"Thrillville: Off the Rails " Awesome game. Many many hours of entertainment. If you like Tycoon games, this is an A+ game. Highly recommended.
"This product never arrived" Unfortunately this game was not eligible for APO shipping. However, my son was excited about purchasing this game with an Amazon gift cert that he received for his birthday, so we shipped it to a relatives' house in the States, with the agreement they would ship it to us.
One month later, we received a notice from Amazon stating that the game was not deliverable to the address listed, although we've used this same shipping address for other items in the past. Sure, we received a refund, but that doesn't compare to the excitement of building your own amusement park with the Wii!
It's not very fair that the game receives a 1 Star rating (you're forced to choose a rating if you want to post a review), when in fact, the 1 Star rating belongs to Amazon for not delivering the product.
"thrillville=wii" my kids have alot of fun with it. They like builking the different coasters.
"Lots of fun, but not in the ways I expected" I've wanted this game for a while, but waited until the price was down to buy it. I think even if I'd paid the original full price, I would have been happy with my purchase. The game is a good deal of fun, but not really in the ways I expected.
What I expected, in a nutshell, was a game like Roller Coaster Tycoon, one of my favorite PC games ever---a game where you really design a park from the bottom up, with control over where the rides are placed, what scenery is around, all kinds of prices, even terrain. This game doesn't have that. The parks look and feel like completed parks when you first see them. You have control only really over what ride to put where and minor things like color. You do get more control over roller coasters, but not where they start or end---you can design all kinds of twists and turns and drops quite easily, but somehow you never get the feel you get in RCT---that you really have to work hard to make a great coaster and that you get a lot of feedback from your customers about how much they like it, or don't.
The customers in this game SEEM like you can interact with them a lot, but they are too easily satisfied---they almost always just love your park---and once you figure out what topics they are into, it's easy to choose from a list of phrases what to talk to them about to make them friends. In RCT, you are more concerned about your people as a group.
The real fun here is the extra value---you can play all the games you place in the park, and they are GOOD games! It's really a collection of minigames far better than any other I've found for the Wii, with tremendous variety---lots of shooting games, Bejeweled type games, games that look like Halo, a minigolf game you can design and play, a dirt bike game that's really interesting---and lots more! The games don't really relate much to the park---you don't feel like you are playing them as part of the game but rather just as a break from the game. You can win prizes you can give people, but this is quite hard to do, and you never really see the prizes, you just know you have them.
The game has lots of goals that let you unlock new types of parks, and you can try to complete certain goals or you can just unlock things by chance by making a good park.
It's a little tricky to figure out things like how to save, and it's a little confusing to understand exactly where you are in the parks you own---each park has 3 parts which are quite separate and seem like whole new amusement parks, which confused me at first.
Overall, get this game for the minigames and for the coaster design feature. Don't expect a feel like a Sim game or RCT, and you won't be disappointed!
"worth every penny" I'll admit, I've wanted this game for quite some time, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the original purchase price. Well once I found it at the store for $19.99, I was almost sure it would be worth this price. And I was not disappointed. Who knew I would be up until 2am in the morning playing this game, but that's exactly what happened. I was a fan of Roller Coaster Tycoon for PC prior to the Wii even coming into existence, so for me this game was so much like that and much more. I love the idea of being a park manager and basically being responsible for the success or failure of your theme parks. There is so much to do, and not enough time to do it in. I couldn't possibly play every single game I built, because I'd never go to bed...before the sun came up. It's really cool that you get to build the coasters and then actually get to ride them. The mini games were cool as well. Some of them I could have done without and others I was simply addicted to. Who knew training your mechanics could be so much fun. Being able to talk with park guests was an unexpected feature as well. However, the major drawback is that the conversation totally doesn't flow with the options you're given, so it's a struggle to find that balance between jovial chat and "totally creeping out the guests". You would think that park guests could give you helpful hints and tips to improve your park, but most of them had nothing to offer. Well thanks for nothing, I'll keep my VIP passes, thank you very much. I haven't had much success yet with the matchmaker option. Most of the male park guests I talked to were complete jerks and semi full of themselves. You would think once you uttered the words "I'm the park manager", they'd know to immediately kiss up for the freebies. Perhaps I'll have future success with that. At first, the first person in-the-game prospective took me a while to get used to. It threatened to take me back to the Bee Movie and Wild Earth Safari games where I seriously questioned whether my queezy stomach was a result of something I ate or the motion of "running" through the theme parks. But I was having so much fun playing the game, those thoughts soon became a thing of the past. You're provided with missions to help you gain success with your parks. I may have glanced at them once or twice, but I can honestly say I didn't pursue any of the missions and my parks are doing quite well. Truthfully I didn't even know we had to go by that. Roller Coaster Tycoon never had any "missions", so to speak. The quarky dude helping me with the park behind the scenes totally makes you think he escaped the looney bin, but hey, you can't win 'em all. And let's not forget the ability to somewhat customize yourself as the park manager, which I didn't expect from this game because, once again, in Roller Coaster Tycoon, you were this park manager god who oversaw your parks from a bird's eye view. Thrillville has been out for almost a year now, and with new Wii games being released constantly, this title was bound to drop in price sooner or later. At this point, it's worth the money. So if you're a fan of theme parks, coasters, and puking park guests, then buy it.

