"Ready for a Vacation?" Are your Sims ready for a vacation? Do they need a break? Well now that vacation isn't a trip to the spa it's a trip with a hotel stay and MORE! Great expansion pack, like always they have base locations but you can always build your own. You can go to 3 Lakes, a woodsey area where you can find your inter lumberjack. You can go to the beach (I forget the actual name :-)) sorry I can't really say much because I haven't been there yet, or you can go to the Far East (forget this name too!) but I can't say much about that either since I haven't been there. So anyway if your looking for a new Sims 2 Expansion Pack get this one!
"Good Addition" The premise for Sims 2: Bon Voyage is fairly simple. Now your Sims can book a vacation and, for a up to a week, spend some time in a new vacation neighborhood. There are three new locations for your Sims to vist: Twikii Island, Three Lakes, and Takemizu Village. Your Sims can go on tours, interact with the locals, collect souvenirs, and take snapshots for their spiffy new photo albums, which can be ordered using a computer when they get back home. Sims don't have to worry about work or school when they go on vacation, and their aging is also suspended. If Sims have a good vacation, they get to choose from some new bonuses when they return. My favorite addition to the game is the beach lot; now your Sims can have houses on the beach and swim in the ocean. Overall I think this expansion pack is worth the money.
"Great Expansion!" Bon Voyage is a nice expansion, and the detail of the secret lots is really cute :) I wish it had more destinations. The new interactions with the townies are nice, but not as many as i thought there would be... Overall, a nice expansion, with great gameplay, very entertaining.
"Bon Voyage has Been Getting a Bad Rap" I honestly think that Bon Voyage is getting an incredibly bad rap. Sure, I wanted it. Then I didn't when I read from A LOT of angry simmers about Secu-ROM and it's affects on their pcs, but I haven't had any problems with it *knock on wood*. I would like to say that this is an amazing game. You get to go on vacations, which are amazing! There are 3 to choose from, which are versions of the Far East, and Island, and the Mountains (I'm sorry, I forgot the name). But these vacations are so cool. You check into a hotel and you can literally rent out the whole place. There are saunas and community lots to visit, not to mention features unique to each destination. the Far East one has ninjas that teach you how to teleport and if you find the map, you visit an old man who tells you a dragon tale you can tell to others. You can go on tours, which have good or bad outcomes (you get a chance card like you would at work). There are new greetings to learn that you learn from a specific place, sovieniers to buy, and your sims can now wear jewelery that isn't custom content! I would recommend this game because it is a good game. Just make sure that you know everything about secu-rom before you buy it and make your own conclusions. h&m stuff, freetime, and bon voyage have secu-rom, and i have no problems *knock on wood.* this is a good game!
"Bon Voyage is good but glitchy" Bon Voyage is a great expansion pack to have because it allows your sims to get out of town. I got bored with my sims at home all the time and found that besides going downtown I needed a break from normal day-to-day routines.
Your sims can go to 3 destination vacations spots: Twikki Island, Takemiku, Three Lakes. While on vacation your sims needs to find vacation mementos. There are 45 vacation mementos to find in all. These mementos are stored under the memory icon in a suitcase. Also while your sims are on vacation they can buy souvenirs which they can display on a souvenir/collection rack. Once they buy all the souvenirs from all the vacation destinations they earn a surprise.
Some of the problems I have experienced with this expansion pack initially were that the bellman keeps getting stuck in my room sometimes. The bellman was stuck in my room for 3 days one time. Also at one of my vacation homes, my sims burned some food on the stove and I could not remove the burnt food from the stove for the entire vacation stay (5 days). So now my sims can't cook anymore and they can only have food delivered. Which also makes me mad because they have other burners on the stove to use so why can't they use another burner instead?
Your sims can learn things like singing a sea chantey or chest pounding which they can teach to other Sims back in town. This expansion is good if you get bored of playing the sims at home all the time and just find yourself needing a break.

What our customer's say!
"Great if it worked", Installed this expansion and it caused random Sims 2 crashes. Looked the problem up on the internet and it was pretty common. Uninstalled and problems disappeared. I'm disappointed to say the least. I DON'T recommend this expansion.
