"Surfs's Up"
Surf's up was one of the better CGI movies I have seen in a while that had childish humor that was still fun for adults. Great voice performances by Shia LaBeouf, Zooey Deschanel, Jon Heder, Jeff Bridges and an interesting "mockumentary" style comedy that makes it unique. A perfect movie for surfer fans because it does include some voices of the best in the industry: Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, and Sal Masekela as the SPEN Announcer. As far as Picture Quality it couldn't be better with its Direct Digital Encode but does contain a lot of intentional grain when emphasizing the "mockumentary" interviews or flash backs. Overall I would say this is a fun movie, with a great soundtrack that the kids will love and the adults will enjoy; if you are a fan of CGI's this will definitely be a great addition to your collection.

"Barry White LIVES!"
This is just too funny for all us oldies who remember the 60's surfers, 70's Motown and adorable penguins that, somehow make us smile as easily as giggling babies do. What WOULD the world be without Hank Azaria? I apologize for not having done this earlier. Thought I had. Thanks for the wonderfully fast delivery and excellent condition of this dvd. COWABUNGA!

"Like Lots and Lots of Penguins"
This was a funny movie but I liked Lots and Lots of Penguins better. It's got funny seqences of real penguins, some animation and facts and trivia about all 17 species of Penguins! It's a blast and my kids love it!

"Great Movie!"
You hear it over and over: too many penguin movies. But this one is great, for both kids and adults. See it!

What our customer's say!

"Determination!", Approximately 1 hr 20 minutes, this DVD is a nice story, has great color, super clear pix, great animation, and nice music. This is a story about determination, motivation, the importance of friendship, standing up against the odds and going all-out after your dream. It's a great story for kids. I occasionally like to nourish my own inner child and also to see what movies are teaching our children (even though my child is 35.) This is a penguin story and is a take-off of the "Happy Feet" character types.

When Cody Maverick was just a little pengie, he met "Big Z," the all-time best of the penguin surfers, the really big Kahouna. Big Z took the time to speak to little Cody and to give him a Big Z surfer pendant and told Cody about the importance of not giving up and going after your dreams. Little Cody was very impressionable and Big Z's words and gesture so motivated Cody that they stuck with him all his life. Cody grows up determined to be just like Big Z, even after Big Z disappears in a big wave.

Now, Cody is a 17-year old teenage penguin super-surfer dude. He lives with mom and older brother. Dad was eaten by a whale some years ago, as is fairly common with penguin dads. The older brother is very negative but Cody does not let the sarcasm deter him. Through sheer determination, Cody sets out to win the big surfer contest at the Big Z Memorial Surfing Event.

This story also helps illustrate how important a gesture it is when a celebrity does something positive for someone. Because a celeb is already so much in the public's eye, a kind act can go very far in encouraging others. Celebs are role models for many kids. I'm glad to see it when they are positive role models. And by the way, it's really cool how they make these animated pengies appear so "human".

Nice movie and suitable for all ages.

"Satisfied", This is my favorite movie. I never get tired of watching it. The movie arrived on time and works great. I would make another purchase from this seller.

"Hilarious", Absolutely hilarious! I'm not normally a big Shia LaBeouf fan but his voice and personality are perfect for the role. The documentary style of the film was genius. Even the soundtrack was good, especially "Stand Tall" by Dirty Heads.

"Surfs Up is fun & entertaining show which looks awesome on Blu-Ray!", This show looks awesome on Blu-Ray! I liked it much more than I thought I would. I would recommend the show to anyone.

"Hilarious!", I love this movie. It reeks of humor and wittiness. I did not know Shia was in it until I saw it. He did an excellent job. I was laughing non stop the whole time!

"For All Big Lebowski Fans", Never heard of this film and never wanted to watch it until somebody very cool whom I trusted said I had to. Imagine my surprise when I hear Jeff Bridge's foghorn voice moaning over the soundtrack. What a bit of inspired casting - he reprises The Dude role in The Big Lebowski. The improv style of the lines, the camerawork, and The Dude set this apart from all other animated films of recent vintage. The scene with The Dude - I mean, Big Z the Surfer Penguin - teaching Shia LeBoeuf's little angry boy penguin how to make a surfboard has got to be one of the best buddy film scene sequences of all time. Simply re-enacting the lines from the scene - and I'm a very bad actor - had my initially cynical friends in stitches. "Feeel the board...fiinnnd the board...the board is in the wood, just fiiind it, looong slooow strokes..." Not to mention how every time he surfs a tube, Big Z turns around and prays to it. It's so Zen and so The Dude, you will just die laughing.

"superior penguin flick", My husband and I were in Blockbuster one Friday night, and they had a preview for a penguin movie. The water was mesmerizing, the image so beautiful, I could hardly wait to watch it with the kids.

When we saw Happy Feet, I was excited to finally see that beautiful penguin movie. Or so I thought. What I saw instead was a bunch of penguins singing Prince songs, among other things. Warner brothers was showing off its music catalog with Happy Feet, but I don't know what they were doing as far as movies go. That was a jumbled mess with Robin Williams playing like 5 characters and a bunch of loopy tap dancing numbers. Savion Glover looks like a street person in the scary special features section too. That loopy Prince song playing in the credits messed me up man. I kept shaking my head to erase that bad trip.

Based on an ancient cartoon about an opera singing papa owl with an `Owl' Jolson son, Happy Feet is a fish out of water story. Sort of. Then there's a weird plot line about finding the aliens who polluted the water and got rid of the fish, and then the deal about the penguins can communicate by tap dancing, and how that even catches man's attention. And they all get fish! I think. Because by that point I was gone. Couldn't. take. it. any. longer!

I was still shuddering weeks later when Surf's Up appeared in the mail. I saw the beautiful water, but I was still muttering "I can't believe!" under my breath. I mean, Happy Feet! It looked so promising!

Then the movie started. It was like a documentary. I laughed, and continued laughing for the whole movie. It hit me about half-way through that this was the movie with the beautiful water we'd seen previewed at Blockbuster.

Surf's Up was just so funny. And cute. And what a great story. I don't want to give any more away. Buy it, immediately! Then tell me how right I am.

The kids didn't know how bad Happy Feet was until they saw Surf's Up. Their brows furrowed as the wave of realization hit them. All penguin movies are not alike!

They couldn't discern as much when the comparison was between Finding Nemo and Shark's Tale. They had actually prefered the ghetto alternative mess to the timeless classic. They're all too young to catch the nuances of difference between Bug's Life and Antz and Ant Bully.

But Surf's Up and Happy Feet? Even the 3 year old knows.

"Surf's Up Dude!", A great CGI film that delivers entertainment and recieves positive reviews. A great film for the whole family.

"good movie bad video game", when the PS3 game costs less then the blu-ray movie you know the game sucks, well i assure you that it does.

"Fun Family Film", I actually took my mom to this movie when it came out because she loves penguins. I knew right away it would be added to y collection the day it came out. This movie is great. It's a fun, contemporary story with memorable characters (Chicken Joe is a family favorite). The only thing that would be better is a sequel, though I'm not sure there's a story there. A must have for families with small children who like funny characters.
