Others say...
"Fantastic soundtrack" I bought the cassette years ago. I wore the casette out from playing it again and again. It's a great soundtrack, particularly good for running to.
"more than meets the ear" I grabbed this after I got a copy of the 20th anniversary edition dvd. I had the original soundtrack on tape and I figured it was time for an upgrade. I am very glad with my decision. Fans of the original movie and soundtrack will be pleasantly surprised with this new edition. It comes complete with a remastering of all 10 original tracks PLUS 4 bonus tracks. Three of which are more scores from Mr. Vince Dicola, including the Unicron theme. If you're looking for a trip down nostalgic lane, check this out.
"A Childhood Quest Complete" For anyone who loved the uber cheesey 80s rock feel of the good movie, this is the soundtrack for you. This one has 4 additional tracks including a remix of the Transformers theme. I can still see all of the scenes play out in my head when I hear the music.
"Killer Melodic Rock/AOR Soundtrack" There is some classic Melodic Rock Material on this CD. Lion (who do the theme song) is one of the unsung, underrated bands of the late 80s, and Stan Bush is a Luminary in the AOR Scene.
I Have no idea how this type of music fits in with Tranformers Toys - and i've never seen the movie - but this stuff is KILLER if you are fan of this type of music.
"Vince Dicola is a remarkable composer" There is some fantastic material on this CD, and certainly not enough. I loved the material that Vince Dicola wrote not only for this film, but for Rocky 4. It's a shame there isn't more of his material for these two iconic 80's gems available.
Vince Dicola's score fit this motion picture perfectly, and I can't think of a better sound to fit the fluid, colorful animation of this film. the bonus tracks are a definite plus, but there is so much more music that could have been added here.

What our customer's say!
"20 years and still growing stronger!", Originally released by the now-defunct Scotti Brothers Records label, one of its biggest turnouts was Transformers the Movie, soundtrack to the 1986 animated movie of the same name.
Driven by its pulse-pounding, guitar-riffin' rock, it funny that 20 years after being released (and rereleased over and over), it still gets some play in my ride!
With an way better overhaul of the album cover art and credit sheet, it still features original 1980's rock icons Lion ("The Transformers Theme"), Stan Bush ("The Touch" and "Dare"), NRG ("Instruments of Destruction"), Spectre General ("Nothin's Gonna Stand In Our Way" and "Hunger"), funnyman "Weird" Al Yankovic ("Dare to Be Stupid") and Vince DiCola's rivetting score pieces ("Death of Optimus Prime", "Escape", "Autobot/Decepticon Attack", "Unicron Medley", "Moon Base 2" and "Megatron Must Be Stopped (Parts I & II)". This newer release also features the collabo of Stan Bush and Vince DiCola with the alternate version of "The Transformers Theme".
The only complaint that I have is that Volcano and Legacy Recordings should have asked Vince DiCola to add at least two more score pieces. What score pieces is left to the listener's imagination.
Overall, the soundtrack still rocks! Digitally remastered to perfection for the 21st century. The movie itself received an upgrade in conjunction with the forthcoming live-action movie (and it being 20 years old).
It's still "more than meets the eye"!
"It's okay.", You got the touch. You got the power. When all Hell's breaking loose, you'll be riding the eye of the storm.
If you don't own "The Touch," you're a societal leper. The only cure is this soundtrack. No, no; not even another CD with Stan Bush's master opus can cure what ails you. Buy this or you'll never be loved by anyone else ever again, ever.
The other thirteen tracks are pretty solid as well, including Unicron's long neglected theme, White Lion's opening track, and the alternate, bizarre "Transformer's Theme" that closes the CD.
Highly recommended for everyone who likes music and wants to be loved at some point in the future.
"best sound track ever!", I really love these songs although i admit i'm biased and when i hear them i see certain scenes of the movie in my head, but still if you're a transformers fan, this is a no brainer! I was 5 when i originally saw this movie and since then have seen it at least a dozen or so time more... way better than todays anime.
"TRANSFORMERS ROCK!", Quite simply one of the Greatest Animated Films Ever! This new 'expanded' version of the previously released soundtrack has some great new tracks including 'Unicron's Theme'- I've ALWAYS wanted this! A recommended buy for fans of the Robots in Disguise.
