"Great game! Great Value!" Resident Evil 4 is the best game I have played on the Wii besides Wii Sports! Definitely, well worth the $20! The story line is fun & very engaging. I have read some reviews that say it is vulgar, but I didn't think so. In fact, some of the cursing (which I haven't noticed much) is well-placed. Obviously this is a shooting game and it is violent.
I would highly recommend purchasing/using Wii Zapper to play this game. I purchased both the Zapper and the Nyko Perfect Shot. I tried using the Perfect Shot first, but it does not work with the game controls. In order to shoot in Resident Evil, you have to hold B (to aim) and then press A (to shoot). It is nearly impossible with the Perfect Shot because the trigger (which activates the B button) is too far from the A button, thus you would have to use 2 hands (awkward)! Accordingly, I have been using the Wii Zapper which is exceptionally designed (and comes with Link's Crossbow Training, which is fun).
Overall, if you are looking for a fun shooting game for the Wii then you should purchase Resident Evil 4!
"amazon reviews" This game is awesome in every way, using the wii remote makes it easier to play than on the other consoles.
"LOVE IT" I love this game. I just can't get enough of it. I played through one time and am now going again on the bonus round.
"OK Game - Does not work with light gun." I bought this game with the Perfect Shot. They do not work together. The graphics are pretty grainy and I think the controls are akward. But this is true for all Resident Evil games. If you like previous RE games, you'll like this one.
Picked it up for $9.99 near Black Friday 2008
"Not zapper compatible" This game was excellent when it originally came out on the Gamecube. I loved it. It is still very good on the Wii.
My problem is this; Why re-release a game, soley because of the Wii's wireless aiming capabilities (well not solely, I'm sure it was the money too), and then completely ignor the fact that the WiiMote has a trigger on the bottom of it. This game could be so much better, if the option for changing your controls existed, or if the re-designers just used some common sense (duh, pull trigger to shoot, not pull trigger to aim). Had they just done that, the game would be worth playing again.
If you've already played it on the GC, it isn't worth another go. Nothing was changed for the better.
If you haven't played it, I'd suggest it, but I'd get the GC version, or just connect a classic controller to your WiiMote to play it with some original controls.

What our customer's say!
"Don't Bother", I ordered this game for only $9.99 on Amazon before Christmas. I figured that it would at least be worth that. I was wrong. I played it for a bit but could not get past the horrible control scheme for the Wii and the extremely claustrophobic camera view. It would have been much better in my opinion with a scalable camera or at least some different camera view options. I've read some of the reviews here and most seem to have really liked the game so I guess I'm in the minority here. The controls and view were enough to make me return it since I would almost surely never play it again.
"Terrible", It's too time consuming and takes too much time between scenes to actually do something/shoot. Didn't like it at all, I wish I could get a refund. I liked House of the Dead 2 & 3 better!
"Very unsettling", RE4 trades in the horror element for shear terror, and it's great. Freaks chasing you with torches, jumping in windows, climbing up ladders to get you. Just like my childhood in rural Spain. Playing with the Wii remote and nunchuk give it a great interactive feel. Totally worth it.
"Difficult, but lots of fun", As with all of the Resident Evil games, ammo and health are sometimes scarce. And your missions usually lead you far, far away from the actual goal in order to find a key for a locked door. But the game is extremely fun to play. The controls on the Wii take FPS games to a whole new level. Gives it sort of a House Of The Dead light gun arcade feel. Great game. Just requires some patience and you'll have a blast.
"Enhanced Control Still Has Room for Improvement", When Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005 it absolutely blew me away. The game was and still is spectacular. On the GameCube it was a showcase for the processing power of the system, on the Wii the graphics look rather muddy and dated which is why players shouldn't pay more than the bargain price of twenty dollars for this game. When RE4 was initially released my only issue with the game was that it wasn't scary. Rather than dwell on the various merits or deficiencies of the game I decided to focus on just one aspect which is surely the biggest enhancement for the Wii version, that being control.
Anyone who has played first person shooters on both game consoles and PC's knows that the PC is the undisputed king. The mouse/keyboard combination has never been equaled by any game controller. It's been a few years since I played Resident Evil 4 on my GameCube but my initial reaction was that the Wii remote was a sizable improvement. The Wii remote feels much more precise and intuitive than the GC controller but it still falls short of the mouse/keyboard combination. When you want to fire your weapon you need to hold the B button and press A. The problem is that when B is held your character is immobilized. The nunchuck controller switches from controlling your body motion to controlling the pivoting of your torso. You can turn in any direction for firing including up down, left and right but your feet are cemented to the ground so no running and gunning. Ironically even with both hands controlling the targeting reticule I still found myself getting occasionally tied up. The other problem is that you can't move sideways regardless of whether B is held down so no strafing or peeking into a room to check for enemies. These are not just subtle deficiencies.
