"Great call clarity and reception indoors. "
Great buy with a 2 year contract extension (AT&T charges $18).
I would recommend to anyone who wants a good reception and call calarity, and is fedup with dropped calls.

This phone has a great reception indoors. If you go near a window on the second floor you can hear loud and clear. Easily get 3-4 bars.
The keys are a bit hard to press, but that does not bother me. Both my wife and i love this phone.
It is a million times better than LG phone we had.
I just wish there was a way to change the 3G tune that comes on when you turn on the phone. But we got around it and turned the volume way down on the tune. One great feature is that there are separated settings for volume for both ring tones and in coming calls. This way you can set it the way you like.

"Good looking phone-nice reception"
After running my Motorola V-557 thru the wash, I was forced to get a new one, and, unfortunately, locked into another 2 year contract. I have been with AT&T for 15 years, and not planning on changing. As far as the phone goes, it is nice looking, but as noted by other reviewers, shows fingerprints and smudges. I have mine in a Body Glove brand case, which I think gives the best fit and protection. The reception is great! My old phones signal was weak, and at times non-existant out in the country where we live. The Razr2 has a decent signal at all times. Battery life as compared to my 557 is bad, but I knew that after reading other reviews. I simply have to charge it more often, which is no big deal. The flat buttons take getting used to, and if you text much, you will get used to them. Having 5 kids who want to communicate via text, I was forced to learn how. My phone gets raves from all my kids 18-23 yrs. Two have older razrs and want to upgrade. My wife loved mine, and now she has one too. Phone is heavy and appears to be quite sturdy, and that is important to me. Far better constructed than many of the free phones you can get. HIGHLY recommend using Amazon to buy your phone from. They beat the pants off AT&T prices at their stores. I tried to get AT&T to match the prices, and was met with a resounding NO. Apparently they are happy with locking me into another 2 year contract and could care less where I buy the phone. I believe you will be happy with this phone, and suggest you go to an AT&T store to check out the phone first, then make an informed buy from whom-ever you choose. Picture ID is a nice feature and highly recommend getting the SanDisc memory chip for extra pics and music. Again, you will get the best prices on Amazon for almost all accesseries, all with NO bidding on items! Nice! Note to AT&T---you should consider rewarding long-time customers who upgrade with shorter than 2 year contracts and how about INCLUDING a car charger with the phone! As far as the camera goes, I think the pics are great. Really does well on close-ups.

"Exceeds expectations"
There are a lot of reviews of this phone, so I'll just cover the things I found exceptional or contrary to others experience.

This phone exceeded my expectations. Call clarity is by far the best of any cell phone I have had. The first three people I called mentioned how good it sounded - without any prompting by me.

Color - to be honest I was expecting a pink phone based on the pictures at Amazon. It is really a very nice dark maroon color that looks very nice.

The phone is heavier than other phones and a bit bigger. But the phone is metal - not plastic so of course it is heavier. It is also a bit larger than other phones, but I like that as well. It feels more like a phone than a toy.

Hinge - I cannot imagine this hinge failing. It is a metal hinge which seems very solid.

As others have mentioned, the charging port it a bit of nusiance. I can image the cover eventually breaking.

It is a fingerprint magnet.

The battery cover is a bear to get off. I almost took it to the store to get my micro sd card installed.

With the micro SD card installed, I can now stop carrying my MP3 player around.

Now ATT versus Verizon. I've been a Verizon customer for years. I never switched even though I couldn't use my phone at home. It seemed to work ok everywhere else. I have a second residence for work and the Verizon phone worked there - until I moved up the street a mile or so - then it was nothing but useless. I also was dropping a lot of calls on the highway. Almost every time I switched towers.

I took a shot on a carrier switch. I'm glad I did. My phone is now useable at both of my residences and I have yet to drop a call in a month of use. I definately have "more bars in more places" with ATT. Sometimes I have to walk around a bit to get a stronger signal, but once the call connects, it really seems to lock on.

On the down side, ATT charges you to back up your contacts and that was free with Verizon. ATT also seems to charge a bit more for things than Verizon did.

In conclusion, I'm extremely happy with this purchase and carrier.

"WOWSER - this is a gem"
I came from a phone that was just a phone - no bells and whistles. THEN, I got this phone as a result of the great price at Amazon.

I haven't been as impressed with a piece of technology since my first Apple IIe. It is a marvel: the camera is fun to use, we now instant message (2 old married folks acting like kids (like), send email, surf the web on our phone (who woulda thought) and generally call and receive calls with a clarity that rivals or exceeds our land line.

I couldn't be happier with this product.

A few comments on the previous reviews:

1. Have not seen battery use as a problem but I do not spend 24 hours each day with the phone in my ear or texting incessantly.

2. I have no complaints about the hinge on the cover. But, if you flip your phone open with flair and a flick of your wrist each time and expect it to last over time, it could break. Just treat it with respect and it will last.

3. Sound quality is excellent. Each call I make, someone comments on the clarity.

4. Camera is very good - day or night. I have taken pictures of my black dog in twilight and my wife is using that as her wallpaper. Very cool, very good detail. It has multiple settings so I believe someone's problem with green pictures is due to their being on the "green picture" setting. Don't know why anyone wants their subjects to all appear as Kermit the Frog, but that is another story.

5. Battery cover hasn't fallen off.

6. No problem with the micro SD card behind the battery. I suppose if you use 2 GB of storage each day it would be a pain. If you do that, maybe you should consider buying a small digital camera for your shirt pocket or purse.

