Others say...
"PC USERS WHO ARE TEMPTED: BEWARE!!!" You've seen the ads. You've heard the accolades. You take the plunge. The first 24 hours are really pleasing... the Mac "just works!" out of the box... it is really good if you are a total tech-incompetent. I am not, but I enjoyed the set-up: nicely done.
Then, you spend time with the machine. You start to use it. You start to have doubts - "have I made a terrible error?" Sadly, the answer is "yes."
All that noise about how "user friendly" the Mac is? Only true if you have absolutely no clue what you are doing, and don't want to do much anyway. The finer points of UI design, the small-print of usability - well, the Windows operating system is simply far, far better. An experienced, technically competent PC user will find the Mac UI profoundly irritating. Expect:
* Higher 'click counts' * More random machine slow-downs * Infuriating random events (icons vanishing, other weird stuff...), as - of course - the God-like Mac programmers know FAR more than you do about what you really want... * Incompatibilities... * Unsupported devices...
If all you want to do is "oooh!" and "aaah!" at a big screen, or at a cool but trivial effect (eg Photobooth), then go buy one. I have already bought a replacement PC, and the Mac will be relegated to being a family-room web-browsing station.
DON'T FALL FOR THE ADVERTS!
"Apple iMac " Great product, solid platform. I was skeptical at first, but I have been pleased with the performance so far. I would completely recommend this for anyone. Merchant was great, shipping was extremely fast.
"Fast, beautiful screen, quiet" I got tired of listening to my Mac mini's loud external drive. This thing is quiet, full of storage, has a beautiful screen and is overall amazing. Just amazing. Every single person who walks in to my office comes over to stare at it. They usually think it's just a "really nice monitor." Then I tell them, "No, that's the whole computer." Then they go back to their little Dell laptops and cry.
"First-time Mac owner/user" This is my first Mac and I found it quite easy to transition over from a PC. Don't believe all the hype that Macs are complicated. The display is beautiful, making it easier to multi-task with browsers, apps and quicktime. The keyboard is very comfortable and sleek (i went with the wired keyboard since it has the number keys on the side, but upgraded to the wireless mighty mouse for convenience). I've had this for about a week and am a complete Apple believer now!
"A Happy Return to MAC" I originally "cut my teeth" on a Mac, but migrated to the world of Mr. Gates simply because so much of the world of business uses this cumbersome and frustrating system. I even became somewhat accustomed to the incompatibilities and other annoyances that came along with the change.
Then just about a year ago, I ventured back into the wonderful, intuitive, simple world of the Mac with the purchase of a MacBook. Just a few short weeks ago I completed my return to the world of sensibility with the 24" iMac Desktop. Wow! What a beautiful machine. It works flawlessly. It is the embodiment of what personal computers should be at this point in their evolution. Perhaps I am a bit effusive in my praise, but you must consider from whence I have come...

What our customer's say!
"sufficiency", This is our 4th month with the 24" Imac.2.4 Gz. We upgraded memory to 4 Gig from the 1 Gig that shipped standard. We found Apeture, the Apple photo application, will not run well on anything less. We changed the cards ourselves. This Imac came with Samsung cards, so we did the upgrade with Samsung cards. The leopard operating system is radically intuitive,so we found we had to consult a manual to investigate all the features. Open source software means lots of innovation and if you (like us) are new to apple you really should take a week to read up on, and awaken to what it can do for you. These macs are actually fun(remember fun?)to operate. They do not bark at you or give you obscure error file codes. Things, files, folders do not go missing. The big screen allows unheard of editing and layout possibility. The unit is unbelievably clean looking. There is ONE cord to this entire thing(the power cord)this particular unit came with a wireless keypad and mouse. The stereo is very good and completely built in. This unit comes with its own Airport extreme included, which operates as a base station,it runs an airport equipped macbook in the bedroom at the other end of the house. Not knowing about this feature, we purchased a separate base station and were astounded that the airport in the Imac operated far better than the separate one, which we returned.(thanks Amazon) After years of grating noises from many brands of P.C.s the Imac runs silent. There is a tiny fan that sometimes comes on, but it is quieter than the fridge down the hall in the kitchen. Applications: I pages is not quite up to its advertising, it does the job but has its limitations especially file types it will save to. I would buy the windows for Mac if I were doing it again. There are quite a few on- line business applications that will not work with a leopard browser,i.e Canada Post and 1&1 internet tools, however the overwhelming majority do. Webmail took some time to get to work consistently, it is laid out so differently from OE
"iMac 24 - 2.4ghz, 320gb, 1gb ram.", I purchased this item recently and thought that the speed 2.4 might be too slow compared to the other models, but I was wrong!
