"Tilt" Being a big fan of arcade and home simulation pinball, I was really looking forward to The Williams Collection.
However, my expectations were not quite matched. For starters, I just didn't really like the look of the tables. I wished they had used digitized images of the tables rather than using polygons.
Secondly, the feel of the tables is a bit too off for me. I much prefer the physics of the Pro-Pinball series. Lastly, I was dissapionted not to see Mars Attack, Monsters, and few others on this collection.
Otherwise, It was nice to have 8 tables and multiple views of each table. I also enjoyed the sound effects.
Because of the lack of any pinball simulations on the market, I'll still recommend this title. Nice to relive some arcade memories and also enjoyable as a multiplayer game.
"Virtual Reality" One of the best games I've ever played and the best pinball video game I have ever played! This game goes beyond the Gottlieb Collection, and I mean way beyond. The mechanics and physics are outstanding, so much, that at times it may feel better than real pinball.
You can adjust camara views, tilt, and the Williams tables are much more advanced and fun! This game should be awarded, that's how good it is.
"Worth Thrice the Price" Goldurn this is a barrel of fun. You get 8 tables - some have to be unlocked, but I'm not sure how or which ones because I was too busy having fun with the tables I could play, and somehow unlocked the others. Then, on some tables, you have to unlock Free Play, either with 100 credits, or by completing all the table goals on any table. You earn credits by completing table goals and by matching at Game Over. In any case, it all becomes quickly irrelevant, because you'll get so addicted that everything more or less unlocks itself. When you beat the table goals, then there are wizard goals - beat those and you unlock things like custom balls, turn off tilt, etc.
Each table has explicit instructions in a QuickTime-esque walkthrough. If you've ever enjoyed a pinball table but wondered how in the heck you were earning extra balls and free games, this spells it out in wondrous detail, making playing the table that much more fun. You'll be amazed at how much more focused and accurate you can become when you're dying to hit the dummy in the mouth for a million, or pick up that last passenger.
There's not a table here I didn't come to enjoy. Almost, if not every table features the ability to go multiball, with various levels of difficulty. The highlight of the package is Funhouse - it's one of the most popular pinball tables of all time for a good reason. But even the late 70s games are a lot of fun. I find myself spending a lot of time with Firepower - the sparseness and clean goals are a world away from the mach 3 speed of Whirlwind. Which is what's wonderful about the package as a whole - no 2 tables are the same experience. Really underscores the genius of the designers of these things, to wring that much fun and variety out of a simple set of variables constrained to standard dimensions. And hats off to the programmers too, for incredibly capturing the action/physics/feel of pinball.
"Fun, fantastic game for the entire family" I bought this game mainly for myself and my 6 1/2 yr old son to play. Turns out, I like it more than he does! It is fun, fast and addictive. Love the choice of different machines to play on and the chance to unlock them and play in free mode. If I could change one thing it would be the delay between pressing the buttons and seeing the flippers move. Takes a little getting used to the adjustment time but once you do it si great fun. We have family tournaments and we each (5 of us but only 3 old enough to play right now but the others watch) have our own favorite table. Recommend to everyone who is looking for a good, clean, nonviolent video game that they can share with their kids, or for anyone looking to reminisce and enjoy a great game of pinball again.
"Just like the arcade" I have played a lot of pinball games since I was a kid both real and video games and this is the most fun and realistic bunch of games ever on a disc. There is a nice variety of games and everything feels like the real thing, from the flippers to the ball action, tilt and you name it. If you want some pinball fun get this game!

What our customer's say!
"Pinball done right!!", This is by far the best Pinball game available on Ps2. And despit what you might read or hear the flipper action, play mechanics, ball physics, and game play are all spot on. The only draw back to this game is an annoying sound of the ball rolling around the playfield. The sound does'nt match whats going on! I find this a very small distraction! All the lights in the games and voices are true replicas of the actual games. Spend the money and get this for yourself! You won't be sorry!Pinball hall of fame: The Williams Collection. Pinball done right!
"Brings back great memories", People can be a bit over skeptical on this sight, but I must say that I think this collection is almost 100% dead on. The sound effects are the same, the targets are the same and the goals are the same. The lighting is top notch and the action is nonstop. Exactly like the real thing. Yes, you can find fault if you really really knit pick, but I will tell you, for this price and the fact that they even attempted to make perfect simulators out of these older but classic machines totally make up for any shortages.
I now feel I own these machines any time I want them. its really cool to relive these now. God knows I spent a fortune years ago. I give them big points for catering to the small market that is pinball simulators. They did a great job overall and there are many machines to choose from. Not only do you get the ultimate PB game 'Taxi', but Funhouse, Whirlwind and PinBot are also fantastic. There are un-lockable machines and also many different camera angles to choose from. Its almost as good as owning the real thing with no repair issues or replacement parts to buy. I thought the original 'Pro Pinball' series was unbeatable years back, but this offers multiple machines and more options per machine and camera angles than the Pro Pinball series had for just 1. If you like pinball and balk at buying this one, you are CRAZY!
