If my wife knew how many earphones and headphones I have purchased she probably would think the money would have been better spent on a second home. Earphones are like cars or shoes, etc. they make a lot of different styles for diffenent needs. The bose are a great balance a smooth rich sound with just enough low end. They sound very much like the over the ear phones without the bulk. They don't go in the ear canal so they may tend to fall out with a lot of movement but they are very comfortable and there is far less chance of the hearing loss.

"Bose quality and performance", I have to start by saying that I'm an unabashed Bose fan and have owned many Bose products over the years. I've owned a couple of sets of Bose earbuds and this is the first set that I've been completely satisfied with. Previous versions would not stay in my ears or were uncomfortable.

Bose does listen to feedback and make changes in its products to meet its customers expectations and the earbuds are no exception. This version is not only comfortable and stays in my ears, but produces great sound. I especially like the fact that the earbuds don't go all the way in your ear canals and therefore don't block out all the outside sound. That's particularly good if you're wearing them while exercising.

The quality of the the Bose earbuds is also apparent. They are substantial and heavy duty. The jack is also arranged at a right angle to protect the connection from accidental damage.

These are the best set of earbuds I've owned, better than the Bang & Olufson's. They sound better, too. I got mine at $10 off, making them an even better deal, but even at $99, they're a great deal.

"wonderfully rich sound", After avoiding these headphones for over a year due to all the negative reviews I have read. I finally was given an option to buy a pair at a very good price with the option to return them within 14 days, so I thought, what the heck!

Am I ever glad I did! These plugs offer amazing bass and over all sound quality unlike any earbud I have owned which include low end Metro 200 Ultimate Ear headphones (great midrange and highs, almost no bass) Siennhauser CX300's (low bass and muddy midrange, muted treble) and several others models brands I won't go in to.

So here is my listening profile. I like a lot of older rock, some heavy metal, lots of classical, New Age music, occasional experimental jazz, and Celtic music. I rarely listen to "LOUD" music anymore, preferring music quality to it being loud. I am using these with an Ipod Touch and have set the equalizer to enhance treble as this seems to give just a touch more treble quality without minimizing the bass or midrange.

These Bose earbuds deliver amazing bass at low to upper-mid level volumes and keep the midrange and treble very clear at the same time. They are very warm sounding with a nice sound field as compared to most in ear canal earbuds.

They are so comfortable you can hardly tell you are wearing them and they offer a good balance between noise isolation and not getting run over by a car because you can't hear anything. The lanyard and clip they come with to help manage the cables are excellent. The ear covering seems well designed and does not look like it will be falling off anytime soon.

If you like clear beautiful sound that beats the pants off the phones that come with your IPOD and want a comfortable earbud designed to fit without hurting, then these buds are perfect. Having said all that I do believe they are worth $90-100 but anything more than that they may be over priced.

"No highs, No Lows, they must be Bose", I found the same issues with the Bose earbuds that everyone else is complaining about. The sound quality is marginal. I'd go with the Etymotic ER-4's...far superior (I have no affiliation with them but have enjoyed their earbuds for several years). YMMV

"Great Bass and with a little treble bost- they're even better.", It is funny how CNET reviewers complain how these phones lack treble. The truth is bass is very hard to add using an equalizer - the sound tends to get muddy, but treble is easily added and then these phones sound superb. Actually, you really do not notice the slight loss of treble - the imaging and bass are so good, but after a while you feel that the symbols should shimmer a littler stronger. Comparing the sound to higher quality speakers, this conclusion seems correct. I was amazed at how easily this minor deficiency was corrected.
In Itunes, find the equalizer and then set treble boost. Sync with your ipod and then make sure that the IPODS own equalizer is OFF (NOT FLAT). This will allow the equalization settings from ITUNES to take affect,

"Worth it", They are almost $100 but they are worth it. The sound is very good, including deep bass. They are comfortable and don't fit in your ear canal, which I have got to believe is bettr for your ears as well as much more comfortable. If you use them for running, they are far better than others that fit into your ear canal.

I had the "old" version for two years of very consistent use, almost every day, before they fell apart. This newer version is supposed to be constructed even better.

You can find all kinds of alternate designs with good reviews at better price points ... but if you are looking for quality, going Bose is good. I got a pair of $50 earbuds that got rave reviews on CNET and they pale in comparison. I can't wait to get a new pair of Bose in ear headphones and get back to my old self again!
