"Fast but limited"
Nice to have a palm pilot with a bigger screen. My eyes are getting weaker and it really helps. Very fast processor. The bluetooth is a bit limited. I can hot sync without cables pretty quick. However, could not get my nice Motorola bluetooth headphones to pair with the TX. Some things just won't pair.

THe Blazer browser is pretty weak. Cannot get any you tube videos. Can't get much videos at all. Pretty much do not use it at all as a web browser. Also, had to know the encryption on routers I wanted to wifi to. My Itouch just knew. My Itouch has a much stronger browser with crystal clear picture.

I was really tempted to just use my Itouch instead of the TX. Memo is much better than Itouch "notes". Also, the TX has spread sheets and can use a key board. Have not found that for the Itouch.

In general, it is pretty much a business organization machine but falls short as an entertainment/business device.

"Great product...Not so great support."
The product itself is a great product. I have had none of the problems many of the other reviewers have experienced, except the issues with support. Palm customer "support" leaves much to be desired and my 1 MAJOR PROBLEM is that there is no upgrade for the Palm products software for the 64-bit edition of Window's Vista. So, I basically have a $300 paper weight. But, for the time I used it before switching computers to Vista, it was great! I'll just keep my fingers crossed that an upgrade will be released before long...

"Disappointed"
I've had a Palm Zire 71 for several years and when it died recently I ordered a Palm TX.

The TX arrived 2 weeks ago. It looked like a nice little machine but I couldn't get it to HotSync with my desktop. It turned out the HotSync problem was because my Windows Operating System is an XP Pro Media Edition and the software that came with the TX was incompatible.

The documentation was no help and after I searched fruitlessly on the Palm website for a solution, a sales clerk at Office Depot advised me to look on the Palm site under Vista, and download the updated software, which I did.

With the updated software, HotSync worked just fine.

Unfortunately, that's about the only TX feature that *did* work. For no apparent reason, the digitizer suddenly went crazy. Then the buttons wouldn't work. Finally, the TX froze up and the power button just plain quit.

I went to the Palm website again, looked up the directions and did numerous hard resets. Each time, the TX would work for a while, then the digitizer would go crazy, it would freeze up and the power button wouldn't respond.

Since I'd had the TX for less than two weeks and was getting nowhere, I called Palm's Customer Support department and spoke with a technicioan. In addition to her decidely broken English, the Palm technician was so rude and unhelpful, I decided on the spot to return the TX for a refund instead of a replacement.

In contrast to the Palm technician, Amazon's customer service representative couldn't have been nicer and he made the return of my obviously defective TX virtually painless.

Because I am an ebook author as well as a regular ebook reader, I own several wireless reading devices, the first of which was a NuvoMedia Rocket that I purchased way back in 1998. So, as I advised the Palm technician, it was not as if I was a stranger to handheld devices.

Personally, after using my Palm Zire 71 for so long, I've come to love the Palm's display, speed and agility.

My old hp jornada, in comparison, is glacially slow, loses its data whenever the battery goes dead and won't sync with my Windows XP. OTOH, the jornada's built like a tank, it functions as well today as it did out of the box and resetting it is a breeze.

Based on my experience with the TX as well the reviews I've been reading here, there and elsewhere, I've concluded that Palm's quality control and customer suppoort must have gone to hell in a handbasket. And, since every other TX appears to be a lemon, I've been left wondering if that technician was so rude because she was sick and tired of fielding complaints about it.

Since I liked my Palm Zire 71 so well, I've ordered a brand-new silver Palm Zire 72 instead and am hoping I'll have better luck than I did with the TX.

"Screen problems"
I liked the TX set up and features. Unfortunately, if you can't access them, it's a paperweight. The screen I got was touchy from the beginning and the digitizing function didn't help. Palm does not sell the replacement digitizer screens separately, and sending the product in for replacement was going to cost more than I paid for it. I couldn't get the screen from any other vendor, like I had done for my Palm E2. Eventually, the screen just stopped working and I couldn't fix it by hard reboot or anything. I have to get something else now, which is a shame. Before you buy this one, I would recommend reading the tech support pages off the Palm website. When I went there with my problem, I found I was in good company as many others had screen problems. I wished I had read them before I bought, but my previous Palm had been very good.

"Fine product, if you can get one that works"
I've bought Palm/Handspring products for years and never had a problem with a unit not working right out of the box. This time around, the first two units shipped were defective. I really like the product, but getting one that worked was a frustrating experience: 9 hours of charging 3 units, another hour fiddling with installation, two trips to the UPS office for the returns, and about 3 weeks to finally get one that worked.

What our customer's say!

"Good spec for a PDA, but it have a touch screen problem", This is the first PDA I owned. I was excited as I received this product; however, I was quickly disappointed after a few days when the screen become unresponsive to the stylus. For instance, when I tried to click on the Memos icon, I get no respond or another application open instead. Another example of the problem is when I used the Note Pad, the screen make weird marks or inaccurate marks when I tried to write a letter or number.
I was in a looped with the stylus calibrating and even after the stylus become active again, a few minutes later, it becomes defected again. I tried soft reset and hard reset but it did not fixed the problem at all. Finally, I decided to go onto Palm's forum to find a way to fix it. Yet, I found out that there are many problems with other Palm's users revolving around this setback since '06 or even earlier; however, it seem that Palm's engineers/technicians are not taking much action in fixing this known situation that have many Palm's consumer unhappy and having their product refurbished, but only to have the product further defected. However, there are a few solutions that other found helpful without the help of Palm's Support, but it was not for me.
I guess this goes as a lesson for me to looked up product's problem before taking a head-dive into a total disappointment in the end.

