"WOW. Super improvement." I watched the movie and was quite impressed at how great it looked for such an old movie. I popped in my old regular dvd and WOW! Man was it poor quality. This Blu-ray rocks!
"Halloween. What else can be said?." I think HALLOWEEN has been around so long that nothing new can be said about it. It is a classic and shall forever be. I was a senior in high school when it came out. It has forever changed the Halloween season for me. I cannot imagine Halloween without HALLOWEEN. I think it has a lot more meaning for us "older" kids. Just like DAWN OF THE DEAD, FRIDAY THE 13th, CARRIE, and my personal favorite, THE SHINING. they were all pioneer movies. The music and the mood of these films will never be matched, copied, yes. I highly recommend all five of these movies. There are alot of other decent horror movies out also, but if I want to "go back in time", I just pop in one of these and let the memories & goosebumps start.
"Very Impressed" I've watched this movie many times over the years. It's creepy and scary, yet it has no gore. If you like horror classics with a good, creepy score, rent it. You'll be satisfied. I would like to buy it and you might, too!
"An absolute masterpiece of Terror!!!" This DVD, released last year, is an absolutely terrific representation of John Carpenter's vision of terror in a suburban setting. The picture is nice and crisp, thanks to THX, the sound and video system developed by Lucasfilm, a great restoration of this true classic of horror. In the film, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is terrorized by the man who later is found out to be her brother, Michael Myers, an unstoppable juggernaut of a masked killer. Myers is pursued by his Doctor, Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance in a very memorable role), who seems to encounter hints of Myers' evil as he chases him down to attempt to apprehend or kill him. 30 years later, this film still does not disappoint to frighten everyone. But hey, as Sheriff Leigh Brackett points out, "Everyone's entitled to one good scare." Plus there is a terrific behind the scenes featurette, along with cast bio and behind-the-scenes photos. Get this one if you can. 5 stars!!!
"Satan Has A Son And His Name Is Michael Myers" HAPPY THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY, MICHAEL MYERS!!! Thanks to you, Halloween will never be the same.
"Halloween" is a modern horror classic. To date, it has spawned seven sequels, one remake, and a host of imitations including some of the best holiday slasher fare. I was a freshman in high school when "Halloween" was released thirty years ago on an unsuspecting America. My classmates were hailing it as a great horror film; they couldn't stop talking about it. This film went down in history as one of the top grossing independent films.
Expertly directed by John Carpenter and Debra Hill (who also brought us "The Fog" - a creepy ghost story), "Halloween" shocked America with its chilling plot. What would possess a six-year-old boy from a normal, middle class family and make him stab his teenage sister to death? Satan possessed him! Fifteen years later, when the grown Michael Myers escaped from the psychiatric hospital, his psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis (horror icon Donald Pleasance of "The Flesh and the Fiends," "Raw Meat, and "Phenomena") insisted he was pure evil, and no longer a human. This would explain his ability to survive being shot, stabbed, and set on fire.
Jamie Lee Curtis (daughter of "Psycho" star Janet Leigh) made her film debut as babysitter Laurie Strode; she and her high school friends are stalked by Michael Myers on Halloween. Curtis gives an outstanding performance as the injured teen who desperately flees the maniac while pleading for help from the neighbors who turn off their front porch lights. She quickly realizes there really is a Boogeyman.
It is a delight to watch the beautiful P. J. Soles when she plays her usual role as a mischievous, free-spirited girl. She was a tom boy in "Carrie" and a cheerleader in "Halloween."
Granted, ""Halloween" is not a gory, high body count slasher flick. However, it does have nail-biting suspense, memorable theme music (on a par with "Jaws" and "Friday the 13th"), and history making originality. "Halloween" proved that monsters are still real. They can be the boy next door - the one who killed his sister.
If you haven't seen the original film "Halloween," you're in for one of the best Halloween treats in history. I envy you!

What our customer's say!
"perhaps the greatest horror movie ever made.", the movie "Halloween" doesn't need an introduction. It was a huge hit when it was released and spawned several sequels. It has influenced just about every horror movie that has come after it (in one way or another).
it didn't need to rely on a lot of special effects or buckets of blood to terrify you. The atmosphere, music, and shadowy lighting were enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Also, the relationship triangle of Michael, the Jamie Lee Curtis character, and Dr. Loomis was very dynamic on many levels, and rich psychologically.
John Carpenter's "The Thing" is also a must-see for horror fans.
"Not afraid to say, this was a great buy!", My daughter was disapointed after an in-store purchase. She was left hanging after paying a big price for a Halloween special trilogy that didn't contain the original movie with Jamie Lee Curtis.