"I love having a beach house!!", I love being able to have a house on a beach lot! My sims can swim in the ocean in their own back yard and it works their body skills at the same time. There is an old pirate ship that can be put on a beach lot, and the ghost captain comes out. It fulfills the desire to see a ghost, and you can make friends with him if you want to, and learn to sing a "sea chantey". That's funny to watch them do. The whole vacation thing is pretty boring though, the tours are stupid and you can't even go along, the sims just leave and come back in a minute and you spend $$ for nothing. But the thing I like best is building my own town with beach properties. If you are a surf lover like me, you'll enjoy this feature very much. The pack also includes grand pianos, hammocks, palm trees, and lots of fun beach clothing and "sea" decorations. Zen gardens and decorations from exotic places in the world are fun too, you can even build a pyramid. You can also have your sims meditate and learn to teleport. And if you enjoy fire dancing, you can do that too. This pack has lots of fun things included with it!
"What this game is about", For those who want to buy this game here are some things about the game.
Their are 3 places for your sims to visit and first i'll start with Twikki Island.
Twikki Island is a big ialand that has about 4 beaches and 2 temples. Your sims can swim in the occean, dig for treasure, look for sea shells, watch the waves, ect. You come with many items like saunas, log rolling, hot springs, massage tables, ect. In twikki island you can learn the fire dance, hula dance, and the hot stone massage. In where you look at your sims memories theirs a suit case. If you click on the suit case you will see forty things you can do while on your vacation. Your sims will also come with long hair with the green leaf necklace thin on your sims head and many new outfits.
Takesumi Village is the second one which is a japanese village. Your sims can learn to teleport like if they have to go to the bathroom and your far away from it your sims just jump in the air the appear in the room. Here you can buy japanese dresses to fit whith the theme. You can learn an achient exersise, and the acupressure massage. You can also sit down and enjoy tea.
Three Lakes is the last one which is a mountain land. In all of the places you can find a secret map. In three lakes you can visit bigfoot. In this place you can learn the slap dance and the deep tissue massage. Theirs an axe range for axe throughing. Lastly I foregot to mention the gestures. In Twikki Island it's hang loose. In Takesumi Village it's a bow. An in Three Lakes it's a chest pound.
Then you leave which is the saddest part. But if you took pictures you can go on the computer and click order photos. Then people will send you a scrap book to show to your friends.
I would recommend this game for sims 2 fans.
"The Sims 2: Bon Voyage by Windows ", I am a Sims 2 fanatic and I love the extras that they have given us on this with letting you take your sims on vacation and collect soveniers and so many other things that you would have to buy it in order to know what I mean.
"A Break From Reality In A Break From Reality?", To begin, I'd like to point out that Bon Voyage, compared to its The Sims 1 predecessor "Vacation" is definitely a superior product in terms of not only its visual elements, but the depth of play and exploration value. However...compared to the rest of The Sims 2 expansion packs, BV ranks as one of the lowest, not only for the extreme technical incompatibilities that still haven't been resolved for a lot of users, but moreso for the fact it doesn't realllly add a lot to the game. Like University, BV feels like an unnecessary departure from the regular time span and flow of the game - since aging is suspended while away. Even the shortest length of vacation you can book (3 days, 2 nights) can feel dragged out.
Again though, there is certainly a lot more to do on vacation this go around. There are three distinct locales to visit (rather than Vacation's freaky alpine/beach/forest combo) - Twikki Island, a tropical paradise, Three Lakes, a mountain camping retreat, and Takemizu Village, a 'Far East' destination. Each locale has a number of hotels and villas to stay at from the low ranking bargain spots (try the free campground in Three Lakes!) to pricy luxury resorts that can cost your Sims upwards of $1,000 a night. Additionally, your wealthier sims can purchase a Vacation Home - be warned though, they're barely furnished! When you arrive at a hotel you get the opportunity to book as many rooms as you like - each room has a different set up and number of beds so your entire family can shack up in one room or take over the entire hotel. The only real unique thing about hotels is you can order room service - at a hefty price. Most hotels offer some sort of additional activity - fishing, musical instruments, hot springs or pools, massage tables, saunas etc. but in general the real action is outside of your hotel.
Each locale offers about 5-7 tourist spots for you to visit, which generally fall under one of the following categories: shopping lot, park, landmark site (see an ancient ruin or a giant temple), activity spot (each locale has a number of activities such as tea ceremonies, ax throwing, or learning a fire dance). This is essentially what should take up your vacation time - but instead of just visiting these places, you're given the challenge/opportunity to pursue "Vacation Memories", a special sub menu of unlockable memories tucked away in the memories panel. Everytime you do a certain action related to the hints on the Vacation Memories page - such as eat a certain local dish, find a hidden map, or participate in a regional activity - the memory is unlocked on your sim's path to being a seasoned traveller. I believe there is a certain reward for completing all tasks - but I haven't gotten there yet!