Saving a few hundred on purchasing the unit with a 2.4 processor versus a 2.8 or 3.06 was the best decision I made. I used the cash to purchase 4gb of ram which was easily upgraded.
The unit itself runs great and I am glad I made this decision.
"Light your PC on fire!", Our PC died and since it was several years old, we opted to get a new computer instead of fixing it. I talked to several people who have Macs and love them but was hesitant about the price. We have had it for about a month and a half now and so far, I would not go back to PC. It's fast and very user friendly. I have Microsoft Office on here so I can do all the papers I need for school and spreadsheets I need for work - AND they transfers over to the PCs at computers labs and work. This Mac is SO MUCH FASTER than a PC that has a higher processor speed (Windows, I'm guessing?). GO BUY ONE. YOU WILL LOVE IT. It's not what you think, you can really do more with it than it being just a toy.
"Pleased very nice media hub ", maybe would have liked it more with a matte screen instead of shiny screen. Storage is good, thought I would never run out but alas the more you have the more you use.
"Excellent experience...IF....", Superb machine. Fast. Very. Great screen and colors. Quiet. BUT.... If you want to prevent 1. Crashes every 5-10 minutes - uninstall Microsoft Office from the machine. It will solve 95% of the mysterious crashes I had to experience. 2. Some horizontal lines that appear from time to time on the background and sometimes on some windows - you must install a widget that controls (and increases) the speed of the fans. The machine gets hot as some have mentioned, I guess because of the way it is built - everything enclosed in one box without much air circulation. I have installed a freeware called smcfancontrol then increased the speed of ALL 3 fans by some 30% and the horizontal lines just disappeared. I think iMac does not crash now anymore.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Excellent computer", Great computer, I'm a long time PC user and bought this for my wife to use. The first thing that struck me was the simplicity in everything Apple does. The system just works, the hardware is elegant and plenty fast for now. I upgraded the RAM to 3mb and installed Windows Vista via Parallels. The system has enough horsepower to run both OS's at the same time without breaking a sweat.
As many have said before - the monitor is stunning! I have three high end Samsung LCD's on my PC setup and they don't look anywhere near as good as the monitor on the Apple.
My only concern is that the system is not upgradable - common for an iMac. Other than adding RAM what you buy now is what you will have for the rest of this machine's life. I bought the 320Gb drive but within the first two months had to add extra capacity via USB drives to hold all of the pictures and videos.
Highly recommended!
"Incredible upgrade from old i-Mac", Haven't purchased an Apple in 4 years, this machine truely is revolutionary and I can't believe I would say this about any Apple product "its a good bang for the buck"
"Just OK--Ended Up Going Back To a Mac Mini and a Samsung SyncMaster 213T--AWESOME!!", Just Ok for non-critical work. The computer portion was fine except it had Tiger not Leopard--the problem was really the display--NO EIZO HERE!--the one I got had a crappy 6-Bit panel [read: 262,000 colors--not "millions" as they advertise]. I've since returned this iMac and reverted back to a 2GHz Mini with a Samsung SyncMaster 213T and couldn't be happier. Finally, the credit to my Visa took a rather longish 3 weeks to happen--so make sure you really want what you purchase!
"First Time Mac User", I'm a first time Mac-user...at first I was a little lost, but it is just a visual issue for Windows based users...IT IS AN AWESOW MACHINE!!! Everything on it is just PERFECT: display, appearance, system, security, keyboard, mouse, performance... I'm sure from now on, I will be a MAC USER!
"I made fun of Mac users for YEARS, until...", ...until I bought this iMac and saw the light. No, I'm not a graphic artist or serious musician or anyone who can remotely be classified as "artsy fartsy." Still, after using my iMac for a couple of months, I understand why most Mac users are dedicated to their product with a near religious fervor.
The best way to describe the Mac experience to imagine that you've just been upgraded from flying coach to first class. PCs get the job done, but the comfort and ease of use level is only average. With a Mac, everything you need is at your fingertips (like any good attendant in the first class cabin). I mainly use the computer for business use, web surfing, and organizing music and photos (Mac's a triumph in this area). In each of this areas, the Mac platform glides in and out of each application with a smoothness that no Windows based PC can match.
If you are thinking about ditching PC, don't waste years stupidly overthinking your decision like I did. Take the plunge and give yourself the gift of a computing experience that seamlessly integrates itself into all you want and need to do...