"Never looked better", This Blu Ray is an a very good transfer taking into consideration the source and age of the film itself. Fans of Halloween shouldn't hesitate to pick this up as this is clearly how Carpenter would have intended the movie to look...and that's not a bad thing here.
"Thanks, Blu-Ray!", It was great to watch Halloween on Blu-ray because of it's clarity. Turning a 1978 movie to something that looked like it was shot a couple days ago was very cool to see. All the pops and crackles and dots and stuff throughout the audio and video tracks were virtually gone. The special features were fun to watch too. Overall, a good investment!
"Love it!", An old classic now better than ever. I bought as a gift for my son. He loves it.

"Halloween - It Set the Standard", Halloween-the ORIGINAL-was released in 1978. I don't think I've ever had as much fun at a movie as I did when I first saw this. The entire audience was mesmerized by what was unfolding on the screen. We all screamed, shouted instructions to the people on the screen, and held our breath through every scene. The tension was unbelievable. John Carpenter (who has never come close to topping this one) proved he was a master at building suspense and definitely chosing the "less-is-more" type of violence. Why it was labeled as a "slasher" film is still a mystery because there is little to no blood shown.
The original Halloween was an independent film and shot on a shoestring budget. With really no known actors (it did introduce Jamie Lee Curtis) and a still wet-behind-the-ears director, the film at first only received a limited distribution. But word-of-mouth took care of that, and soon the film was everywhere. Roger Ebert gave it 3-1/2 stars (out of 4) and his review said, "[I]t will have you screaming."
You all know the story: babysitter Laurie Strode battles the indestructible and masked Michael Meyers, and the audience is treated to one of the best rollercoaster rides they'll ever experience. The music used in the film is just as memorable as the screeching violins used in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho." Not to be confused with the damning remake by Rob Zombie, this is a must-see for any horror buff. Comparably tame to anything released today, the movie last 92 minutes and is rated R for brief nudity, violence, and some adult language.
The true test of any classic movie is "can it withstand the tests of time?" Halloween (the original) has indeed done that. I never miss when it's on television and I also own several of the movies. As is most cases, the original is always the best. The plotline of this movie has been copied by just about everyone in the horror genre. The majority of those films failed miserably because all they were interested in was the body count.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
"Halloween goes Blu, thanks to Anchor Bay!!!", This is a great Blu Ray disc from Anchor Bay,it's shaper than the Divimax release a few years back, and that one looked darn good, but this one is even better, Halloween like you never heard or seen it!!!,a great early Blu title from Anchor Bay,also recommended are Blu's of Dawn Of The Dead(it's the thearical cut),Day Of The Dead, and Evil Dead II.all these Blu's are great,I have em' all,and each one has great choice extras as well, lets hope that Anchor Bay releases other quality Blu's in the near future!!! "Recommendead"(Ha Ha!)!!! A+
"a tip 4 U", just a tip that box set IS NOT worth it. If you want all the movies> walmart has halloween 1 for $10, H-2, H-3 combo pack for i think $8.00 and then theres BEst bUY whom has H-4, H-5 for $15 ea. Walmart just got in recently a NEW odd never seen b4 till recent a box set of Halloween 6, 7, 8 combo for $15. Buy it if yur a hard core fan. Good $ price for 3 movies!! Plus just about anywhere has the 2007 vs of halloween for about $20 i think. so for bout $85 you can get all the Halloween movies if you got the $$$ and are a hard core fan! SOOOO wish a produceers cut of H=6 would come out. I heard its about 45min of additional footage that the theatrical release didnt show?? for whatever reason... SO there you go... AND another Halloween movie a sequal from last years (2007) will be out in 2009 i heard>?? who knows the more remakes and or ssequals they make there just ruining what few great halloween movies there are currently. If there going to make a sequal make one w/ john(josh hartnett) lauries son coming back and facing michael one last time or something like that. who knows what those joker producers will end up doing???
"It's a classic for a reason", Guess, I'll finally weigh in on this one. Halloween is a perfect product of it's time and the fact that it was actually scary allows it to continue to live on all these years later. The cast is perfectly awkward, the scares numerous, the soundtrack exceptional, and the nostalgia brilliant. Every year, after we've killed -- er, I mean fed --the last trick-or-treaters, we settle in for this fabulous, low-budget gem. It deserves it's status among fright films.
"the original!", You cant beat the original Halloween! It is fantastic, has a wonderful theme song that gets stuck in your head! Watch this classic horror film with Jamie Lee Curtis in it!
