"Go Go Away"
This is the third (and presumably) the final installment to a film that has swept the world and a character that has left the industry green with envy. The film begins when the ill-fated Frog King meets his demise and Shrek and Fiona are forced to take the helm and run the kingdom of Far Far Away. Prince Charming sees an opportunity to seize the thrown which was rightfully his but realizes, he alone, won't be able to overthrow the great green ogre....so he recruits the forgotten characters from the fairy tales....though the prince is met with strong resistance. While Prince Charming is trying to find recruits to join his less than noble cause, Shrek discovers that there is a lost heir to the kingdom and embarks on a mission to capture...errr...bring awareness to the young Prince Arthur.

Upon reaching Worcestershire Academy, Shrek and his friends behold a great knight atop a steed and presume this to be Arthur.....stepping on the lowly squire in the process. Fun ensues when Shrek discovers the knight is, in fact, Lancelot and the lowly squire is Artie. While Shrek chases down this future king, Charming is swept away to Far Far Away to capture its inhabitants and claim the thrown for himself.

Shrek catches Artie during a school assembly and boards his vessel back home....not so fast....the ship crashes and we meet the most entertaining character of the film - Merlin. The elderly Merlin is leaning toward the senile side of life and uses what's left of his magic to send Shrek, Cat, Donkey, and Artie back to the kingdom of Far Far Away....with minor side effects. Upon their return Prince Charming captures the gang and Shrek uses his ogre charm to convince Charming to release Artie.....this sets the stage for the women of Far Far Away to save the day.

The characters we all love from the first two films are present....except for Fairy Godmother - for obvious reasons. However, unlike the previous films Shrek the Third doesn't quite have the charm that made this such a wonderful series and they failed to develop the new characters....resulting in a three star rating.

"good movie"
I love animated movies, I like this one, but not as much as I liked the first and the second movies from Shrek.

"Shrek the third"
Shrek the third: This movie on its own is very good but I prefer the first 2 Shrek movies.

"Stick with the first"
Nothing like the first Shrek. Boring and lame made fall sleep while I was watching. I'm someone who laughs in all movies, but Shrek third was incapable of steal a laugh from me. If you don't want to get disappointed, stick with the first, because neither the second or the third is worth your time.

"Relatively pathetic"
Well, one star might be harsh, but I feel it's appropriate given the comparison to its 2 predecessors. Both Shrek and Shrek 2 were outstanding movies, and I had similar expectations for this one. But wow, what a dropoff. It felt like someone kidnapped the original writers and brought in some bad amateurs. This movie is a cheap ripoff of the first 2, with rehashed jokes and gags and a pathetically weak story. My kids didn't think it was so bad, but I felt taken advantage of when it was over. Not worth buying and not worth renting, either.

What our customer's say!

"Just keeps gets worse.", Just like most movies series they can not keep the plot or story going. If each release to this series it just keeps getting worse. Shrek one is excellent and a classic, Sherk two is so so and Sherk three leave it at the store or rent it.

"I Rather Stick With The First Two", The Third Installment in The Shrek Franchise is Easily The Weakest of Them All. The Animation Might Be Better, But The Same Can't Be Said For The Story or The New Charecters. Though, I Do Have To Admit I Thought Puss and Donkey Switching Bodies Was Pretty Clever. But Other Than That, The Film Needed To Be Better.

The Special Features Include a Not So Great Worcestershine Academy Yearbook, Some Crazy Animation Goofs, Some Wierd Deleted Scenes, A Funny Dance Called The Donkey Dance by Donkey, A Cool Meet The Cast (Both The Old and New) Feature, A Funny Shrek's Guide To Parenthood (Which Diffrent Charecters Give Shrek Info on Parenthoo), an Interesting Tech of Shrek Feature, a Great Dreamworks Animation Jukebox (a Look at The Musical Moments in Over The Hedge, Shark Tale, Madagascar and More), and Great Previews for Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda, Spiderwick Cronicles, Shrek 1 and 2, and Cholotte's Web.

Overall Ratings:
Movie-3/5
DVD-4/5

"The weakest by far, but that just means the series good.", Some problems like Justin Tiberlakes character, the Princess characters, and the ending are lame but the fairy tale creatures provide plenty of laughs. And look out for two Pythons.

"Shrek Third", I just watched this movie today again for possibly the tenth time. Yes, I know, I got it for my grandchildren, but hey, it's a very interesting movie. Every time I see it I find something else that I missed the previous time. It's filled with loveable fanatasy characters, interesting problems, and humor. Okay, so you're an adult. So what? Just don't miss any of the Shrek movies. It will get your mind off the economy, right? All the Shrek movies are great. Note to self: (Research Dreamworks films to see what else is out there.)

"Shrek sadly jumps a shark tank ... "Loooooook Ooooout!!!"",
This is where they officially 'jumped the shark' with his production. I remember Mike Myers having to go on tour to promote this film and not only did he seem to cringe trying to explain it or talk about, he very clearly seemed depressed about it.