"tx desktop doesn't work", I initially installed the tx on my Desktop PC running Windows XP. It installed and captured all of my Palm IIIxe contacts and memos. The hot sysnc worked fine. I needed to edit some of my contacts. I attemted to open the Palm desktop. I got a Windows "Palm Application Error" and the Palm desktop closed. It just keeps doing this. Then hot sync quit working. I uninstalled the software with the Palm CD and reinstalled it. No change- nothing worked. So I tried to install in on my Laptop running VISTA. What a mess. It simply would not install correctly. I tried all the tips in the Palm support site to no avail. After 6 hours I packaged the unit up and am sending it back to Amazon. To make matters worse, the Palm tx installation erased my Palm IIIxe software, and I cannot get the old software reinstalled now. So the only copy of all my contacts and memos is on my Palm IIIxe handheld unit. What a mess!!!

"mixed feelings", I have mixed feelings about the Palm T/X. I have it working perfectly now after a good deal of hacking. I have been using Palm ever since it originally came on the market. The apps for which Palm is known for (calendar, todos, etc.) work great. Documents To Go (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) work great. Pocket Tunes (music, FM Radio, etc.) work great. Battery life is excellent. Wifi is excellent. The screen is good.

Now for the bad things. I get the feeling that Palm doesn't want to support Palm Pilots any longer. The usb cable and connection that the Palm syncs with is not engineered very well. I couldn't get it to work. Fortunately, there are other ways to sync. The software that came with the Palm did not work with my wifes 64 bit computer even though Windows Vista was 32 bit. I read Palm does not support 64 bit and has no plans to support it in the future. I downloaded Palm Desktop from Palm and that worked. The Palm is a very good tool for managing my time and providing a good deal of entertainment, however I shouldn't have had to deal with all the initial problems.

"dissappointed nursing student", I am dissappointed with this device, I cannot close out certain programs and go Back to previous screens. It is mandatory for our BSN program and it is not compatible with our campus wireless system at all. I have dropped it in the case 3 times from my pocket to floor and kitchen table and now the sensitivity of the screen is off 1/2 inch to the left so I cannot access or command screens and applications. This was a huge investment and bigger dissapointment, it is also heavy in the case to lug around in my lab coat.

"I'm in Love!!", I'm loving this device.. it's amazing.. Very useful and easy to manage...

The only thing, cost one star from my rate, is my device didn't recognize my SD 4GB FlashMemory.. I bought together with palm, but it doesn't work.. It's working in my computer and digital camera... Shame...

"Fantastic product", This product does everything a need and it is very easy to use. Much better than my previous PDA. Holds all of the medical software I need and keeps all of contacts and calendar information in an eash to access format.

"Havent gotten a real chance to use it", I was planning on going to nursing school right away.. but pushed it back to a couple years from now... therefore i havent really been able to use the Palm.. But im going to hold onto it bc i really like the style, its really easy to use, i love how i can download a ton of programs onto it! I wish i could give more information..

"Palm Tx", This palm has a faster operating system than my old one and came with a hard case which was much more durable overall much greater speed and was very easy installation, if you enjoy a palm this one is a keeper.Palm TX Handheld with Hard Case

"Case is just OK, but could be better", I have a separate review for the Palm TX Handheld, so I will just review the Hard Case.

If you're getting this case with the Palm TX, then you'll find it to be just okay.

Pros:
- definitely protects your TX from hard impacts. Mine was in the case when it fell into the basement floor and the case fully protected my TX. The case had two dings on it, but my TX was safe inside.
- the top lid folds all way back and provides a unique way of holding the PDA. It's not uncomfortable.

Cons:
- there are no cut outs for quick access to the hotsync port, SD card slot, headphone slot, power switch, or stylus
- the plastic latch that holds the case closed will wear out after a while

If you'e looking for a better, more solid case, I'd opt for the Saunders 00497 RhinoSkin Aluminum Hardcase for Palm Tungsten TX/T5. I used this for my T3 and the latch never wore out and it protected my T3 from countless falls.

"Hard to use, first one I received was defective!", I purchased my Palm TX a week ago. It arrived here with lightning speed, so kudos to Amazon. The problem is, it was defective!! Every time I searched for our wifi at home, the screen went blank and the Palm froze up completely. I had to soft reset to get it functioning again. I chatted online with Palm's tech support, and they wanted me to purchase additional software, which they *hoped* would solve the issue. When I refused to pay for software that may or may not work for my brand new product, I got switched to phone support. It only took them 2 minutes to realize that my Palm was defective. I'm returning my Palm with the crazy optimism that the next one will work. If not, I'm exchanging it for a Nokia n810!
