"Fantastic first projector!"
If you're just starting your adventure with Home Theater like I am, this is the projector to get. While the flexibility is limited, the picture is great. Refer to www.projectorcentral.com for the throw/placement calculator.

This little PJ provides great shadow detail with its accurate Grey scale tracking. I have only adjusted my settings with Avia but the picture is great. I also have ND2 filter to slightly lower the light output and the result is one tight image. Playing GTA4 is wicked on this. Mainly because of its dynamic day/night changes which show off the color capabilities of this machine. Dark images have lots of detail - buildings, sidewalks, alleys, etc. There's tons of options to adjust the picture to whatever you like. Gamma, custom RGB, etc.

Movies look great as well. I watched the The Matrix Trilogy HD DVD on this PJ and it was breathtaking. The rest of my HD DVD collection looks great as well. I will mention though that I only have an 85" screen and am shooting on a white wall! I'm in the process of getting a mount and already have made a DIY screen that is waiting to be hung.

Before buying any projector you have to understand this - you need a dark environment to really enjoy the picture. This PJ is no exception although it is brighter than most and will give decent picture with some ambient light. I have limited my watching to evening and night-time so no problems here.

Just in case you are wondering, HC1500 is the younger brother of HD1000 (2006) and the predecessor of HC1600 (2008). The only differences between all of these 3 are the brightness and the fact that HC1600 uses the slowest color wheel which is why I would put it on the bottom of the list, with HC1500 being the best.

"Excellent home theater projector"
i did alot of research before investing this much money into a projector, and i have to say this is a GREAT investment. picture is flawless!!! i have a light controled room and with it dark and on low lamp it is still almost too bright on some movies and games. ok this is my set up im useing a plain white wall about 12 feet away it is sitting on a shelf behind my couch. i screen is HUGE and i love it. i have my PS3 hooked up to it with hdmi cable and blue ray look AWESOME i mean its not 1080 but still way better than a plain tv could ever do. the only down side to this is my set up and with it being right behind my head if you sit right infront of the projector you can hear the fan but i dont so i dont care. fan isnt that loud anyway. if you thinking about gettin this projector get it!!!!! i have had it 1 1/2 months

"Great Projector!"
Amazing picture. Mitsubishi makes it very easy to replace bulb if there are any problems within the warranty period. Wide screen image is awesome. I have it on a standard white wall, at about 120 inches and it looks amazing. I have watched DVDs, Verizon Fios HDTV, and Xbox 360 and all look fabulous. I am about to buy the white wall paint made for projectors and can't wait to see how good that will look! Amazing projector for an amazing price.

"happy with purchase"
So far, so good.
I"m not an advanced tech user and haven't used all the features of the projector, but for simple set it up and watch movies, I'm happy. Better viewing with a screen. Good value.

"Nice"
This is a very nice projector. I havent had any problems with it what so ever. My screen size is 7 feet 6 inches wide by 4 feet 3 inches tall. You havent played GTA 4 (XBOX 360) till youve played it like this! A++++

What our customer's say!

"Great Projector for anyone", I first looked at many reviews on this projector online, I was mainly looking for something that was affordable but packed what I needed for whatever I might do. This projector had it all! It also was given the highest in reviews everywhere so my mind was made up.

Now I'm not like the other guys who seem to be professionals at this type of thing, but i wanted something to play my video games on and such and maybe more. When I first turned it on I was amazed. The brightness level blocks out any lights I have on and creates perfectly crisp and clear pictures with the best color I've seen in a projector and I've seen a lot. Though I laugh at amazons pic of a family watching in a room which appears lit by sunlight, which kills the pictures brightness horribly, that was my only complaint about it.

The hum wasn't very loud either, I didn't really notice it much and it was the simplest thing to set up. It works with my computer and PS3 perfectly and gives me a picture I can put my friends TV's down for. I laughed at the up to 300" in picture size, cause as long as its dark you can get as huge as you like. Parked the car in a parking lot and powered this baby up to play Guitar Hero on the side of a building and lets just say people noticed for at least half a mile, if that's not bright enough (it was night time though) I don't know what is.