7. Plenty of aftermarket products available at very reasonable prices either on Amazon or by searching for "Razr V9" in your favorite search engine. Just be careful about the V9 and V9M differences. Some products that work for the V9M don't work with the V9.

8. Had some delivery issues between AT&T and Amazon. I must say that they were 80% AT&T and 20% Amazon. But, all ended well when the phones were received.

Just love it, really, really do.

"Nice phone and great AT&T service"
I have had the phone for 5 months. It's really a solid built metal phone. It is slightly heavier than the average phone and just feels like you got your moneys worth unlike some of these plastic junk phones. I only use the phone for talking (no internet or games) so I can not comment on that aspect of it. The sound quality is top notch. The camera is ok for a phone but do not expect to take nice printable photos and there is no flash. Get a real camera for that. MP3 playback is surprisingly clear and loud! Not bad for a phone. It supports Micro SD cards. The phone is slimmer than the original RAZR and it fits in my jean pockets perfect. This is my favorite phone so far and its cool looking. Some people wine about the physical hinge point but I don't understand it. The phone is built well and unless you use it to hammer nails it should easily last for the 2 yr contract.

Cons:
-It shows finger prints easily everywhere.
-It has a Micro USB (not Mini USB) so it will not use a standard USB cable unless you use the included adapter.
-The charging port has a annoying cover on it. You have to remove it everytime you want to charge or link to a PC.

I had one problem with the phone. The receiver ear speaker somehow failed after 5 months. From what I have read this is not common at all. I called AT&T and they sent me a new phone under warranty within 3 days. I sent my old phone back after I got the new one. GREAT service so far and AT&T really went the extra mile to keep me happy!

What our customer's say!

"RAZR2 V9 ", Excellent phone, only issue, battery doesn't seem to have talk time that Motorola says it does.

"Very Nice Phone.", I've had this phone about 3 weeks now and am very happy with it. The sound and signal quality are both excellent, no dropped calls or unintelligible voices. Battery life is very good, usually only have to charge it up once a week with moderate use. In short, for $18(AT&T contract extension)this is a very good deal.

"Good deal!!", Replacement for older Razr that fell in water and finally
after six months stopped working. It has taken a while to get used
to using because of new features and updating. Good phone. Is a
little bigger and weighs a little more. Still like it.

"big flimsy fingerprint magnet", good: big screen
bad: flimsy (feels like slides both vertical and horizontal :), fingerprint magnet as non other phones, toons of ATT bloatware.

"Nice phone, lousy ATT service, Amazon bad advice", I purchased this phone after discussing with ATT (my current service provider) about how to best roll my old cell number over to this new phone. Additionally, I followed the instructions posted above from the link provided by Amazon on how to keep my old number. This information provided by Amazon is incorrect. You would think that rolling my old number from my three year old ATT service (contract obligations long since completed) over to the new Razr V9 with service by ATT would be easy.

Not!! In fact I can't do it. ATT customer service, both the business account center and the regular service account folks, has been polite but unhelpful. They told me my only option is to pay a $175 cancellation fee on the new V9 from Amazon, return it to Amazon, and start up a new service under my old account which was left active, per the instructions provided by Amazon and ATT. And of course, they'll sell me the V9 for $169.

If you want to keep your old number, don't use ATT. Customer support at ATT has been sorely lacking.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Terrible customer service at Amazon", I bought the full family plan and this phone ("in stock and ready to ship") and after repeated emails to Amazon got a rep to call me back, 15 minutes on hold (the regular don't call us, we'll call you Amazon way of doing business), and I was informed 10 days later that the phone was not in stock, and that it may take another month or 6 weeks to get it. I could not switch to another phone either, as changing the order is not something Amazon can do. No other option but cancel everything and go somewhere else. Weeks lost...

"Greatly enhance razr", I have been using the original razr since its first release and it was still proving to be a dependable phone. Decided to finally upgrade and went with the razr2. Not disappointed at all. I do not use the phone to surf the net. Surfing the net on a 2 inch screen is not my idea of fun. The few times I have surfed the net the 3g did live up to the hype.
I text very little as well. I just want a phone with a decent camera that can keep up with appointments. This does all that very well.
The camera is much nicer than the razr. High quality pics considering it is from a phone after all.
Popped in a 2gb micro sd and loaded some songs. The built in music player is easy to use.
It does come with an adapter that allows you to use your razr car charger and wall charger for the razr2.
The $30+ software motorola sells to sync the phones contacts and edit pics and music and appointments can be purchased on ebay or $5. Yes is works just fine.
It feels solid in your hand too.
I like the vibrating side buttons letting you know you actually did push the button.

"Poorly constructed piece of junk", Features on the phone work ok, though i can't use half of them, as I wasn't informed that it is not Mac compatable. The hinge broke after 6 months and neither AT&T nor Motorola will cover it siting that it's "physical damage" I did not drop or mistreat the phone, it was just very cheaply made. It doesn't matter how many features it has if it breaks after 6 months. (At&T would not insure it. wonder why? ) I will never buy another Motorola phone and may change my AT&T carrier.

"AWESOME FLIP PHONE", I have been useing this phone for over a month and I can say it's the best phone I have ever had.great pic's from the camera.battery is great.can get up to 3 day's on a charge, just a perfect phone for me

"Great Phone", Great phone! I loved my old RAZR but this one has so much more to offer. I have more signal strength than before. Was easy to use my music for ringtones. Battery life seems fine. I love the integration with my GPS. Cons: None
