I don't regret this purchase. I'm not really a musical fan but this soundtrack is amazing.

The Hairspray Soundtrack is just pure fun! The all-star cast sound fantastic on this soundtrack especially Nikki Blonsky, Michelle Pfeiffer, Elijah Kelly, Amanda Bynes, and James Mardsen. I highly recommend purchasing this flawless soundtrack and don't forget to rent or buy the movie, so you can not only hear the great music but see the amazing dancing as well. Go out and have a ball with this one, enjoy!

"great cd for summer!"
This cd has great, upbeat songs that will get you dancing no matter how hot and humid it is. It goes great with a tall glass of lemonade and a grassy lawn, which makes a great dance floor. The lyrics are funny, witty, and support the civil rights movement to boot!

"Colorful Music"
I enjoyed watching the film so much that I had to buy the soundtrack. You can hear the happiness in the main actress' voice when she sings. It makes you feel happy too.

"get your dancing shoes on.."
After you pop in the Hairspray soundtrack, you won't stop dancing til the last song is over with. All the actors are on point with each song that they perform whether its Queen Latifah singing "Big Blonde and Beautiful", James Marsden "(It's) Hairspray", Nikki Blonsky "I Can Hear the Bells" or Zac Efron "It Takes Two". Just about every song on the cd is listen worthy on many occasions. The only songs i didn't really care for where "(You're) Timeless To Me" Christopher Walken/John Travolta and the Big Blonde and Beautiful (Reprise) John Travolta/Michelle Pfeiffer. Its nothing against the songs or singers. I just wasn't into either as they didnt catch me the way the other songs on the soundtrack did.

(it has so much energy and flow to it you can't help love it)

All those songs listed above and even ones not mentioned are all top notch making the Hairspray soundtrack a worthy addition to your musical library. It goes without saying that you should check out the movie as well to get the full effect.

"great cd..", This cd is so good.The songs are great,you get hooked on all of them,and find yourself singing along.It's great because the book comes with the words,so you can learn the songs as well.Great cd.I love it!

"If the price is too good to be true..", I was thrilled when I was able to order this CD at such at great price $5.00 (even if it was an open package). When the CD arrived I popped the CD into my CD rom at work and as very disappointed to learn that the CD only contained a link to the website where the CD could be ordered. While I did get a prompt refund (Thanks Amazon), I believe someone got away with a steal (literally) by swapping the real disc for an apparant "Bonus" disc.
From now on I sticking with "Unopened" packaging, especially with the Christmas shopping season upon us.

"If you loved the movie...", Yes, I suppose you can compare other things to other versions. However, I was very pleased with the new movie and I loved the songs. While I'm not a huge fan of everyone's voices, they all did their best, enough to warrant this the full five stars. Mostly though, it's the songs themselves that really got my feet tapping. The music is simply fun.

"I'm in love with Hairspray, the Musical", I am totally in love with the music and the video of this musical. The voices are great and the music immediately picks up my mood. I find myself humming or singing the tunes all the time. I even wake up with the songs playing in my head. It sets me up for a high energy and positive thinking day.

"Fantastic Soundtrack", I LOVE HAIRSPRAY!! You cannot compare the movie and the Broadway show because they are both fantabulous in their own way. The cast in both deliver great singing and acting capabilities. This soundtrack is by far the only soundtrack from a movie or show that I enjoy every single song on it. If I absolutely had to choose 2 great songs off this soundtrack, it would have to be "Without Love" and "You Can't Stop The Beat". My son and I watch the movie every chance we get and I'm sooo looking forward to seeing the Broadway show AGAIN!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Love it!!!", Welcome to the '60s! This soundtrack certainly does just that. The movie itself was just awesome, and I found it fitting that the director, Adam Shankman, said he made this movie in celebration of the music, as the songs explode with Broadway brilliance and fun. All the great tunes from the film are here, along with some others that didn't make it onscreen, but were added, most appropriately, to the recording. Fantastic singing by all the cast members, wonderful music arrangements, and great energy and exuberance that never fails to uplift me every time I hear it.

If you saw the movie and loved it, and/or just want to step back in time for some fun, then this album is a must. It's a feel-good pill for down-in-the-dumps days, one you'll want to take over and over again.

"Hairspray", I think that the CD has a lot of good songs and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the movie.

"powerful soundtracks", this CD has some of the most powerful songs one can ever perform.... Nice melodies, strong lyrics....great voices to model... It is a great tool in a classroom setting, especially in singing classes

"Fun With One Exception", I am probably going to be crucified for saying this, but I thought the film was terrific with one glaring exception..John Travolta. While I think he is immensely talented...here he just seems immense! I found him difficult to watch, his fake voice annoying...his fat costume too disconcerting. Why didn't they have Harvey Fierstein recreate his Tony winning role?
The rest of the cast are delightful! Nicky Blonski is wonderful, as are Michele Pfeiffer (Always!), Queen Latifah (Always!), Christopher Walken, etc... Lot's of marvelous colorful fun!!

"satisfied", The product was as described. The only thing was I ordered 2 things at the same time, this being one of them, and the other came about a week faster. The product was what was decribed and I wasn't in a hurry so it was all good.