This projector filled my needs and more. Even when DJing I got all the legalities out of the way and played music videos at my dances. I can say that a few probably went home and bought themselves one of these. I would recommend this projector to anyone for whatever you need. I hear complaints on the aspect ratio not changing, well now things are all coming in widescreen, so there's not much reason to complain.

This thing ROCKS!!!

"Outstanding value ", I am really pleased with my projector. I have had it over 9 months and am still blown away at the quality. HD TV is mind blowing, especially sports. I have had many friends over, who have spent way more than me on large LCD TV. They cant believe how much I have paid, compared to their TVs. I have heard "Your picture is just as good as mine" more than once. I have it projected on a white wall, and it looks great. (One friend thought the wall was a TV.) It also works great with my PS3. Overall I think it is a steal for the price. I don`t see why anyone would buy a TV when they can get a projector. If you have the room, and a large white wall it is the only way to go.

"A true HD Home Theatre (HDMI) w/Blu-ray experience!!!!!", If you want High Definition with HDMI and Blu-ray inputs at a very reasonable price the Mitsubishi HC-1500 7 color wheel DLP projector is the steal of the century for you!!!

Not the newest projector but the best priced one for your home theatre.

My Qualifying statement: My HD home theatre weighs in at about $2000 plus movies. A break down is; Mitsubishi HC-1500 $800 (orig $1495), Sony 5.1 Sound system (HT-ss2300) $400 (orig $500) and the Playstation 3 w/Blu-ray $400 and HDMI (Sony high speed) cables $160. Plus $150 HD Screen paint kit for my 108" viewing wall screen. With this I have created a home HD Theatre presentation equal to IMAX (on a smaller scale).

The crown jewel to this fantastic home experience is the HC-1500.

Summation of the PRO's: Computer (RGB), 12vdc control for remote screen,HDMI and component inputs for (narrow (4:3 ratio) 480i and 480p, widescreen (16:9 ratio) 720p, 1080i and 1080p) and S-video. Remote control allows you to; set aspect ratio, video input, set all features, complete menu access. Easy projector access manual ring for focusing and screen size zoom in/out. Lamp hourly use timer indication menu. ALSO infrared lens in front and rear of projector for 360 remote coverage. NOTE: reflect remote commands up to 30' off wall screen too!! No fan filters !!! (You must keep the area clean and the projector in ventilated room. Basically 6 to 12 inches from obstacles. An outstanding DLP projector that provides the best picture one can imagine. This picture exceeds most movieplexs quality by far! The 7 color wheel (most projectors are 6) adds tens of thousands of additional colors to your viewing pleasure. NOTE: Max projected image size is 300" optimum is up to 120".

Summation of the CONS with resolutions: Minor points but valid ones; 1.) The HC-1500 HDMI input has no audio out jack or internal speaker. (With the HT-ss2300 there are 3 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output and auto audio output to 5.1 speaker system). 2.) Replacement projection Lamp assembly (VLT-HC910LP) costs over $300. (Lamp life 1500 hour in warm mode (brightest picture) or 3000 hours in cool mode (Normal brightness). Cool mode is the preferred). 3). For best results the room (Thus Home theatre) should/must be darkened. This ensures the HD experience is maximized. Believe me it is totally awesome. (NOTE: I have darkening blinds (Levolor cellular shades) which completes the theatre environment).

Bottomline: This 7 color wheel DLP Projector (720p /(1080i)is the best and most economical to have until the True HD Projectors (1080p)are more reasonably priced (starting at $2900 to $10000). Enjoy, I do everyday!!

"Don't Worry, Just Buy It!", Just like you, I pored through all of these reviews looking for any and all information that I could find about this projector.

You have two types of reviews I've found: "regular guy" reviews and audio-video expert reviews that overwhelm you with low-level details.

From a "regular guy" perspective, if you are going to watch movies & football then my advice would be to stop looking and just buy it. You can't beat this level of quality for the price. The picture is great right out of the box and on par with the HD picture I get from my Sony Bravia KDL-32S2000.

You're welcome!