"My Favorite Soundtrack!!!!", Transformers The Movie (1986) is one of my all-time favorite movies and I wasted little time securing a copy of the soundtrack on LP shortly after the movie was released back in 1986. As the movie remained unavailable for purchase or even rental for several years, listening to the soundtrack was pretty much my only reminder of/link to the movie I loved and it was one of my most treasured albums and one of my best friends surprised me by getting me a copy of the CD reissue of the soundtrack a few years later for one of my birthdays. The original release, which contained all of the vocal tracks and some of the instrumental tracks composed by Vince DiCola (Rocky IV) from the movie, was always enjoyable to listen to but the soundtrack nevertheless seemed somewhat limited when considering the size and scope of the magnificent instrumental score that Mr. DiCola composed for the movie (especially after having an opportunity to watch the movie again) but, given that it was the only commercially available version of the soundtrack available until last year I accepted its limitations and managed to enjoy it as it was. I was very pleased to accidentally discover via iTunes last year that the soundtrack had been re-released containing some additional instrumental tracks from Mr. DiCola's score. Unfortunately, the instrumental tracks included on the re-release were still not as comprehensive as I had hoped for but it did fill in some of the gaps left by the previous release and the soundtrack now includes nearly all of the instrumental music featured during the first 30 minutes of the movie including a collection of music from scenes featuring Unicron ("Unicron Medley"), the post-credits Autobot moon base/shuttle launch sequence ("Moon Base 2 Shuttle Launch"), and the second half of the Autobot City Battle containing the conclusion of Prime's battle with Megatron and the Decepticon's subsequent retreat ("Megatron Must Be Stopped Parts 1 & 2"). As an added bonus, the re-release also has an alternate version of the Transformers theme composed by Vince DiCola with vocals performed by Stan Bush, who had previously contributed the soundtrack's standout tracks, "The Touch" and "Dare". Despite its limitations, I continue to frequently listen to it and it is probably one of my most-played albums with the possible exception of John William's collection of music composed for the "Star Wars" movies. My only hope is that we will eventually get a commercially available release of Vince DiCola's entire instrumental score for the movie. My understanding is that full-length recordings of the score were actually released (albeit in limited quantities) at the 1997 & 2001 Bot-Con conventions but they have since become discontinued/out-of-print. Based on personal correspondence with Mr. DiCola, it appears that even he himself is unsure of the prospects of a future commercial release of his entire instrumental score for the movie. In the meantime, however, I am continuing to enjoy what I consider to be an amazing soundtrack to an amazing movie! The 2007 release is highly recommended to fans of the movie and the G1 Transformers series in general.

"Great Gift", I purchased this for my husband after crushing his original CD and being back listed for another one. He liked this one even more than the original! The additional tracks are great and I'm really glad I bought it for him.
"The Greatest CartoonMovie Ever Made in the 80s'", Growing up with the Transformers is a very unbelieavable experience, with lots of action, great acting playing their roles making every single detail a real life experience forecasting the future with a masterpiece of art work and the music bringing a cartoon to real life.
"Nothing's Gonna Stand In Its Way", We want it all and this soundtrack delivers it. 20 years after the films initial threatrical release we finally have more Vince DiCola to enjoy as well as pristinely remastered original tracks. No question that this is the definitive edition of this classic soundtrack. Any fan of the animated movie (or 80's hair bands) needs to own this.
"Beyond Awesome!", I never thought I would get a hold of the original soundtrack, since the new movie's come out this must've been part of the promo package. Anyway, this is something you really don't want to miss out on - otherwise twenty years down the line you'll be wishing you'd bought it. My favourites are Stan Bush's "The Touch" & "Dare" but otherwise the entire album's excellent, love the additional soundtracks as well!
"A Remake of an iconic 80's soundtrack that is destined to become a classic ", After listening to this inspiring soundtrack several times and comparing it to the new CD that follows the live action blockbuster movie of the summer, I have to say that the 20th anniversary edition CD of "Transformers the movie" is definitely ten times better than the recent live action soundtrack, which has a much more heavy metal combination of rock bands that for the most part make you want to lower the volume. That is except for the song "Hold ON before it's too late" by the Goo Goo dolls. This soundtrack however, which includes the song talents of artists such as, Stan Bush and extremely gifted music composer Vince Dicola conspires to create an album that is over and above better than all the rest. Songs like "Dare" and "Touch" by stan Bush are both uplifting and come with a good clean message. Vince Dicola's awesome futuristic score on the other hand, is what sold this CD for me. Themes like Unicron and Moon Base 2 are some of my personal favorite tracks. With the use of synthesizers and a combination of 80's pop music in the mix, the score fits the film's theme like a well oiled machine. It's too bad that Vince Dicola didn't get an award for best film score or wasn't asked to compose the live action film; his work with this score is amazing! If you haven't listened to this soundtrack yet you definitely need to get it, when you do you'll be in for a real treat and for someone who grew up in the 80's and knows something about the music, this CD will remind you of a different time when music was clean, fun to listen to and came with a message that young people could easily relate to growing up. 10 out of 10 for this soundtrack you'll enjoy every minute of it.
