Others say...
"Dreadful banking system" I love Monopoly but the automated banking system absolutely kills this game. Without the physical cash, someone gets lumped with having to be banker (playing with the device all the time) and you have no concept how much money you have. Bring back the cash version!
"Banking is a Drudge" Just played this game last night with the in-laws. They're great -- the game isn't. Every player gets a "debit" card to use instead of the paper money used in the original game. It sounds like a great idea. But reality quickly gets in the way. The modified banking system not only slows down game play, but it leads to less player interaction.
In addition, unless individual plays keep mental note of how much is left on their card, they must go back to the banker to see how much the card has left.
Overall, the electronic banking was a detraction rather than an enhancement.Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition
"Big Disappointment" This version of monopoly is not for the traditionalist. The "electronic banking" really makes the game a bust. All of the fun of interacting with each player and exchanging money is gone. It is also hard to keep track of how much money player have - I personally missed my piles of money in front of me. The game also looses its educational value because you do not have to count money. The age range of the players was 23 -44 and we all preferred the original version of the game. I would only recommend for someone under 20 who has never played the original version. I also missed the original property names.
"Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition" My old monopoly game board was falling apart. The grandkids wanted to sit up all night and play monopoly, so what was a Grandma to do?
I loaded them up and headed to Walmart. I could not find the original version, so I found this one. I took it home, opened it up, and was quite impressed. There are more pieces with this. I was a man squatting, which to me, looks like he is trying to do something else.
But...the grandkids beat me. I let them be the banker, however, I think they cheated. With the electronic banking device, you stick your credit card in, loaded with money, and it takes away when you buy. If someone owes you money, you stick your card and their card in, and then you get the money loaded to your card. It's quite simple. I do miss the fake money. It's more bragging rights if you have a lot of money sticking out from under the board, on your side of the table. But...things are changing and you have to go with the flow.
"Love the new style" I have played on the computer so hated the idea of all that loose money and needing to add it all, etc. This takes care of all that. There are a few rules on the computer that are not for this one but I add them just fine. All tax, etc. goes into free parking (use a pad and pen to keep track of that), if you get a roll that puts you right on go..you get double. (4 mil instead of 2 mil) but just add the extra 2mil with the card. Would like more choices for marker/tokens but other then that, I find no fault with it.

What our customer's say!
"Extreme fun in a board game", THis game is fun as can be, as 5 adults sat on New YEars Day playing. The electronic banking made it that much more fun. Thanks
"Excellent Toy", We purchased this for our Partner's In Education school thru where I work and according to the teacher, the kids LOVE it. It was exactly as described and it works wonderfully.
"New Electronic Monopoly Game", The electronic Monopoly game puts a new spin on an old favorite. Great family fun!
"Great Improvement to Monopoly, but needs some fixing", We played this game over the Holidays and I intend to buy it after trying it. I liked the updating of properties and new prices, but others might not. Elimination of paper money is a Godsend, I always felt it slowed the game down.
But it does create other problems. First off the glitches, we had some reoccurring problems with cards not getting recognized, or card #3 being recognized as card #2, which created major confusion of trying to give the right people back their money.
Then there is human error. The cards look very similar. It's easy to put the wrong card in, or put them on the wrong side of the debit/credit direction. Also "paying each player $X" is a huge hassle, as you have to grab each card and enter the amount in one at a time, careful not to mess up. Banker has to pay very, very close attention. I advise to have someone supervising the banker.
We sort of chose to announce each time we ran a card through what the remaining balance was to everyone. In the old game people liked to hide their money, if you choose this, it gives the banker an unfair advantage as he/she will know what everyone has.
The speed of the game increases, which is a huge plus, BUT, as the banker you find other players not realizing how long it takes to process a transaction, and they will get ahead of themselves, stacking multiple transactions before you know it. You will have to constantly tell players to stop and wait for you to transfer money.
The traditional collecting of taxes and fines on "Free Parking" is now impossible to implement. Which is a big bummer, cause that used to a be a life saver. Now instead you have to come up with your own preset amount you get for landing on the space.
I agree some of the educational value of adding up money is lost. But there is some new value added in the electronic input of numbers. You have to pay very close attention, and as I send there is a real possibility of human error with adults, much less children.