"A long time ago, in an arcade far, far away", I remember the pinball machines lining the walls of the arcade. With a few exceptions, that's all you used to find at the arcade. Then, they started getting crowded out by Pong, Death Race, Space Invaders, PacMan, and their many descendants. To keep up, pinball started innovating, and arguably no one was better at it than Williams. Here you have the first talking pinball machine (GORGAR), the first multi-level playing field (Black Knight), and the first modern multiball machine (Firepower). Williams continued to pull out all the stops to vie for customers' quarters. Latter day machines like TAXI, Whirlwhind, and Fun House seemed to realize the dream of the ultimate Rube Goldberg machine, with more gimmicks than your eye can take in at once.
The Williams Collection has done an awesome job of simulating all of these classic pinball machines. I've played each of these tables over the last twenty-odd years, and the authenticity of these recreations is breathtaking. From the obvious, like the gleaming steel of the ramps and flashing bonus lights, to nuances like the sound of the ball rolling across an open table, Crave has captured a lot of sensory detail.
The "feel" of the game is the best I've ever seen in pinball simulations going back to the late 1980s. Gravity is realistic, table nudging is invited, and best of all, nothing _ever_ breaks. I give it five stars. Those not interested in pinball might not be as enthusiastic, but as a simulation, this is spot on. I would welcome any similar future releases from Crave.
"Good fun", While the Williams' line of pinball tables were probably not my favorite overall, this game does do a good job of recreating their more famous tables. Ball and table physics could be slightly improved but the game plays well overall on the PS2 and a fair range of tables to keep you amused.
"It makes me remember all those pinball golden days!!!", This game is very good. The simulation is excellent, I would give it 5 stars if it emulated the tables at 100%. For example in Black Knight there are some events that are not emulated, when activating multiball, in the real table, the Black Knight spoke some words and all the lights went out, in this game, there is no speech neither the lights go out. Those are the only complaints I have about it, for the rest this is a very good emulation.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"A few shortcomings, but otherwise great. PS3 compatible, too!", I couldn't even guess at how many quarters I dropped in to Taxi, Whirlwind, Funhouse, and Pinbot. Maybe a few hundred dollars worth? Maybe a thousand?
In any case, I spent enough time with those machines to know just about everything there was to learn. And apparently, so did the developers of this game. The sweet spots are all there, and the ball physics are surprisingly accurate for video pinball.
My only real gripe (and I'm sure I'm in the minority here) is that you can't get a really detailed view of the playing area. I'd really like to be able to look at these old tables in pristine condition once more.
Beyond that, this is a great game for anyone who enjoyed playing pinball in the late 80's / early 90's. Sure, there's no way you're going to fully replicate the pinball experience, but this is probably the best video pinball I've ever played.
"pinball wizard", Good game - a bit dull but it arrived in a timely manner and worked great!!
"Its the 1980's all over again!!", If you ever miss-spent your youth in Video arcades in the 80's then this is the game for you!
Pinbot, Taxi, Fun House, Gorgar, Black Knight, Twister, Firepower,Space Shuttle, its all there.
"Outstanding!", I want to say this first before I talk about the game. I am a pinball junky and have been playing the game for 28 years now. I am also visually impaired. Why would I mention my vision problem you may ask, well I feel it helps with the honesty of my review. I have played many different pinballs and for some reason I always come back to Williams machines. They are my favorite machine of the big three. I will also go a bit further and say that with out a doubt Steve Ritchie and his designs and machines are my personal favorite, so also keep that in mind. This game is the best I have ever played on a console period. I prefer it over the Gotlieb collection simply because the Gotlieb machines are my least favorite pinball company of the big three. The Williams collection is very good. I grew up with these machines and contained in this collection are some of my favorites. If you are a pinball fan, you must own this game. If you are familiar with these tables they will be easy for you to complete the goals but still the fun factor is top notch. They play like the actual machines themselves. Making some of the skill shots with the plunger however can take some time and practice but you can still make them if you get a bit creative with using some visual cues.....compare the plunger in relation to the front of the cabinet compared to the bottom of the tv screen for example. You can make those shots by doing it that way. Becoming a "pinball wizard" and completing all the table goals is easy if you are a decant player and know the tables. I only have a few minor complaints, which overall are not that big of a deal. I wish you could select between 3 and 5 ball play. Also when you pick a table to play it would be neat to see the machines power up and boot procedure. To me it just adds that extra touch but is not needed for game play. The only other PC pinball experience that I think you can compare with this is Visual Pinball. This game is a must have for any pinball fan period. I would love to see Crave come out with a Steve Ritchie collection. They might just do that some day, or at least I can dream. :)
"Best Pinball Sim to date!", This is without a doubt the best pinball simulation for any platform so far!! I have some decent games for my pc that microsoft released a few years ago and Redoubt produced a great disk of some Williams classics such as "Creature From The Black Lagoon" that are very good also but these are much more fun to play. Get this game! You won't be disappointed. Hopefully Crave will produce more of these great classics in the future!!
