Others say...
"Nice to look at but..." This game had some fun, nice looking graphics. Some of the interactions and tasks were very strange and non-ituitive like a homeless woman who won't give you any info unless you brought her a hotdog made only a certain. The story was developing in an interesting way until the finale. What the heck? It was very stupid and disappointing and you didn't even get anything in return for all of your hard work just a piece of some alien machinery that didn't work anymore. It wasn't terribly difficult but I enjoyed it as a pleasant diversion and it had some clever ideas. As for the previous comment about language, it was random and unnecessary and the speech throughout the game was stilted at times but the language was not pervasive and the rating "mild language" was appropriate.
""Mild" Language?" I am a big fan of adventure games in general, and got this game on vacation this summer. I had only played it a few minutes when there was a d**n and h**l. I expected this. In my mind that is "mild" language, however, that is not the extent of the severity of the language. Immediately following these words was a G-d**n. I really hate to spell it out, but I am a Christian and this type of language really offends me. I quit playing at this point, so I don't know how much more language there was (but judging by other reviews that I read elsewhere, there was quite a bit more of the same type). Other than the language this game looked very promising. The graphics were really nice, and the voice acting was good (just not what they were saying!). Just to be fair to the company, when I complained to them, they were really great about it and willingly replaced my game for a more appropriate fit. As a note: I would just like to say that I know that my opinion here will not be popular with some people, but I stand by it just the same. Thanks for reading! I hope this review was helpful.

What our customer's say!
"Some nice elements but mostly just dull", I like adventure games, and I've played most of the better ones out there. This one has some things going for it, but it has a LOT of flaws too. The first being that I just found it horribly, horribly boring.
Part of it is the story. The introduction seemed really rushed, so I ended up not really following what the whole point was, and then it didn't get any better. I'm actually not even done (I'd say I'm probably about two-thirds through), but I find it difficult to want to play it because I have no interest in getting to the end. I tend to like "mysterious happenings" and "old lab experiments" etc., but so far there has been a little bit of mystery and a lot of tedium. Most of the puzzles involve getting into a building, or getting a paper signed, or getting a hotel room. The mine was pretty cool, but the puzzles frustrated me, which leads me to the next point.
This game is VERY linear, which ordinarily doesn't bother me too much, but in this case was very annoying because the puzzles often don't make any sense. Solutions tend to be arbitrary or non-intuitive, and often after figuring out the answer I think to myself "Man, that's dumb!" Another reviewer mentioned a good example involving dynamite and a rat, which is both completely out of left field and rather gruesome.
The interface is also tricky - you have to use both the left and right mouse buttons to "use" and "examine" items, and it's not consistent throughout which one will make what work, so I took to right- and left-clicking all over which gets old fast. You also occasionally need to combine items in inventory, but this is also inconsistent as sometimes you have to do it *in* the inventory, and sometimes in a zoomed-in view.
I must admit that the graphics are quite good in most places, but nothing mind-blowing if you've been playing things like Syberia, which has phenomenal vistas and graphics. Also the music falls short - kind of creepy but nothing that really sticks.
The voice acting also annoyed me; much of the supporting voices are over-dramatic, and I actually really don't like the main character (me). He's ... just ... dull, states the obvious, and the dialogue implies that anyone who doesn't bend over backwards for him is mean.
In short, it might be worth ten bucks if you're a real die-hard adventure gamer, but in my opinion one of the better Her Interactive Nancy Drew games is more fun than this one.
"Meh", I really did not appreciate this game at all. I love the Adventure Company, puzzle, and Myst-type games. But this just didn't meet my expectations; luckily I waited for it to come down to ten dollars before buying it (it is almost worth ten dollars).
The voice acting was pretty terrible, the protagonist being the worst, most stilted voice in the game. And he was a jerk.
The puzzles, that is the real puzzles, were unimpressive but at least a little challenging. The rest of the game seemed to be filler with boring dialogue and "run around and collect stuff" plot.
Lastly, the game was buggy for me. Perhaps it is because I am running Vista. But it would frequently crash during a save or load--which is rather annoying.
The scenery was pretty, but not well done for a second person, two dimensional setting. The scenes in Syberia were much nicer.
I really don't recommend this game at all, unless you're a hardcore adventure gamer and have the time to kill.
"13th planet...arbitrary puzzle solutions", This is an old-style "adventure" game of the "director" sort, but with beautiful graphics. I just wish there were more games of this genre available. The price is right for this game.
The game's biggest defect is the arbitrariness of the puzzle solutions...there is unfortunately little logic or reasoning involved in some of them, like the "use banana with metronome" puzzle of an earlier era. It is therefore very important to save "early and often," to avoid being trapped by what appear to be irreversible detours down the wrong path. The game is definitely NOT non-linear.
"Very fun... but", This game is very fun. It holds your interest throughout the game. I think the graphics are just amazing. There aren't many characters, and I think some of the voice actors play more than one character.
There were two really hard puzzles. One made absolutely no sense. This is one when you're in the German mines where you have to build a rat trap, catch a rat from this insanely hard-to-find rat hole at the edge of one screen, and then tie dynamite to the rat and put it in a hole in order to open the secret door. That is just horrible! Why can't use just use the dynamite on the secret door instead of having to murder a rat in the process! Also, there is no hint at all that you need the rat, I had to look this thing up.
The other puzzle is a really hard puzzle with colored stones when you are in Mexico. It took me like 4 days and much frustration to solve. The problem was that I messed with it, and then saved so I couldn't use any of the walkthroughs that go from when you didn't move anything. I thought I would have to stop playing the game, but I finally got it to work. Let's just say it reminded me of my trials with Rubik's Cube... :-)
My last comment is that I was extremely annoyed by the main character. There is one scene where he insults a homeless woman again and again, and it almost made me cry because I could not do anything to change it.
I was going to give this 4, but I am changing it to 3 because of the homeless woman thing! Black Mirror is the same interface, and I enjoyed it a lot more, but this game is worth the money ($10?) because it has a lot of gameplay and the story holds your interest.
"must have", nibiru is a must have in any adventure library, nice colorful graphics, cool puzzles, i had lots of fun with this game...i love games like tunguska, black mirror, runaway, next life, broken sword.....its right up there....oh yeah and crime stories.....that was in this group too..we never seem to get that perfect adventure game that makes our jaws hit the floor...there is so much trash out there that costs time and money..this game was what i was looking for...you will be pleased
You might need this...