Aside from the added gameplay from the "Vacation Memories" challenges, there are a lot of neat little features that make the game superior to TS1's Vacation. For one, your sim doesn't just 'forget' their vacation when they return home. They can bring back souvenirs and unlock new interactions such as learning each region's local gesture, dances, and telling their fellow sims about their travels. You also earn vacation benefits for a short period of time after your return, ranging from extra success in the office to adding an extra 'want' slot. Additionally, if you discover each of the secret lots for the locales, you'll probably be coming home with an extra special ability, item, or even a creature.
In general BV surprised me - I was expecting a complete and total Vacation rip-off, and while it retained some of the key elements of Vacation, the Sims team really worked to make this game mean something beyond taking a break from reality (in a game that is truly a break from reality). Be warned - vacations don't come cheap, although if you played the Sims for this long, chances are you've figured out its pretty easy to earn buckets of cash for your Sims, and at least you've got somewhere to burn it now!
Bottom line - although I felt like the game added a lot to the original version of this expansion, I didn't feel like it added a ton to my enjoyment of the everyday game my sims are generally involved in. I'd say this is worth adding to your Sims lineup, but probably isn't a priority for most people.

"Sims fans will continue to enjoy", There are lots of little quirks in this game that make is so fun to play. If you're a sims fan, you'll love it. I haven't even gotten to play everything there is in it yet, and I've had it for a couple months. I highly recommend it, especially if you're dying to get your sims out of town.
"Sims 2 Bon Voyage", If you don't have this ep get it.It lets your sim go on vacations and it also has a lot of cool new objects in it.New objects you can now put at your own home include saunas, waterfalls, tents and even a pirate ship. These are all available on the vacation lots but you can also put them on your on.There are a lot more new objects but I won't list them. There is 3 locations to visit.Tikki Beach is my favorite. You can also visit a mountain retreat and a place in the far east.Your sim can now stay in hotels and or buy a vacation home.New interactions include comb for seashells, watch waves, dig for tresure, build sandcastles and more.Your sim can even swim in the ocean and lay on the beach and get a tan or sunburn.
There is a new camera that gives your sims the choice to take a picture of themselves or themselves and other sims or to ask another sim to take the picture of them. There is many poses your sim can do by themselves and with other sims.Your sim can even kiss or makeout with their lover or spouse and have another sim take a picture of them doing that.Once your off the vacation you order the photos on the pc.You can get them in a book or individually to hang on the wall or put on the table.
Each vacation offers so much to see it's advisable for your sim to book at least 7 days to see it all.Their expensive but this is no problem when you use the motherlode cheat which gives you at least 50,000 dollars everytime you input it.
New to this expansion
You can now have a honeymoon at one of the 3 vacation spots.
You can get married anywhere in the vacation spots and have the wedding of your dream.
New public and private places to wohoo(sims sex). On the campground you can wohoo in tents which counts as a public wohoo. You can wohoo in saunas which counts as private. You can wohoo in hamocks which count as public.
You can take up to 8 people with you.You have the option of reserving one hotel room or several for your guest.Tents on campgrounds are free they don't cost anything.
You can call for roomservice and they will bring you food to your hotel room. Some of the better hotels have swimming pools, hottubs and restuarents and are beachside.
The voodoo doll.If you can fix 3 objects in the witchdoctors house he gives you a voodoo doll. You can use this for curses on other sims or to make them fall in love with you or for freindship.I used this on a sim that didn't like my sim.Her relationship was -1 on the top and I clicked on that sim hit more then do voodoo.I picked romance and instanly she went from -1 to 70 that quick and started making out with my sim.
Teleporting you can do this if you complete some kind of goal with the ninja.I haven't done that yet.
Pirate Ship This is a huge ship and there is a lot to do on it.There is even a ghost that resides on this ship.
Waterfalls.Certain locations have this huge waterfall which you can also put in your own lot.If you add soap to it it chages to lava thou.
Bigfoot In the mountain locations you can see bigfoot or even talk to him.If you complete somekind of goal you can ask him to move in with you at your own home lot.You can then control him you can hug him but can't do any romantic interactions with him.
New hairstyles Women now have 3 new hairstyles and men have a couple and some new facial hair ones too.I really like the new long hair that they give the women. It makes them even prettier.