Like so many others have said, the allure of the original film has long since vanished and leaves this current offering from Dreamworks as probably the worst movie they've ever made.

Recently, I realized how much my son loved the original Shrek movie when he kept bringing me the DVD case in the afternoon and pointing at the TV wanting to watch it. He laughed during the silly parts, clapped during and after the fight scenes and danced during all the songs. Twenty minutes into the third installment, he turned away, left the room and wanted nothing to do with it. I turned it off and he went back to coloring. About an hour later, out of curiosity, I put the original Shrek back in the DVD and he was stuck to it - once more - clapping, laughing and dancing until the very end where he danced to the 'Swamp Party Karaoke' scene.

I guess the message is this: Shrek isn't a played out concept at all. Shrek is very endearing and a lovable character. He always will be. I actually like Donkey the best. But the people in charge of this project forgot who this film was supposed to be targeted at and thus have been left with a real stinker.

The sad thing is that we will probably see Shrek 4 sometime soon, and they'll be trying to hammer home more of this adult-driven nonsense.

"The spark is gone", I loved the first two films. I was hoping this would be great as well.

And it tries, it really did try. To its credit, there were several very clever scenes. The typical Snow White's gift with animals takes an awesome turn, and I can guarantee that you will never laugh harder at a death scene than the one of this movie. The animation? Top-notch.

I just guess effort doesn't always beat out sheer inspiration. A film with a few moments does not win against a good, simple movie.

The desire to produce a film merely ended up as a plot device to get Shrek and Fiona back to their beloved swamp. A long, boring plot device. With the passing of King Harold, Shrek and Fiona are heirs to the throne of Far, Far Away. Unfortunately, that does not interest them, so Shrek goes on a journey to bring back the next guy, a young Arthur "Artie" Pendragon. Heck, why not? Everyone loves a good Camelot infusion, and Artie is as flawed and as likable as you could want. Unfortunately, he is only one character in a cheesy madhouse of minor characters and cameos. In the effort to get everyone their screen time, that whole plot gets lost in the background.

Which normally wouldn't be a problem. After all, the original movie did not have the most complex of plots. What it had was a few incredible characters. The second movie added a few more, but still kept it delightfully manageable. This time, it seemed that the powers that be assumed we already knew everything about Shrek, Donkey, Puss, and the rest of the bunch that we really didn't need to see them. Hey, let's bring in one more characters for the audience, but refuse to give them time to get to know them! Poor, pathetic lack of character development.

So back to the plot. The few times that came around, it was pretty much a tacky, forced attempt to create some pseudo father/son relationship between Shrek and Artie. Good intentions, but no cigar. Maybe if we had more time... But we don't, so let's just wrap it up with a few corny lines about understanding and rising to the occasion. Yeah, we got that the first time around, and without any of the verbal commentary.

On top of that, this film misses that inexplicable spark of the first two installments. I'm sorry, but I just didn't feel it. Just as a lukewarm attempt of continuing the series and aiming at a five-year old audience.

Sorry. Not my favorite of the series by any means, leaving me to wonder how a sequel to films of such genius as "Shrek" and "Shrek 2" could make something so average?

"Better Check your eyes- Steve Stew!", I dont know what kind of critic Steve is, but this movie was bad. I saw this when it came out because the second Shrek was hilarious. Me and my friend saw it during the day and we both fell asleep 3 times! It was like they put this together just to have a third movie. This movie was no where near as funny as the 2nd Shrek, In other words-"Don't believe the hype", trust me.

"Wow this one sucked, total money machine stuff, Please no 4!!", Wow I was surprised at how fast this series went down hill, clearly they should have ended it at 3 because most franchises just go WAY down hill after that and this one looks to do the same if they do come out with the money grab #4. The story is so uninspiring and weak I had a hard time even watching the whole movie, the cliche busting jokes and the overall creativity of the series are just not there anymore or just not that funny. I mean come on just end it with a bang, not this wimper leading to another ogre swamp of a fourth. Shrek is only for 14 and below screamers now, unfortunately it'll still make money from kids keeping the drivel like #3 alive.

I always have such a hard time with these movies and their populist feel good family loving slant being "acted" by people who are just the opposite making millions for 45 minutes of work and are not that good at it. Time to dump this franchise and see Ratatouille or Wall-E or Dark Knight or any other of the way too many films coming out. Glad this was just a Netflix movie so there was almost no cost to see it.

"The worst Dreamworks animated movie", Dreamworks is not a company known by its great plots in 3D animation, but this time they forgot something that Pixar has as the first important thing in a movie: a great plot.

The story is unsustainable, the main character becomes lost in his own characteristics, the situations has no justification and becomes a bunch of scenes without continuity and nonsense.

The princess are capable to destroy stone walls with his head, but are not capable to defeat the castle guards (just as an example).

Avoid purchasing this movie in any format available, this not worth the money you can spend on it, is not good even for rent. Only watch it if someone lend it to you and also you want to throw away your precious time.

"Great", On time delivery with the lowest price for a brand new DVD and on top of that I got a limited edition gift package which I didn't even expected - that was very nice and made me very happy!
