"Can't beat it for the price..." The best way to sum this game up is it's an advanced version of the baseball that comes with Wii sports. There is what's called "Wii Remote" mode where you can play the game using the remotes to swing and pitch. There is also a Wii Remote HR derby where you use the remote to swing. All the major teams are contained in the game, and there are your typical options for "regular" baseball games as well. If you want a more in depth Wii Baseball game that uses the remote, this is the one! It's not MLB The Show or anything on that level, but it's a load of fun.
"Power Pros" My son loves it. There are so many options on it that we have yet to try. Two person mode is a blast! Definitely worth it!
"Excellent Game" I purchased this game as a gift for my 8 year old nephew. After reading several reviews I was still a little hesitant, but he is a huge baseball fan so I decided to go for it. Now all I hear is how much he loves the game, in fact it is his favorite. I would highly recommend buying this game to anyone who loves baseball, and for all ages.
"Incredibly in depth!" First off, I was never really a big baseball fan. I do love sports games on gaming consoles though and figured I'd give this a shot. Wow, am I impressed! The game is so very in depth with all of the stats and season mode plus a pretty cool "college" mode where you try to balance your life, girlfriend, job and practice.
Apparently this is a port of a PS2 game, but the port over to the Wii seems very solid. I only wish there was more use out of the wiimote besides the limited use it has. Awesome game and a great pick up at the price. Could easily be a full price game.
"A great classic with all the modern perks..." MLB Power Pros is a fantastic baseball game. Baseball games often have very serious flaws in gameplay that end up making them no fun to play. Be it camera issues, poor animations, or just a lousy pitching interface... but Power Pros avoids all of that mess and provides a well-playing, clean game of baseball with all of the fun stuff packed in.
The player models may look a bit odd (I like to think of it as an update of the classic RBI Baseball), but the gameplay still works. The player models actually do well to lend to the smooth gameplay. You don't expect too much out of the game because they look cartoonish, but what you get is better than any baseball simulation out there. There is the ability to foul balls off or really drive them based off your decisions with a good deal of accuracy... or you can crash into the wall and make the catch (or drop it as a result) as well as the ability to bull the catcher or just make a great slide. But the real winner for me is pitching. Pitching is a blast in this game. If you know what you're doing, and work the corners, you are rewarded with over the top swing-and-misses that send your opposition spiraling into the ground... and it feels great!
I will say, there are SO MANY out of game options, stats, etc. That's not something I can complain about because there's something for everyone, but the menu system is a little dizzying at times and the names to the menu items are deceiving. Also, in some of the game modes, older players may find the game too childish... but bear through it (by holding a button, you can speed through the nonsense dialogue), because overall the variety is deep and very well-done. Stat freaks, they have it all here - more than you'll know what to do with! And for those of us who like to customize (players or teams), they've packed that in as well - right down to the team logos being customizable.
This game is great!

What our customer's say!
"Great game", This is a fun game. Its a little long if you play the career mode though.
"mlb power pros", i did buy the older version by mistake and that may be the reason i didn't like the game as much. the teams were a year behind, makes it kinda confusing.....this is a great kids game. some friends brought their kids over the other day while they visited and the kids had an absolute blast with it.....it helped that they were all boys, who liked baseball, but they loved it none-the-less.....a simplified version of baseball with cartoonish characters that incredibly resembled their namesakes! it is a cute game and please don't take my score too literally. i was ranking it as how much fun "I" had with it. i am use to the mlb games and this kinda took me by surprise. you can make it as hard as you want by increasing the difficulty but at the end of the day, you are still fooling around with a kids game. for kids or adults who don't understand the complexities of baseball but like playing video games, this game is for you. for baseball fans, stick with EA sports version or something similar.....
"Best baseball game on the market", If you like baseball, you will love this game! Very detailed. Although it is animated and appears to be just a "kids" game, everything from the players abilities to the dimensions of the different stadiums, it is extremely accurate. You will have fun with this game. It's very addictive! :)
"Could do much better for the Wii", This game could have been made much better by integrating the Wii controls into a league/season format. I'm not sure what's the hold up on getting season play with Wii controls. With that said this game is worth the $10-$20 you can buy it for. It's a fun baseball game with many different modes. You can use Wii motion controls to play in one mode, but I would have liked to see them integrate the Wii motion controls into the game more. I hope the next edition does that.
"Luv It!", I'm not a big baseball fan, but this is a fun game. It has dead on accurate controls and plenty of features for everyone. If you own a Wii and like fantasy sports or lots of stats, you need 2 pick up this game!!
You might need this...
Read this reviews before You buy...
"MLB Rocks", This game is alot of fun. It allows the players to choose a ton of options based on difficulty levels, weather conditions, player abilities, and locations. A great way to see your favorite team to win every time you play!!!
"Favorite baseball game yet!", i don't care much for graphics when it comes to video games. i'm all about the gameplay and entertainment, and this game covers both bases (no pun intended. heh.)! great gameplay, great wii remote handling and you can play wii remote physical (ala wii sports) or wii remote classic sit down (old school nintendo). highly enjoyable even if you're playing alone. i've been highly addicted to this game. can say the same for a few other games.