Jewlery you can now buy it at stores and in create a sim mode you can put it on the sims your creating.
Souvineers there is all kind of souvineers and trinkets you can buy.
Souvineer racks to keep your collectibles on.These are available in buy mode.
New clothes and glasses they actually have new tourist clothes and multicolored sunglasses you can wear.
There is so much more you can do in this game but I want list that as I don't have time. After seasons this is the best expansion pack I've ever played.I also recommend seasons, holiday stuff and sims 2 deluxe with nightlife.
One last thing make sure your pc has at least 512 megs of ram and that's just the minimum it calls for.I would suggest going to 1gb if you have xp.The minimum for Vista is 1gb.I'd suggest 2 or 3.This game takes up a lot of memory and it can lag if you just have the minumum. The specs are higher for this expansion then they was for the previous ones.
"One of the best expansions in the series!", When I first heard about Bon Voyage, I got very nervous, since Vacation is my least favorite expansion from the previous game. And guess what: this one turned out to be my favorite! It's a shame so many people don't see how rich this expansion is.
Bon Voyage offers you three destinations: the tropical island, far east and moutains. What I really like about them is how different from each other they are. The whole architecture, decoration, the local gestures, food and everything are very singular. You can differ each location, and I think that's amazing.
While traveling, your Sims have tasks, called mementos. They are things like eating a characteristic food, learning a local gesture or buying souvenirs. This adds some challenge to the game, since some of them are quite tough. Unfortunately, after completing them, you don't fell like doing it all again.
The replay value is very low, because of the mentioned mementos and the loading screens. Your sims can now walk between lots, but the loading screens are killing and are the negative part of the expansion.
Graphically, Bon Voyage is the same as the previous expansions. The biggest graphical innovation here is the sea. The water is very beautiful and the waves are very charming. You can build a home in beaches and they are very beautiful.
Giving your sims a vacation can also bring many advantages if they have a good time travelling. When they come back home, you can select some of them, and if you use this resource wisely, you can achieve good advances in the sims's careers and relationships.
Bon Voyage is a great expansion, but loading screens and the-so-talked-about bugs and glitches make the playing experience not so good as it could be. But it's still worthy a try!
"Bon Voyage... wish it would", Once again we get a product from EA Games that promises to be fun and interactive, when in fact all it does is provide major bug issues and the means to drive you absolutely out of your mind.
Some Pros: Ability to take a family vacation, able to plan a real honeymoon for your engaged sims to go on straight after they get married, fun new locales to visit, new wants and interactions, a new gaming system of a traveler's bingo where you try and collect as many icons as possible, good vacation rewards upon returning home and the long overdue introduction of sim jewelry.
A Lot of Cons: Can we say "bugs" boys and girls? I knew you could. While the jewelry is a fun new addition it has several issues, like buying it doesn't apply to the whole household as clothing does, but only the purchasing sim and several times when setting up jewelry for different outfits (as you can do the hair after the Seasons expansion) it begins to mess up and not allow you to change things & just becomes complicated. I'd say the biggest con sadly, is the actual expansion itself. The new expansion is very laggy as it's constantly trying to reset stuff when you go to these new locales (of which there is only 3). Another fun bug creates a billion tourist guides and other new NPC's to flood your system lagging it down even further, and in some cases crashing your computer.
When compared to other expansion packs, this one is by far the worst. On top of all the bugs the irksome behaviors your sims will become infected with once going on vacation doesn't make it worth paying for this expansion (anyone whose neighborhoods are now infected with the sea chantey and slap dance know what I'm talking about) at all. Don't be afraid to tell this expansion "Bon Voyage" and save yourself a lot of grief.
"Definitely the weakest of all the expansions.", I didn't like vacations much on Sims 1 and for Bon Voyage it's the same case. It doesn't have as much "replay value" in it as one would want for paying 30 bucks. The best things about it are the following:
*A multitude of new ways to dance (such as hula and slap dance) *The beach locale is pretty cool to look at (the ocean looks really neat!) *The ability to purchase vacation homes at the 3 locations.
However, overall, it's just isn't too exciting. The hotels are very expensive as well and someone who doesn't use cheats would be highly disappointed to have their sim spend that much money and get so little out of it. If you have limited money and can only get one or two expansions, do yourself a favor and pass Bon Voyage up. I highly recommend purchasing Seasons or Open for Business, the best expansions of the franchise!