What our customer's say!
"Thrillville kind of.", well i guess i'm the only one that was excited about this game. but do have to agree that some of the games on here are little hard to play and get through. but the rollercoaster is awesome watch from all the different angles , but a bit of a learning curve so it's not everyone's favorite in this household.
"Great game the entire family plays.", This game is terrific. First my daughters (5 & 7) played it, then the hubby picked it up, then me. Now we have to set the timer because everyone wants to play it and its easy to lose track of time. I have always enjoyed Sims games but they start to feel like work and can be stressful. This is similar to a Sims game but the work is fun and doesnt feel like work at all. For example, you need to train an entertainer for the park, you teach her to dance by doing some DDR type moves with the wiimote and nunchuck. Same with the park cleaner, you get to run around like a ghostbuster and vacuume up vomit and trash. Ok, sounds gross I admit, but totally fun. The parks are huge and the pre-built coasters, carnival games, booths, etc are awesome. Its fun to put down a hat and balloon booth then see a few minutes later the customers wearing/holding them. The bumper cars are a blast and so are most of the other mini games. This is a must have for any Wii owner in my opinion!!
"Best Game ", This game is very fun and allows creativity. I bought this for my kids and they love it and spend hours having fun.
"Thrillville game for PC", GREAT GAME AND IT IS WORTH PURCHASING. HOURS OF THRILLING EXCITEMENT WITH VISUALS AND SOUND EFFECTS. LOTS OF FUN, IT GIVES YOU THE FEELING THAT YOU ARE AT A REAL THEME PARK.
"A pleasant surprise!", I was pleasantly surprised by this game. I found it for fairly cheap and took a chance on it. I have not been a fan of many Wii games due to broken controls and rushed games which fall sub-par, but this game is quite good and offers all kinds of different activites from managing park details to actually playing the games to obtain new features for the park. This is chock-full of unlockables and although I have just barely scratched the surface of this one I know there are many more hours of fun to be had from this title.

"A bit of a letdown...", This is an okay game, but definitely a letdown...
I bought this a few weeks before Christmas 2007 and was really excited. It turned out to be a bit bland though. The "Whoa" pieces look cool but move slowly and make you wish the ride would get a move on. It also isn't very "whoa" when it won't allow you to use these pieces more than half the time (you have to be straight to use this one, or you must be on a downhill slant, etc.) making most coasters slow, boring, and pointless. Altering paint colors and designs take so much time you end up not caring, leaving all of the coasters defaulted. The building tools are easy to use once you figure them out and go smoothly, however, it may strain your wrist as you try to bend the track all the way vertical. ; ) I noticed that learning how to build wasn't a piece of cake for everyone, so you may find yourself struggling. The overall building and designing of coasters, along with riding gets a mere 2/5 stars. Though it may be fun the first few times, it easily gets boring and you'll find it hard to make your coasters gain speed or do "tricks".
