"Madden 08", I think EA had some problems making Madden 08 on ps3 because I don't feel that I am in the game. I will suggest you guys Madden 09 because it has better graphics and that game can compete with Xbox 360 version.

"Updated Rosters", Basically this game is a roster update. It is a bit better than '07 but had flaws galore!

"ea not getting any better!", This game is garbage I had high hopes for the Ps3 but it still looks real bad. The sidelines look corny, the players look alike, you can barely hear the announcing , its like static radio play by play or something. EA sports just doesnt get it. The crowd is color cordinated whats that all about this isn't queer eye makeover. I want better graphics like 1080 i should look like I want the players to actually look like there running instead of jogging. Plus whats with the quarterback tiptoing backword make him run out of the pocket not do the moon walk out of the pocket. EA should be sued for even releasing this. Trust me Don't buy it wait till madden 2020 cause thats when they will probably get it right!!!

"Madden Online Gamer.....", I love Madden, well in better terms, I'm obsessed with it. I've been playing Madden for over ten years, starting with the PS1 and right on through until PS2!

This new PS3 version stinks!!!

The graphics were amazing, the gameplay was garbage. The players moved stiffly and the passing wasn't smooth.

Madden is an artform, hopefully with the new Madden '09 coming out in August, they will have the bugs worked out and they arent releasing the new game on PS2, so I'll be forced to upgrade to the PS3!

Disappointed, but still playing Madden '08 on the PS2 online! Bring it on!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"A step forward...a step backward", I've been a Madden NFL fan for years. Because of budget constraints, I typically purchased a new version every other year. This year I got a new Play Station 3 for Christmas and I decided the first game I'd buy for it would be the new Madden NFL 2008.

I got the game home and started it up right away. First off, the menu is not as user friendly as it used to be. But, I managed to get through it and started my own Franchise which I have done with all the Madden games since they started the Franchis option. When I get to the game I find it's not easy to make substitutions. You can't have different players in for different plays, you have to go back and edit your depth chart. So, right away, it's not like a real Franchise option.

The key this year to Madden 08 is the graphics. Gone is Tony Bruno's boring monologues and stupid interviews. The focus is on the graphics. The stadiums look AMAZING! The players look great -- though you have few player faces, so all the players kind of look alike. They changed the juke move from the R2/L2 button to the right analog stick. So, when I'm running down field and I go to juke I accidently pitch the ball! Yes, the L2 button is now for pitching the ball and the L1 is for a fake pitch. Getting used to the new controller took me a lot of time. To be honest, I wasn't happy and am still not that crazy about it. Also, the R2 button is now for a "speed burst", but I barely notice any change when I'm pushing the R2 and when I'm not. Using the right analog stick for jukes and "trucking" through the defense has taken some getting used to, but I'm getting better at it.

Now, you also have more controls over your offensive linemen, you can pancake defenders or cut them at the knees using the right analog stick. However, for defenders - primarily D-Linemen - you can't do the swim move or power the o-line like you used to. Now you have d linemen who are "finesse" players or are "power" players and you use the L1/L2 button accordingly, but overall, it doesn't seem to work well. Also, you can't indepently blitz a cornerback or a safety like you used to. Blitzing the linebackers independtly took a little work, but I finally figured it out.

One final complaint, is I've got a strong offensive line with the exception of my right tackle who's about a 78 overall and is supposed to be a strong pass blocker. However, my QB gets sacked over and over again. Even my best Tackle or Guard gets blown over by the d-line and my QB gets sacked. This seems like a HUGE game flaw to me.

Overall, I love the graphics, but think they could do more to expand the players faces. I think the substitution of players would make me enjoy this a lot more. Also, I think that audibles should be easier to set up and you can't change your profile once you've started your franchise. It defaults to the original profile all the time.

I think the guys at EA sports have put a good, progressive product that shows they're not resting on their laurels. However, I think that they need to make the game as realistic as possible and make it more enjoyable for the average gamer to the most advanced player. At times this game is too complicated and pulls away from the action to keep me going with it. I get frustrated with all the breaks in the action. I'm going to wait and see what they do with Madden 09 before I go and buy it. As it is, I wish I had waited for the 09 version instead of rushing out to buy this one.

"Needs much more work EA!! ", Please don't sit back and just get comfortable with your history of dominating the Football gaming world. First off - 720p...what's that about - why isn't it 1080i/p yet?
I consider myself a different type of gamer...I play about 4 game titles a year and that's it but I play the crap out of those 4 games. My favorite is my Madden and a few other EA sports games and that's all I can fit into my video gaming bag. The last two years I've enjoyed the College Football games much more than the Madden titles. It has nothing a little to do with gameplay but mostly it has to do with longevity...or maybe a new word - gaming elasticity. How long do I play before I'm bored. The college football game has the recruiting piece that adds so much to the dynasty mode and it lets you turnover your roster and discover new players and ways to play with your team. The scouting & draft, coaching changes and free agent period in the Madden games is supposed to provide that same change of pace but those features are so under produced it's not even funny. I'm not really even sure I understand why there is "scouting" during the season b/c I don't feel that I get anything out of it. The Coaching change screen seems like it's missing something - why can't I sort out head coach vs. special teams guys etc - the way you could in the past by their ratings on different things. What happened to spring training where I could improve my guys before the season - now there is some weird antiquated practice/training option before each game - no offense but those mini-games aren't that fun and doing it ONE time per season all at once is plenty for me. One other big confusing thing for me is the uniform choice screen - why can't I see what uniform I'm choosing and which one I'm playing against until I get into the game. For instance I choose the cowboys history uni and then I get in the game and see that the other team is wearing white too...how does that work...that seems like something that would get fixed in edit?
The Gameplay isn't all bad but a bit frustrating in many areas but mainly turnovers. I love the majority of the running game play but my running back fumbles at least 3 times a game - when is that realistic? The passing...well I'm still working on that one...I know part of the problems there is me - well that and the fact that linebackers apparently all have 3-4 foot verticals to snatch balls out of the air.
I'm just pleading that it gets better ever year...I realize it's a new console but Madden has always been the absolute best game out there for so long and these last two years it's fallen way short. Let's get back on top EA.

"Not worth buying", Probably one of the worst Madden I have play. This game is too interception friendly, CB would do near impossible 360 turn to intercept the ball at full speed. I hate how a defense linemen can jump 10ft in the air to intercept your ball. They took away the run, defense linemen can run faster than your RB. They can tackle you from 2 feet away. No point of throwing a deep ball, your WR's AI is too dumb to catch it. Someone get injured almost every play and the challenge play is a joke, they gave you the worst camera angle possible. Graphic are not even Ps3 quality. Don't waste your money on this game.

"Madden 08 PS3", Game is a piece of bug-filled garbage, Rushed to market without testing and has frustrated me like no other video game in my life on any console.
Its not just the PS3 version, It appears to have many problems on any system.
If you want to waste money then buy this game.


"Not a good use of technology!", I've played Madden 08 on PS3 & PS2, and I have to say with out a doubt the PS2 is better. The PS2 game play feels more real, it's easier to change to a different player during the pre-snap, the menues are easier to navigate, etc.
I can't believe I spent $400 on a PS3 and wish I had my PS2 back.
Obviously the PS3 is still new and Madden will eventually get better on this playform, but at least put out a product better than the PS2.