It's petty, but I wasn't crazy about the token choices. The space shuttle, HD TV, and baseball cap are fine. But a Segway? A box of Altoids? A mini dog in a purse? Who wants to be one of these? I know its not easy coming up with "sign of the times" type icons, but these are lame, and trendy not classic. (yes Segway is a tech item, I know)
Overall a good/great improvement. But the issues above need solutions.
The big bonus: clean up took 15 seconds, which is a nice change!
"Excellent update to an old classic", This version of monopoly proved itself worthy. The properties are modern landmarks, which I like. There are airports instead of railroads. Internet service providers instead of utilities. Credit cards instead of monopoly cash.
The prices are probably more realistic with properties costing millions. But, I didnt find this added much to the game and actually preferred the old prices as it kept things simpler mathematically.
The banking computer really speeds up the game. But I think the little banking computer could be improved further as it frequently seemed like it took an excessively long amount of time to finish "beeping" when subtracting money from my account and adding it on another players.
The strategy to the game remains the same. So if you liked the old monopoly, you will probably like the new one too. The main differences are the updated landmarks, the banking computer which does away with the paper monopoly cash, and the higher prices. The best improvement is the banking computer, which speeds up the game substantially. It is still a longer board game though. So be prepared to spend an entire evening playing, if you've never played before.
For you parents, would I recommend this over an X-box game or a Wii game?? YES!!! Play with your kids and your family. You and your kids will have a lot of fun.

"Banking system needs improvement", We played the electronic monopoly for the first time last night. The new properties and pieces were fun, but the biggest problem we had came from the banking system. With the new system of transferring money to and from accounts, the banker now has to be involved with EVERY transaction. In the standard Monopoly, if one player landed on another player's property, they just handed them the rent money. Now both players have to hand the banker their credit cards, and the banker has to transfer the money. It really gets to be a pain when the game is moving along, as it's way too easy to confuse whose card is whose if the game gets going quickly.
I know it's a bit out there in the future, but the ultimate solution would be to have wireless handsets, where each user wirelessly transfers money to and from each other and the bank. But at that point, why not just hand each other money?
"This electronic Bank Edition is the best Monopoly types", This electronic Bank edition is the best Monopoly types and its good for evary age
"Fun game but I miss the original places", It's nice to do away with all the paper money. It takes away the money counting skills younger kids should learn but makes the game much more enjoyable for older kids. (I'm 24 and my sister is 25 and we both still play board/video games.) Instead of spending a few hundred dollars to buy a property then rent for like 60 dollars everything has been changed to thousands and millions. Like 600K ($600,000) or 1.2M ($1,200,000). The places are from the "Here and Now Edition" not the original so you won't see Park Place or Boardwalk anymore... they have been replaced with Fenway Park and Times Square. Also, whoever decided to put the Liberty Bell and The White House on this game needs to be fired. Out national treasures are not and never will be put up for auction to the highest bidder like this game suggests. I realise it's just a game but it still bothers me. I would prefer the electronic banking edition also came in the original places like Marvin Gardens or Boardwalk. Then again, I was raised playing the original version.
Okay, back to the actual review. There are too few houses and hotels and I don't care for the tokens. Who would honestly pick the Altoids tin? Why is that even a "Here and Now" thing? Should of been a Laptop computer or some new Sports car. The electronic banking machine (Looks much like a regular calculator) is very simple to use so younger kids shouldn't have a problem with it after being shown how to do it.
"Its one of the best table games , Its bit difficult to play with cards i prefear to play with paper money :)))", Its one of the best table game , Its bit difficult to play with cards i prefear to play with paper money :)))
"Not impressed.", I suppose I'm a bit of a Monopoly purist, but I really just couldn't make myself enjoy this version of the game. Players have no idea how much money they have at any given point, and the inflation of the prices is unnecessary and makes keeping track of one's own spending mentally more difficult. On the plus side, though, cleanup is a breeze. One thing I think would improve the educational value of this version of the game greatly would be to add a check register for each player so that he or she can keep track of spending and so that kids can learn that credit cards really aren't an endless supply of money.
