"Some odd bugs in an otherwise great game"
The game play and graphics are terrific. Camera control is clunky and frustrating at times. There are some odd bugs--one character has disappeared. The travel screen, not the game's best feature anyway, reached a point where it would not let me travel to the right locations to complete quests. As a result, I've had to abandon a level 12 or so character to start over again. Documentation is thin and there don't seem to be walkthroughs available--at least I can't find them. Cut sequences are longer than they need to be and way too frequent. Wish it were possible to import characters from NWN to use in the game. The shifts in alignment good/evil, lawful/chaotic don't make much sense.

New spells are fun as are new weapons. Play is challenging. Graphics are well done. Soundtrack is interesting.

"Old game, new to MAC"
Having been a lifelong PC user, I just bought my first IMac. The games are severely lacking in MAC world without buying a copy of Windows to run PC games. This game is pretty fun but in terms of groundbreaking graphics/sounds/gameplay it's not there. Of course it is over several years old in the PC world. I would recommend it if you played NVN 1 and want to continue. Otherwise run Windows and get one of the more awesome newere games.

"A worthy successor"
Neverwinter Nights 2 met my expectations, and in fact exceeded them.

First, the technical:

I was a bit worried about the Mac version, given the reported technical issues when the PC version first came out, but the game performed very well. I kept expecting a problem, I did not experience a single crash or major flaw in the whole game. Not once. It performed better for me than NWN 1's latest version.

My machine is a 2.8G dual core Intel, 2G memory, 24 inch iMac, running Mac OS 10.4.11. The game never even slowed down, even with multiple characters in large battles, with all kinds of spell effects going simultaneously. Very impressive.

The game itself:

The graphics were beautiful. I didn't buy it for that reason, but I have to admit the graphic sure are pretty, and since they didn't slow down my machine, they certainly added to the atmosphere.

The camera controls took some getting used to, and in fact I had to set the sliders for scroll-speed, ect, to slow. However, once I got used to them, I no longer had to really think about it.

I found the story quite engaging. I have played NWN 1 with both of it's sequels (SoU and HotU), and I found this on par with those in terms of story-telling experience. There's plenty of interaction with your party NPCs, and new 'influence' system.

From a D&D standpoint they've made a few small changes, added a few classes, and fixed a few balance issues with Rangers (which many people had thought were underpowered previously).

Overall, I give it 5 stars.

"The Downward Spiral Mach II"
Okay. I had a review in here from when this game was fresh to my fingers and mind; I had only been playing 8 hours or so. This is my review of the SOLVED product:
The set pieces have got to go. I don't know if those are an author's conceit or what, but they really muck up play. They are dishonest, and unfaithful to the spirit of the original game. They get in the way of strategy.
The keep is AWESOME. Man, this is the coolest addition to the line that there has been. I think this was a possibility in BGII but I never got there. Man, this is a great feature.
The interface has got a bad bug. I'm not a computer person, so I might be misnaming this thing, but oh man, whatever it is that SPINS THE SCREEN AROUND UNSTOPPABLY has got to be fixed. I think it happens when you go to a set piece when the cursor is off screen. This will be taken care of when the SET PIECES ARE NO MORE.
So much awesome stuff here. And so much crap. It makes me wish the old TSR wasn't held captive by the video-gaming industry... who is going to lay down the law for these games? They probably feel lucky that someone is paying a license fee. But what does the license mean? It looks like, by this game, that programmers get to decide how to interpret the license, and that sucks. D&D is a great system, made less great by idiot savant programmers pretending to operate under the license. This is my real review.

"Great Game; a few bugs"
I'm running NWN2 on a new 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo iMac with a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO video card and 4GB of system memory. My machine should be more than adequate to run this game.

The graphics are gorgeous, and the use of D&D 3.5 rules is spot on. The game runs pretty well. I'm about halfway through with no crashes. My only nitpicks are that the video, every once and awhile, flakes out and the fills/textures flash neon intermittently. Also, on certain occasions (like a confrontation in Gith base) the character/bad guy interactions begin before they should be triggered (which forces you to skip to the next part and miss picking up loot). My biggest issue is that the camera/view angle, whether in top-down mode or over-the-character's-shoulder mode, isn't very smooth and if you get too near a structure, you can't see your character until you move away from that structure. In this regard, the game is much less player-friendly than the original NWN.

