"Great game but has its flaws.." Like most gmaers whotake their fun seriously, i have played all of the previous COD releases, and enjoyed them all emensely. What I found in this game however is refreshing in that it is up to todays standards, and storyline, thus creating a fictional atmosphere in the middle east and Russia. Gameplaty is good but ditto J.McIntre's comments as right on. repawning i found to be just plain lame. Theuy use this for gameplay these days,in place of realism, and i beleive for the younger set,who just don't know any better. generally i don't like to diss games for the sake of unwarranted tidbits. The game is good in itsown right. Worthy of a purchase for sure. Its length may be short but its content is very well worth money spent. I happen to love cinematics in games. This game offers a little bit of that and more plus good sound effects, storyline etc.. So many games put forth do not take these things into account, thus falling far short in thier efforts. While linear in design, that is OK as that is the way this typwe of game has alwys been. Game makers market a game to appease the masses, and not a select few. LOL Also, making a game that runs and plays on most anybodies computer worthy of game playing is a plus and although i ditto another reviewers thoughts about 'Crysis' as being a bit better IMO, in that regard, they are differnt type and style games. Much better graphics then previous installments..so credos there. Overall i gave it a four star only because the first time i played it, i got confused many times with objectives and not knowing the respawn thing, until the second go around. Should have figures as much. Like a previous reviewer, i put it like third behind 'Crysis',and Rainbow Six Vegas. Worthy of buying and playing for sure.
"I have never played such an amazing game" This is without a doubt the best game I have every played. I have been playing computer games for almost 20 years now, and Call of Duty 4 is absolutely amazin - the graphics, the game play, the reality, the fun, everything! I have also shown this to a few friends of mine who were astonished as I was to see how good it really is. BUY IT!!!
"Infinity Ward got it Right" I've been a fan of FPSes for years now, but the WWII genre is the only one I've enjoyed playing online. I've done the game server admin thing, run clan websites and played a LOT of both Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. CoD4:MW is well worth the price and its switch to modern day warfare does not disappoint, IMHO.
IW has definitely done almost everything right with this game. Especially when viewed alongside the game that really put this genre on the map: Medal of Honor. It's hard to review this installment without doing a comparison because almost everything that pushed MoH:Airborne into the bargain bin after only a few months was done completely differently in CoD4:MW, and the ongoing demand for the latter proves which was 'right'.
Single player is outstanding. The characters and running dialog are interesting and at times quite funny. Many nods to various films (esp. Aliens). I found the "ending" to be one of the most compelling since Outcast, from Infogrames. The user interface does what you tell it to do and there are very few (literally) nauseating moments where you try to move and the character doesn't, etc. Replay variability keeps interest up. The AI (both friend and foe) is certainly limited but not brain-dead by any means. On the higher levels the enemy will try to flank you and your teammates (while a tad bit unrealistically indestructible - especially as compared to you) will follow your lead most of the time.
Multiplayer is similarly well done. Even on servers with many players, I've found the action to be smooth and almost always fun. The ranking/challenge system makes things interesting, but is backed up by the fact that if you DON'T want to play ranked, you can simply find a server that doesn't use it. This is capped off by the release of mapping/modding tools which, again, were not released for MoH:Airborne (which, IMHO, is what led to its early demise). There are already hundreds of custom maps and mods available for MW, so if you get tired of one style of game play, you get more value by being able to find servers that offer something else.
I'm lamenting Electronic Arts' utter failure with MoH:PA and now MoH:Airborne, because it was the game that got me interested in online FPSes, but I'm very happy to see that IW has recognized what makes this genre tick.
"Lots of Fun, except for arcade mode" Ona whole, this game is great. Graphics, sound, action etc is all top notch. However, my only beef is the single player mode.
The unlocked arcade version is timed and it takes the fun out of popping bad guys for points. Some levels (like death from above) don't even need to be timed, but they are. I have also completed levels with 30 seconds - 1 minute left, but the level isn't "over" until the characters finish their dialog, thus, I got pwned.
Again, my only complaint. Great game.
"Very awesome" I was surprised how subtly reminiscent this game is of the older Call of Duty games - just something about the way it feels. Overall the gameplay is just great, with lots of fun weapons, upgrades, maps, and missions. The singleplayer missions are just intense and visceral and overall a blast except for a few frustratingly hard parts. Leveling up to unlock more of the sweet weapons, perks, and challenges in multiplayer is sweet; there are lots of great maps to play on, and the gameplay just hits that sweet spot of engaging fun.

What our customer's say!
"Awesome Game!!!", I have now played the whole game and I was very impressed. I would recommend it to anyone who is into these kind of games.
"Tons-O-Fun", This is defiantly one of the most entertaining games I've played.
-Pros Smooth and balanced gameplay. Great looking graphics. Fun customizable classes. Great selection of guns and maps. Single player actually has a very good story line.
-Cons Heavy on graphics. (Fast machine required) No prestige mode in PC version. (For those of you who have it on Xbox) Sucks your time down like milkshakes in "There Will Be Blood"
"Play well and conquer", Call of Duty 4 is a fast paced, truly epic first person shooter. The single player campaign will grab a hold of you and will not let you go. It's like playing a movie. The multiplayer online mode will keep you coming back for months to come. Like other FPS games, quick thinking and excellent mouse aiming are your keys to victory. Call of Duty 4 requires a slightly higher end computer to enjoy it at it's prettiest settings.
"gun, plains, and choppers, OH MY!", This game is by far one of THE best CoD games. Sure the single player mode is short but that's just to get you ready for what this game is made for: online play. The online is simply AMAZING. The maps could be a bit bigger (especially Shipment, the smallest map. I once played a 50-person Hardcore (1 hit kill) match... wow was that hectic!) but the ones that are big are pretty good. The PC version's online play has better people that the Xbox 360 version. At my friend's house I got him 1st place in a match where he was in 2nd to last. And the ending, not to give anything away, is the best ending i think I've seen in a video game! Very much worth the 50 dollars!
"Mayor disappointment", As the graphics looks nice, the game itself is a big disappointment. The underlying story is the usual stuff (hunting down some bad guys). But what disappointed me the most was that you can play the entire game in one weekend or less. Yes! And that's not just when playing 24 hrs a day, rather like 5-8 hrs a day. The game is short. You don't get the money's worth. Maybe they ran out of ideas halfway into the game or thought that if they keep it short, then they can release another one to get more of your money. I guess that most of the people who posted the review here didn't realize how short the game really was because they wrote the review before they fisished the game. Don't buy. Crysis is much, much better.