"What a surprise!", Like OneUp stated in their review this was the biggest surprise last fall, baseball wise. Out of all the other baseball simulating games this one surprisingly is much more fun than you'd expect from a sub-par graphics standpoint. The action and versatility is amazing, but as said the graphics are the one drawback. However, major leauge baseball, as of the past years(ie steroid generation)looked "cartoony" anyways, so this game isn't that far detached from the real life game. Power Pros has everything essential added, just as all the other simulators do, but PP's is much more refined to the core of what a 'good' baseball game should have.
You can play as your Mii, be the manager, play seasons, do the "Wii-mote expierience", or play as an up and coming player. A few complaints here, first, season mode is way too short(15 games at most), manager mode is really boring/dumb, and the "up and coming player" part is inanely stupid/pointless. Second, this being a popular Japanese game, Power Pros has a drawback you just have to get use to; the layout and interfaces are a little confusing.
All in all, this is a great game for very cheap, and if you are not stuck on primetime graphics this is the best bargain game there is for baseball fans! Give it a chance and you will see! I was wary of it due to the look, but after playing the game my mind changed after the first inning...
"Best sports game... ever?", I was nervous when I bought this game a few months ago. I couldn't get past the assumptions that the visual style led me to make, and I was too used to games that claimed the amount of options and depth I had read about Power Pros possessing falling short of my expectations because they either bogged you down in menus and options, or playing the actual game would just be dreadful.
After playing this game though... It is amazing. I would honestly be content to never purchase another sports game for the rest of my life as long as I could keep Power Pros.
The visual style is so simple, yet every player is immediately recognizable and complete with his own unique actions in the field and at the plate.
The controls (aside from some awkward base running commands that take a little bit to get used to) are simple enough that you can easily pick them up the first time you play, but there is still enough going on that you feel rewarded for practicing as well.
I was worried that this game, like other "cartoony" baseball games would lack in game options for things like pinch runners, pinch hitters, shifting the outfield and infield etc. But that is not the case at all. This really is the deepest, most customizable, sports game I have ever played.
The bulk of game modes is overwhelming quite honestly. You can set up batting or fielding practice for just about any game situation you can imagine, either by doing batting practice against a particular pitch (type, location, and velocity) that is giving you trouble, or by specifying the power and trajectory of a hit and putting runners on the bases (if you so choose) to work on outfield assists or turning double plays.
The simulation elements are perfect as well, as they provide a wide array of stats, and once again give you options to tweak just about anything on your team. I found the ability to halt a simulated game, enter to bat for one player (or longer if you so choose), and then resume the simulation particularly enticing, as it gives you the ability to "play through a season as a single player". Of course, controlling everything from the top as a GM is another option (and you can choose any combination of playing and simulating the games, as with most sports games), you can create your own team (complete with created players), re-arrange the divisions... pretty much anything you would like to do, there is a way to do it in Power Pros.
If the game had stopped here, I would still give it 5 stars. But there is quite literally a second game worth of content in "success mode". In this mode you start as a first year college player with 3 years to earn a minor league contract. However, you have to strike a balance between several elements of your life along the way. I was afraid that after playing through this mode once or twice it would become akin to beating a dead horse, and just a really long winded way of creating a player. But that is not the case at all. I have played through Success mode in excess of 30 times, and I am STILL finding new story lines. It would be impossible for me to convey how funny parts of the success mode story are, or how addictive it can be (the reason I keep playing is that I want to win back to back championships AND beat the 'secret opponent' you face if you win the championship in your third year. I have come within 1 run of a repeat, but it still eludes me!).
On top of all of this, Power Pros tracks everything you do from the moment you start playing. I find this fascinating just because some of my personal stats are just bizarre... like how much better I do with a left handed batter than a right handed batter, when I myself bat right handed.
The only gripe I have about Power Pros, is the limited minor league system in the dynasty mode. There are plenty of options in the dynasty mode that make up for this (such as getting to specify what individual players practice, the ongoing process of upgrading their skills etc.), but after playing other baseball games over the last couple of years, I have gotten used to having a full minor league system to use for trades and player development.
To sum everything up: Power Pros is enjoyable to every type of video game player and baseball fan. The guy who knows nothing about the sport and has little experience playing baseball video games will catch on just as quickly as the hardcore sports gamer. Unlike most games that fit that description though, Power Pros also contains the options, game modes, and stat tracking abilities that hardcore sports gamers live for.
"MLB Power Pros is worth it!", MLB Power Pros is a simple baseball game that hits all ages. First and foremost, for $20 it is now a bargain. There are so many different modes to play, it is worth the investment. I have played the game with the Wiimote and with a classical controller. The Wiimote is fun but lacks some Wiimote motions that would make the game a lot more fun. I therefore prefer the classic controller. The one drawback is that the rosters are based on the 2007 season so if you were expecting Johan Santana to be on your New York Mets (like I did), you will be dissappointed. You can change it with fantasy drafts or just trade for him but I lived without him.