The advantage that the PC has is that a characters foot movement is controlled by the keyboard whereas the direction and speed are controlled using the mouse. This ties the direction and the weapon reticule since they're operated simultaneously but that's ok. The Wii remote separates the reticule and the motion but when you target something you lose the advantage of the separation so there is no net gain. If Capcom had controlled the characters direction using the Wii remote rather than the nunchuck it may have worked better although I doubt it would have been as intuitive. I would also wonder if Capcom could have had characters turn based on the location of the reticule rather than using the nunchuck. In other words the players view would have turned to the right as the reticule moved to the right. Whether Capcoms solution is the best or not is debatable but what is hardly debatable is that there is still room for improvement.
I'm a little behind the times on the Wii and just got one this past Christmas so this is the only first person shooter I've played. I'll have to see if EA or Activision managed to do a better job with controls.

"A Great Game", A very great game I would recommend anyone to get this game. One of the best games you can play on wii if not the best I have played. You can't go wrong with this game
"Awesome game even several years later", I just grabbed this for rental in a video store, having never played Resident Evil before. I had also never played a shooter on my new Wii. Wow, what a great find. Now I worry I've been spoiled!
The graphics are top-notch. Lots of depth, no NPCs suddenly appearing in the distance. The running and action animations are very smooth. The sound is great, both the music and the sound cues around you. The plot is a little convoluted, and some of the voice acting and cut-scene animations are unintentionally funny (characters surrounded by dismembered mutant/zombies who have been injected with alien eggs talk in normal voices like they are sitting at Starbucks having a coffee). But who cares, right? The point is to blast your way through any obstacle to accomplish your goal!
I loved the way the Wii controls mesh with this game. Sure, there are a couple of spots where the designers screw with you, launching an ambush that gives you one second to shake the remote or press A & B, and then you die. But they have the good manners to only do that right after an automatic save point (going through a door), so you just reload and position your hands correctly. Otherwise, I love the intuitive way you aim the guns. Where you hit the targets has a big effect. After a while, you WANT to hit targets in the legs, not the chest or head, but I won't ruin the surprise with why. Other times, you want to hit them in the arm so they spin and fall off a wall or whatever. The sniper rifle really bobs and weaves when you are trying to aim - annoying, but realistic. And if that doesn't give you a bit of an adrenaline boost when you are trying to kill an Iron Maiden in a tight hallway, nothing will!
The variety of weapons and their upgrades leads to a nice bit of choosing how you want to play the game; you want be able to have everything and upgrade everything. There are lots of little extras that require some exploration, but aren't needed. A few puzzles, pretty simple after a few minutes. More puzzling is how to deal with certain creatures, because they are trying to kill you while you experiment!
Finishing the game in Normal mode leads to unlocking a whole bunch of extras. The most interesting was Ada's missions, which I am not sure were in the non-Wii versions. It's like replaying the main game, but from a different person's point of view who was in the shadows. Neat concept. There are some extra missions, dealing with various villains, and you can unlock some extra weapons with shooting galleries which are challenging to say the least (for shotgun or sniper rifle).
Finally, this is an adult game, all the way. Lots of blood, gore, dismemberment, slimy mutant animals, aliens, cruelty, etc. No nudity or sex, alas! But this will definitely give a few weeks or more of heart-pounding fun!
"Thoroughly Entertaining ", Wow! My Fiancee can't stop playing this game. Graphics are great, game is ADDICTING, truly a terrifying and awesome experience. Only gripe is that you can accidentally shoot Ashley (the person you are trying to save) and that it's just a one player game. I would say this is much more difficult than the Umbrella Chronicles (2 player co-op) which he and I have enjoyed playing together. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. Great, challenging game that will keep you busy for awhile!!!!
"Great game for the Wii", One of the best games I've ever played. The storyline and the controls for this game are great. Very enjoyable to play. I would recommend to anyone who can take violence in a video game.
"Fun. Fun and more fun.", This is the most fun I have ever had playing a video game. The graphics are fantastically detailed--genius. The zombies and various "monsters" give you a heart pounding thrill. Good story line too. I found the controls very easy to master. I have played through this game a couple of times already. The second time around was just as exciting at the first time (although easier because you get to keep your weapons.) I am playing on the "pro" level now which is only slightly more difficult in spots. RE4 is not only a masterfully brilliant FPS, but tons of fun to play.
