"A terrible printer", I have been using HP printers so long I can't remember my first purchase. This printer is nothing more than a piece of junk. HP should be ashamed to be selling this flimsy trash.

"speedy printer, makes crisp documents", I've gone through several printers in the last few years. I've experienced awful copies, ink that runs out constantly (at $25 or so a pop) or just printers that decide not to work. This one is different. It makes beautiful copies. I don't use it for photos, usually, but both color and b/w pages print clearly every time. The ink has lasted me several months now. This printer is faster than any I've owned. And the design is very nice. It holds up to 80 sheets of paper. It has a low profile that fits easily on our narrow shelves. Lastly, refill ink cartridges are fairly reasonable, with b/w below $15 and color below $20. I'm very glad I purchased this printer, I finally have one I can rely on.

"Great printer. The ink is bright and lasts a lot.", I printed 2700 or more pages with the original ink. In fast draft setting. Color!

Still the colors looked great, even as the pages were rush printed.
I then took the cartridges to walgreens to refill, and the ink sucked big time. so, if you run out of ink, just don't refill at walgreens.

"Great machine if you only want to print", I purchased this printer in April, and it is now October, so I believe that is ample time to provide an accurate review. With that being said, if you need a printer, not all of the photo printing, fax, scanning, etc stuff that most printers come with this is your printer. As stated by others, this printer doesn't come with a black cartridge, or a printer cable. The printer cable shouldn't be an issue for most. If you've previously owned a printer you should already have this. If not, order one online for about $5(including shipping, just look around) and you'll be set. I've never used an HP cartridge in this printer, well except the color cartridge it came with, which is still loaded, and this printer prints fine. I print almost on a daily basis between shipping labels and coupons and this printer has held up. I really can't say anything bad about this printer as it was what I expected and does the job properly.

"WARNING! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE", I was planning to buy this printer from Amazon for 45 dollars. All good and well. The supplier was Skybox USA.

But then, one week later, after I added it to my cart, lo and behold, it wouldn't move from my "saved items" to my actual shopping cart.

So naturally, I come back to this page, only to discover... Skybox has been replaced by this insidious "Toyzz" supplier, and the price doubled to 92 dollars, plus shipping! What is this? So I did some more searching, to find other sites sold this for... $30-$45 dollars!!! What kind of outrageous company would dare replace another supplier.. and then double the price?

Do not buy from this "Toyzz" supplier!

"Great little printer", great little printer, works great for the price. I didn't want anything big and expensive, this was a good choice, recommend it for people in a small office that need something small but effective.

"Software in Vista, and HP support, is exasperating", I got this printer today, and wanted to share the funny debacle that followed software installation of it on Vista (but believe me, it wasn't funny while it was going on during an intense paper-due-tomorrow crunch).

Firstly, I unchecked installation of all software components I did NOT want clogging up my computer. Apparently I should have been more careful - for every. single. tab. I tried to open in Explorer after the software was in place, Windows Security Shield popped up a message that HP was trying to open its web imaging software. Casual browsing became this huge nuisance, and you guessed it, HP does not let you disable the web printing service once you've installed it.

At this point I'm stressed to my bones and figure I should try and ask their online chat "technician" whether there is any humanly possible way to deactivate the web-print service that is causing the annoying security messages (in Vista, it keeps popping up even if you choose to "disallow" and for the program to be remembered). I am assuredly told that "we shall deal with this issue together".

This technician of genius then proceeds to tell me I need to RESET THE START PAGE of my browser. I go, what, how's this supposed to help me? I won't do that, it makes no sense. She then sagely advises me to TURN ON THE POP-UP BLOCKER - I specified twice that the pop-ups had nothing to do with the browser, but with the Security Shield being bugged by HP's web-print service wanting to get access to my browser.

Fortunately her insistence I do ridiculous tweaks with my browser rather than fix the friggin HP software settings reminded me I could disallow HP as an add-on (go to "manage add-ons" in your browser options). Three hours later, I get a "follow-up" e-mail where this same support person tells me to turn off my phishing filter (jesus christ, I definitely will NOT)... sigh.

One hour after that, the software starts telling me there is no color cartridge (there is, and I re-install it and re-start the printer). Problem is, it apparently wants to do this everytime I unplug the printer from my laptop and open the laptop again... and the pop-ups return with 6-second intervals. Great job making this printer Vista-compatible, you guys.

I'm returning this printer as soon as my paper is done. I'm sure it's very nice printing quality, I just can't deal with the way HP tries to take over my computer and ends up leaving it a mess -- and man, if this is what support is like over a directly HP-related issue, I DON'T want to know what they'd do with a more complex problem.

"Excellent", I needed a printer for my home use, and this is just what I was looking for.
Had to purchase some things that I expected to be included but were not.
Otherwise I am satisfied.

"HP Deskjet D2430 Printer", Fast Delivery. Good product for the price. It does printing and pix very well. It will eat up ink fast (since the cartridges are small)unless you use the "fast" or "draft" settings. Also, it's a tad on the noisey side.
