"Flip", The best part about the flip camcorder is it's size.I can carry it in my pocket and capture spontaneous moments with ease. It is a really great design and I am enjoying it's capabilities.

"Never worked", I got this and it never worked. I didn't know it didnt work because i didn't use it for a while after I got it and I had the original flip video that i loved so i didn't think it would be a problem, but it doesn't work. The picture is fine, but the sound doesn't come out and there is just a buzzing sound. I couldn't return it because it was past the return date so i'm stuck with a piece of plastic junk that i paid over $100 for. I'm so mad.

"Flip Fun", I love my new flip!!! I used it right out of the box. Easy to carry right in my purse. I'm so glad I bought it!!

"It blows but it's great.", Let's get one thing out of the way. As an all around video camera the Flip blows. However as a "Video Notebook" this is the greatest thing in the world.

Wallyworld knocked the price down to $75.00 (30 minute model) so I grabbed one. I love it. I absolutely love it! If I see something cool while I'm out I can record it. If I want to make a note to myself I record it. If somebody tells me something I say "Tell the camera. It has a better memory than I do". When the boss wants me to do something I have her tell the camera. When a customer makes a complaint I ask him/her to tell the camera and I'll show the video to the manager. When I am out shopping for something I just make little demo recordings of all the possibilities and go over them at leisure when I get home. If I want to show somebody something I just record it and show them.

The video quality in decent light is good. Quite good enough for temporary notes and great for Youtube and Ebay auction demo videos. Actually if the light it good the video quality is very good. It lacks white balance and color adjustments and macro and telephoto and....but what do you want for $75.00 or even $149.00?

As an all-around camcorder though it's very limited but I have my fancy Sony camcorder for doing the good stuff. The Flip is my carry-around fun pocket recorder. It's the one I can hide in my pocket and pull out quick when I need to record something. It's the one that I could lose or drop and not cry too much about it. It's the one that doesn't look much like a camcorder and hopefully won't attract a thief's attention. It's the one I can trust the kids with.It's the one that Grandma can operate because basically it's just two buttons; Power and Start/Stop Recording. Get one. You want one.

You can get a nice waterproof (and therefore dustproof) case for it at a nice price so that makes the camera even better for carrying around everywhere. IE: A Pocket-sized Video Notebook. Sweet!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"So much fun.", So much fun. I was very pleased with the quality of the video. Software worked fine on my Mac. After saving and turning the file into the Quicktime format - I imported it into iMovie and did an edit. (I had to put it into Quicktime so iMovie could read it.) Love Flip so much I bought one for my husband. Much easier than dragging out the video camera, making sure the batteries were charged. Love that it runs on 2 AA batteries. I watched the David Pogue critique - that's what sold me. See if you can find his review.

"Very easy to use", This is a great little camera to carry around. We keep ours in our diaper bag and it's very handy for quick videos of our baby. It's easy to use and to download onto our computer. It allows us to send videos to my parents to keep them updated on our daughter's growth. Love having this.

"Very cool", for the price you can't beat it. We purchased ours to record some staff presentations for training purposes. so we did longer recordings than what the orginal intention was for the flip and it still worked great.

In a closed room, sound and video quality was great. The flip only works with in 12 ft so it won't replace your regular camcorder, but I would definately want to keep out for recording the cute things my kid does, or for videoing things for insurance purposes. several staff purchased one after seeing ours in action.

The recording time is about 2 hours. and it's so stupid easy to download the video, anyone can do it (plug in the flip into any usb port, and the software automatically starts).

Only complaint is that it takes FOREVER for the videos to download. So i left it running overnight, and came back to perfectly converted to reduce size videos. As an idea, would be nice if it would take an external mic.

We recorded several hours before we needed to replace batteries (2 AA)so it's pretty good use/battery ratio. Almost surprisingly so.

Overall, it's a sound buy.

"AWESOME ITEM!!", What a great invention!! Perfect for taking with you anywhere and catching every great moment - Super item for mom's on the go (and which mom is not?!) Its not professional grade by any means - but captures the moment just as good as my big bulky Sony camcorder...and no tapes to deal with!
I bought two of these - one for me and one for my sister-in-law, that's how cool this item is. HIGHLY recommend!!

"Fun at first, then it failed, and customer support was useless...", I had such high hopes for this camera! I purchased the Flip Video Ultra (60 minutes) right before Christmas 2007. I used it a few times and was extremely happy with it until about February, when suddenly the software stopped working on my Windows XP system. I tried to re-install but got a constant "Installation aborted" error message. Multiple phone calls were unhelpful. More than once the customer support person simply hung up on me. Other times, I was given an email address of a second-tier support level, but many of my emails went unanswered. Occasionally I'd get a reply but it was clear that the support staff were not really understanding (or reading?) what I'd written. Nearly every reply from Tech Support instructed me to install their updated software from the website, but I got the same error message every time and had already tried that option on my own. They seemed to disregard this fact when reading my emails, suggesting the same thing over and over. Every single email I wrote took at least 24 hours to receive a reply, drawing out what might have been a simple issue into a several-day-long nuisance. Communication was so difficult with the support techs that in the end, I gave up and sadly put the Flip Video away for good. If they'd had a phone number I could call for real support (rather than their existing system of people to refer me to an email address), I think things might have gone differently. As it is, I'm unbelievably frustrated after spending more than I should have on what is now completely useless. I'd been planning to purchase two more of these little cameras for my kids for Christmas this year, but there's no way I'd buy another one after this debacle.