The story mode is alright for the first park or so and then soon tires as well. You focus more on challenging others, flirting, collecting, or clearing space for premades than you do actually designing and making money. The story lines are a bit ridiculous as they involve brainwashing robots, etc that barely keep you involved. You can easily win in one day. You don't generally have the choice over what mini game you play during a challenge or task, meaning that if your stuck, your stuck! You won't be able to get a new park and move on until you complete that little mini game with a high enough score. Overall, the story mode is quite disappointing. It does not allow much free roam at all as you are constantly doing things to win. You must build the coasters your uncle or reporter tells you too or face failure. However, that means even when you're done with the game and come back to your park to tweak, the customers will still be unhappy if you remove one of the task coasters. This leaves no room for freedom in creating coasters that people can actually ride as there are only about six allowable per park. Overall the story line gets a 1/5 rating.
The mini games themselves are disappointing as well. There are about 50 in total including two unlockables but only about 5 are even worth playing. I recommend Bandito Chinchilla, Saucer Soccer, Saucer Sumo, and Stunt Rider. These games are the most involved and fun to play. The rest have incredibly simple concepts and are extremely boring or poorly done. The multiplayer is fun for a while but also quickly is tired of, making it a game to skip for parties.
I also had a problem with the game where it would just shut off the wii out of nowhere, losing all unsaved progress and possibly harming the wii. We had to unplug the system and restart it. This happened three times, each time with this game and this game only. If you are going to get this, FREQUENTLY SAVE YOUR PROGRESS!
I would not recommend this game unless you are more into the flirting and challenging mini game aspect. I warn you though that there is limited, repeating dialogue and you'll probably find yourself skipping most of it anyway. If you are looking for a coaster building and riding experience I warn you to stray away from this game. Good luck with your decision and I hope this helped!
"A fun game, but still needs more", Thrillville Off The Rails is a lot of fun, if you're about 10 I guess.
It's not a bad game, but I have some issues with it.
1- You only have 5 parks you can build. That's it! 2- The coaster creator is kind of annoying. It's not as realistic as say Roller Coaster Tycoon or others. 3- Some of the mini-games explanations leave a lot to be desired. It took me forever to figure out a few of them. I'd hate to be 10 and try to figure them out. 4- If the robots are bad, why the heck does Mortamer have one as his assistant? lol 5- The parks aren't big enough. You don't really have enough room to build a realistic sized coaster.
Overall this is a fun game, the mini games are about worth the price of the disc as well. Many of them are throwbacks to the classic 80s arcade games I love.
"Pretty Good......but it's no Carnival Games", So I just got this game for my Wii and it's.........pretty good. In one mode you run around your theme park trying out and placing rides and booths and games and such which is half fun and half "what am I doing?" Previous reviews mentioned how realistic the coasters were, which they are, but they didn't mention that they were mostly 30 seconds in length, as were all the rides. Kinda short given that this is billed as a coaster game.
In party mode you can indeed forgo the running around the park and just pick a mini game to play, which is nice. As other reviewers said: some games were good and some were "these controls don't really work." The shear number of mini games is impressive but doesn't make this more of a coaster/carnival ride game.
It is fun to customize the color schemes on the rides in your park and the dialogue with the patrons is indeed clunky, as another reviewer said. The soundtrack is very much geared towards the music tastes of pre-teens which, as a dad in his thirties, I found un-cool. I guess I'm just not all that into Avril Lavine & friends.
All in all, this game is okay but if you want a game who's sole purpose is carnival type games then buy Carnival Games for your Wii. If you're looking for a coaster game that will blow your mind, you'll have keep waiting until they release something truly amazing. I'm hopeful.
"bang for the buck", we love the mini games, but the rollercoaster & park simulation is difficult to understand, takes time to develop & even us, dads, don't have now the patience for this. for $30., it's worth it.
"Something for everyone", Wow, this game is packed with stuff to do. Something for everyone. Mom enjoyed the mission challenges in 5 categories: build, games, guests, upkeep, and manage. Dad liked the classic-style arcade games. Seven year old liked exploring the many parks and solving the sabotage mysteries. Five year old loved to build coasters, golf courses, and buggy courses. The music (including Miley Cyrus and Aly and AJ) and the DJ background is pretty hip. The dance/cheerleeding game is terrible, but the shooting/treasure hunting games are fun. Pick your park manager character, dress, customize, then go design your amusement park, meet the many customers, and play the 34 multiple minigames. A really good buy if you like variety.