The story isn't as tight as it could be... there are some missing logic gaps in the plot line. But even with all those issues, this is still the best RPG on the market for Macs right now and well worth the money.

"How did this game make it past beta? ", A horrid interface will have you frustrated to no end. I've had this game for 2 weeks and have reached a conclusion that it is unplayable with the player feedback interface. If you enjoyed the early Bioware games (Baldur's Gate, etc.), this game is not a successor but an unfulfilled and unfinished exploitation of a great series.

The 3d universe attempted in the game sounds great except it does nothing to enhance the game and is terribly realized. The camera controls are awful and is not a good match for a game with multiple simultaneous characters. Forget about the strategy and tactics with multiple characters found in earlier Environmental obstructions from walls and dizzying multiple viewpoints make this game a long, frustrating and stupid experience.

Demand a better experience for your money and buy a better game.

"Don't waste your money.", I bought this along with my first iMac, and I truly regret doing so. The graphics are bland, you'll spend a quarter of your time fighting with the camera, and the first part of the story is gut-wrenchingly stereotypical:

1. You play the orphan step-son/daughter of a reasonably important NPC living in a sleepy little village.
2. Your village is attacked by an evil wizard and his forces looking for some powerful item.
3. You become embroiled in events of world-shattering importance (or so I assume).

I finally gave up after one of your NPC companions is killed and you can't resurrect her, even though there's a freakin' cleric just on the other side of town. My stuck-up LG fighter companion and the mage to whom the dead character was apprenticed were both like "Forget about her! Go save the village!" and here I the player am thinking, "Screw the village! I'm Chaotic Neutral - helping my friend rather than the village is completely in character!"

"Bob F.", NeverWinter Nights 2 (Macintosh) ought to be a great game. It has all the elements--great graphics, an interesting story line, characters that actually change their alignments and personalities as the game progresses, fun challenges to overcome, etc. When it works, I love playing NWN2; unfortunately, it has so many computer glitches that--at times--I want to throw the darned disc away! For example, it has a MAJOR glitch concerning non-player characters (NPCs) that unexpectedly disappear from the game. Their player slot is replaced by an icon that looks like a shadow person walking into a cobwebbed cavern (I suppose "never to be heard from again"?). Once the icon appears in the character's slot you cannot access that character from that point forward.

This makes for a frustrating game because NPCs are essential to the unfolding of the story. The game is set up for you to complete "quests;" but if a character is missing that is integral to the completion of the quest, you are figuratively up the creek without a paddle! The only way around this dilemma is to go back to the last saved point in the game where the character exists and begin again from there. However, you must learn WHAT you did to create the glitch! Rather than spending hours blindly trying to figure out how to overcome the computer glitch, I suggest that you should sign on to the NWN2 quorum on the internet. There you can find all of the answers to the "known" problems.

Well, that's about it. In summary, it's a great game when it works but beware the unforeseen obstacles!

"Terribly Outdated Engine and Impossible Controls Ruin the Game", If you're a Mac user looking for a good D&D style game there's not a lot of choices. Don't let that get you to buy this game... it's still not worth it. Sign up for Warcraft instead, after playing Warcraft on the Mac or Oblivion on PS3 you won't be able to stand the outdated graphics engine and user interface, and the buggy camera control for even a short period. This game does give you more turn by turn control than Warcraft does if you enjoy spending 5 minutes controlling 5 seconds of game time play. But if you want to pick up a game and immerse yourself in on D&D style world this IS NOT the game for it, the clunky UI and controls will be constant reminders of the real world and endlessly frustrating. Buy a used copy of Oblivion if you own a PS3, or pay more for a far better game on the Mac and go with Warcraft.

"Best mac intel game", This is the best game for the intel mac since Age of Empire III and lasts longer.
