"Why Isn't This Guy Well Known?"
What a great CD! Great guitar, insightful lyrics, Great Beat and it's easy to dance to. I give it a 98%.

"I miss Dire Straights..."
Knopfler is one of the best guitarists and songwriters on planet earth. But I expected more.....I wish his old band was still together.

"Awesome!"
This is a Awesome CD by a Fantastic Artist! All of Mark Knopflers CD's are very good. But, This one is my personal favorite! I have always liked Artists who do there own thing. And, M.K. is definitely in that group. So, To Hell With The Critics!

"Zzzzzzzzz"
I love Mark Knopfler music...I thought. What I love is his guitar, which apparently has been relegated to 40 seconds of low key filler at the end of each song.

The songs: pleasant to boring. Mark, for the love of Jesus, please find your guitar mojo and bring it back.

"Etched"
I just heard the new album by The Dreaming called Etched in Blood and I think that if you like this CD you should for sure check it out. The Dreaming has a unique mix of punk, metal, and darkwave capturing emotional rock. It really is one of my favorite albums of 2008 so far. Check it out.

What our customer's say!

"Not Much Energy", Just keeping this short and sweet, this CD is really void of any energy. Sure there may be a track of two with catchy chord progressions, but realistically, it's quite boring. I am a big fan of MK's music, and especially his guitar playing ability, but this CD just doesn't work for me, and, it won't be one that I grab for long road trips.

Half the time, I don't have a clue as to what Mark is singing about as his voice is muddled and trails off. This is part of the "energy" that is simply missing, both in his singing and his playing. I kinda get the feeling that MK just doesn't care anymore. (On the very first track I was reaching for the controls trying to boost treble, but for some reason, it is not "crisp"....what's up with that? Sounds like he recorded it in his living room). I'd pass on this CD.

"Becoming a fan", This CD has some lovely melodies, and the lyrics are interesting as usual. My husband introduced me to Mark Knopfler's music, and my appreciation has increased with each CD I listen to. Husband thinks some of the lyrics are a bit too grim ("Madame Geneva's", for example). I find some of them startling and some puzzling, but either way, I enjoyed the music. "True Love Will Never Fade" is a beautiful tune.

"Not just a bunch of fickle tunes for fickle fans", Gone now are those marvelous guitar solos, charged with energy yet seemingly effortlessly controlled as, for instance, the Basel live version of "Sultans of Swing". But still very apparent in this CD is the ability to tell a story in a song and to express emotion on the guitar. Knopfler has moved on, and although the youthful energy is no longer there, his art has not diminished, and that puts him in another league from any other musician that I know.

The quality of the music is toned down but still very apparent. Some of the story songs are certainly by comparison to his classic stuff a bit quaint - like "The Scaffolder's Wife" and "Secondary Waltz" - and they are not the stuff that invites listening over and over again. But they are well done and not just throwaways, although perhaps they require the listener to be beyond a certain age.

The rest of the CD has a lot more understatement and more staying power. Songs such as "Behind with the Rent" and "In the Sky" are gems that are beautifully done. As a whole the lyrics are subtle and clever. The guitar says much in a quiet way.

"Superb storytelling ", The lyrics and the scenes described are just wonderful. Listen and you will understand.

"Superb Music",

Mark Knopfler is a fine musician with highly developed skills as a producer.

I admire and respect his hard work as I do his humanity.

"...y el rock???", Mark es único...y su música tiene una sensibilidad especial, asi como su ejecución de la guitarra...solo quienes le seguimos extrañamos el rock en sus albumes recientes muy centrados en el folk y country.
La variedad musical de un disco como Sailing to Philadelphia no la ha vuelto a repetir, pero sabemos que lo hará en cualquier momento.
Este señor es sin lugar a dudas uno de los guitarristas más grandes de todos los tiempos.

"Knopfler's Best!", Within the very narrow corridors of the iTunes obsessed (music as disposable content) recording industry, Mark Knopfler's Kill To Get Crimson is a welcome reminder of a not too distant past when complete "albums" were not just the medium but the message as well.

Knopfler's work on KTGC is nothing short of astonishing, vividly flowing together as a twelve title song cycle that strolls through the last three generations of British popular (and not so popular) culture - looking through the window of pawn brokers, failed artists, humbled actors, corporate sycophants and the occasional MILF. This is Britannic Tin Pan Alley and is easily the best work that Knopfler has ever done.

The shimmering production and fully realized artistic vision makes KTGC an essential and critical distraction from an era where rock stars are either invented on games shows or lamely masquerade as Disney Channel ingenues.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

"boring", Like many others who gave this album 3 stars - I have all Mark's solo recordings. He is in my top 3 performers and recorders. His live performances are breathtaking, but this album is simply boring - nice music to go to sleep to and not much else.
I'm hoping the concert here in July will make up for it!

"what a disappointment", This is a huge anticlimax after All The Roadrunning. Undistinguished and dull songs for the most part. But what is unforgivable is that Knopfler has literally, passage-by-passage, copied from the Italian songwriter and performer, Paolo Conti. Did Knopfler really believe that noone would notice?

"sleeping aid", Knopfler is beginning to sound a lot like Burl Ives. Good music to snooze to.
