers five stars without reservation. i am giving this set 3 stars because of two very annoying issues.

first of all, the double-sided dvd is a pain. i'd rather they cut a few songs and leave it at one or up the price a little and add another dvd. if 2 or 3 tracks were removed, this would have fit on one side. also, they split the tracks right down the middle so the sides are equal length, but i'd rather have one side at max length to delay the switching as long as possible. VERY annoying, especially considering some of the mediocre additions.

as for the music, it's mostly an improvement over the original soundtrack just like the other two complete sets... but one of the best songs was ruined because of remixing/additions. i believe the song is called "osgiliath invaded" featuring ben del maestro. (in the movie, it is the part where gandalf rides out of the city and chases away the nazgul with a white beam of light)... this was one of the highlights of the original soundtrack, but here it is "improved" with conspiciously goofy buildup orchestration. i couldn't believe my ears when i first heard it. and then the mixing is all messed up for del maestro's solo. it's so anticlimactic it's shocking. i don't know how the hell it made it onto this otherwise beautiful recording in that state.

perhaps my expectations were too high given the quality of the fellowship & two towers complete recordings... but this should have been the crown jewel of the set. instead, it is diminished in my eyes by these problems.

"I thought it was good in the movie!!!", This set was the most intense set of music I had ever listened to. The range of emotions that swept me while I listened to it was amazing. The crescendos were absolutely stunning. THis music is so rich. It was worth the money. Totally!

"I am a lotr sucker", Brilliant. All I need now is the trilogy on Blu-Ray. This music is the best film soundtrack ever composed. "Absolultely Amazing...", Some absolutely [i]amazing[/i] music. Wish Amazon would get the other complete recordings available on the MP3 Downloads...

Some of my favorite pieces are The Lighting of the Beacons, Osgiliath Invaded, The Siege of Gondor, The Battle of Pellenor Fields, For Frodo, Mount Doom, and The Days of the Ring.

"Lord of the Rings The complete recordings", It's wonderful having the entire musical experience available along with some of the composers ideas about what he was communicating. The only shortfall from my perspective is that there are no words provided for all the lovely songs in elvish etc.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"excellent score", This score is indeed excellent, but wouldn't say as good as the first one which had all the classical tracks that are easy to recognize by miles. The 2nd one didn't really do it for me, there was no magical cues as strong as the first and 3rd score from the trilogy.

"Unbelievable", The perfect item for those who love movie scores and those who love LOTRs. I've been dreaming of this exact set, and I've just bought all 3. The music is gorgeous and in full clarity. The DVD, although annoying due to its double-sidedness, is a great bonus. My only quibble is that it doesn't have a stand-alone track for Annie Lenox's "Into the West" (it's somewhat buried and a bit muted in one of the last tracks). Wonderful and worth the money!!!

"Outstanding", Howard Shore outdid himself with this one. The music is by far the best of the series, and I loved the previous two! The melodies motivate me to take on the world. If you are a fan, you definitely should have this set.

"An immersive, compelling listening experience.", The difference with these complete recordings.. is the sheer weight of material. The theatrical soundtrack is a mere greatest hits by comparison. The impression is that, after everyone has left the concert hall, you've been invited back, to listen to fruits of the exaustive and countless re-envisionings of this music for the film fleshed out in the grandest scope and the fullest form. If you were blown away by the third theatrical soundtrack, as I was, the new material will immerse you back into the rich and compelling power of Shore's music and the world of Middle-Earth. The sensitivity and innovation of Shore's score is that of a master at work. Highlights are the opening 'Roots and Beginnings' which was taken out of the final film, but which i my opinion contributes chillingly and devastatingly to the Sméagol/Déagol scene that opens the film, the tyrannical Mordor theme raging to the surface behind Gollums' cruel murder.

'The Eyes of The White Tower' is another powerfully moving piece which fleshes out the scene around the courtyard of minas tirith and in the confrontation between Gandalf and Denethor.'The Houses of Healing' also works beautifully with the vocal of Liv Tyler.

You may think the sheer amount of music would become wearisome and repetitive, but all throughout Shore weaves subtle and beautiful orchestral colours and themes mixed with the grandeur and mythical heroism that echoes the spirit of Tolkien and that will have you coming back again and again






"SIMPLEMENTE INCREIBLE", Una de las mejores compilaciones de musica para peliculas, esta es la joya que corona todo el trabajo musical de esta trilogia. Mi unica critica seria que el DVD viene grabado en los dos lados de los discos,lo que los hace muy delicados pues es facil que se maltrate cualquiera de las dos caras. todo lo demas es un excelente producto.