"Best Projector - Fan Noice = Good Prjector", This is absolutely a brilliant projector. Brilliant color and very sharp image. This is way cheaper than having big expensive HD TV for this size. I have this in my bedroom, projected to the complete wall opposite to the bed, and the projector placed on a wall-shelf above the bed, very close to the ceiling. I was scared to use a ceiling mount above the bed, so after a ride to Ikea and 20$, I got a nice strong shelve holding the projector.
I used this for like 8 months now and didn't have any technical problems. I'm not exaggerating; kids prefer to watch blu-ray on this (in the ps3) than going to movies.

Just like all other projectors, you cannot turn on and off quickly. Once you turn it off, it keeps the fan on for a min or so until it cool down the lamp. And you can turn it back on only after that. I use the low light mode and that suppose to give you couple of 1000 extra hours of lamp life. And low light is more than enough for my room.

The only problem I have with this is recently it starts to make a Noise. More of like a whistle, but loud enough to annoy you. I tried cleaning the projector with an air-dust remover, but nothing change. It still make that noise.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"great product", I am totally thrilled. This is my first HD device. So, for a 720P/1080i device, it meets all my expectations.

"Great picture - great product", My wife is great. For our anniversary, she bought me a 92 inch projection screen. I asked her, what am I supposed to do with this? She said "make an outdoor theater". Well, we do live in southern California. I consider myself an expert on consumer electronics, but had not tackled projectors So, I did a week's worth of research on them. I only required 720p and wanted to stay under $1000. I also wanted a lot of brightness and did not want to worry about lamp alignment, so a DLP seemed the right way to go. This one and the model it replaced had a very loyal following and was at the top of many reviews, so I bought it.

I hung the screen between two French doors. When I want to watch a movie, I turn my Tannoy speakers around and put them in the open French doors, carry the projector outside, hook up the HDMI to a DVD player, and run the audio to my receiver.

The HC1500 is great. Easy to set up, a lighted remote, and light-weight. It has an on screen menu that is easy to navigate and intuitive. It doesn't waste components with an LED to tell you the lamp hours, it is easily obtainable in the menus. It also has a two year warranty. This is my first Mitsubishi product, and I am very happy with it.

"A lot of projector for the buck", I could not be happier with my projector. The HC 1500 is very good. I am using it in my basement in a recent remodel which ended up being a 500 sqf home theather/ media center. The wall (not using screens or other artifacts) it is projecting is a 150" (diagonal). The only thing that surprise me in a not so positive way was the distance the projector requires away from the wall in order to get that size of screen which is around 20 ft away. I am glad I chose the Vantage Point CGUPM12-S Universal Front Projector Mount because I ended up in need to mount against the opposite wall in order to don't lose any size in projection. Thios is my first projector so this maybe a caracteristic all others wqoul have anyway.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE PICTURE. OMG. OMG. OMG. What a picture. And the blacks!! Perfect.
If you don't get a good picture with this equipment is because the source you are feeding it with is not good quality, I have nearly 100 music DVDs and you can see the difference in between them. Some have very good picture quality - some don't, so we can't expect the projector to fix it. Watch Shania Twain's "That don't impress me much" video to have your mouth falling from your head. The colors will blow your mind (besides she is a steal :D).

"Excellent projector...", I bought this after weeks of searching for a projector to use as a home "drive-in" setup. For those of you who want to take advantage of warm summer nights (with little to no wind!) this projector is perfect! You will have to wait until dusk to get a decent image on a decent screen, but by the time it gets dark you will have a spectacular image. The screen I'm using is 120" and the projector fills it up perfectly. The clarity and colors are fantastic for a lower end projector. Ease of use is great also. Comes with everything you need to plug in your input source (if it's not an Apple product).

The 1500 is truly a great way to get into the home theater hobby and start building your dream setup. I bought a screen from Dell, but Amazon had some great deals also. Drive-in setup cost was this:

Projector $760
Screen $130
Fence poles $ 20
Umbrella stds. $ 60

Total $970

If you have about $1000 you can have a great drive-in experience every night with family and/or friends and the added plus of being able to take it where you want to.

"Home projector", When comparing price to performance I do not think that this projector could be beat. I am projecting on a 120" Elite 16:9 from 19' away and we receive an awesome picture. Machine seems extremely quiet compared to some. Set up and adjustments were a breeze.
