"you will so regret it if you buy this"
OUTRAGEOUS piece of garbage. Not only is it a memory pig, it causes windows to crash. Our system was crippled while this software was installed. And I didn't isolate the problem until after the 30-day guarantee. So I'm out $50 + the many hours I spent trying to nurse my system along.

And it looks like the 2008 version has the same problems. Way to go, guys!

"Trendmicro's PC-cillin is a disaster and support is non-existent. "
PC-cillin 2007 blocked access to my network scanner and destroyed my "palm pilot hotsync software installation". It deleted other important files without providing a means to get them back. Furthermore, there's no way to fix these problems with PC-cillin installed. I emailed "TrendMicro Support" for help and they did email back but only to advised me to search through their support pages (which were of no help in this case). After two weeks of frustration, I finally uninstalled PC-cillin 2007. I had to use XP's "System Restore" to get my system back to where is was previously. PC-cillin might be OK if you have a very simple computer setup. But for me, PC-cillin was worse than a virus. I will never buy from "TrendMicro" again.

"Stay away"
A memory hog, a complicated, interfering interface and occasionally downright ineffective. I have a speedy processor and a lot of RAM, and still it slowed my computer down to a standstill. Trend-Micro did try to help, but nothing fixed the problem. Any other program is better than this. I uninstalled for good and went back to Norton, and now my computer is back to normal.

"Excellent Protection at an Affordable Price! A Must-Buy!"
For the 2006 year, I protected all of my computers with Symantec Norton Internet Security 2006. However, as the end of my subscription with Symantec came to an end, I noticed a favorite magazine of mine, Consumer Reports, had recently done a rating on security suites (which include anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall all in one convenient package).

My eyes quickly went to the top of the ratings list, and at the top of the list was this product: Trend Micro's pc-Cillin Internet Security 2007! I highly regard the reviews that Consumer Reports conducts, and can confirm their results - I love this internet security suite!

Installation was a breeze, and pc-Cillin automatically set itself up for automatic updates. Compared to what I was using before (Norton Internet Security 2006), pc-Cillin is noticeably better, as not only does it provide better protection, it does so without slowing my computers down like Norton did. Paired with Ad-Aware 2007, I have never had any nasty program, such as a virus, infect my computer!

If you're in the market for all-in-one protection for your computer, whether upgrading from separate programs or another company's internet security suite, you won't be disappointed if you purchase this! Trend Micro's pc-Cillin Internet Security 2007 provides excellent protection at an affordable price! In fact, it's cheaper than Norton and other products, AND has better protection and features! It's a must-buy!

What our customer's say!

"Junk!", Purchased 3-years of PC-Cillin with my Dell desktop. Useless and non-functioning (compliments the Dell quite nicely, actually). With two years of paid coverage remaining, I deleted this nightmare of a program entirely and went with Comcast's McAfee freebie.

"Buyers Beware this is a very poor product", I want to give it a zero rating but Amazon won't let me.

PC-Cillin was pre-installed on a Dell XPS Laptop I just recently purchased and it offers to protect up to 2 other computers in your home network for free for the duration of your 1yr membership. Well, 1 month, and about 10 emails to Trend Micro tech support later, I still can't get the thing installed on my 2nd computer. The additional serial numbers that came with my initial copy won't register. The first thing Trend Micro tech support told me to do was to reinstall and to download another copy. Well, buyers BEWARE when uninstalling Trend Micro using the Add/Remove funcion in Control Panel it may corrupt your drivers. I had to reformat my computer and reinstall Win XP because of it.

Also, if you ever have the misfortune of having to deal with their email tech support, your problem will be passed around constantly to different tech support agent and answers and solution will most likely be repeated...even though they didn't work the 1st or the 2nd time around. You will find yourself having to re-explain what the situation is over and over again. Trust me, Trend Micro belongs in the trash where I ended up throwing it. I will be uninstalling it from my XPS laptop just to make sure I don't have this garbage on my computer.

"Trend Micro PC Cillin", Do not buy this product. If you feel you must, buy it from Trend Micro website or you will not have a warranty. I bought Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2008 from Best Buy. It would lock up during a scan. After many attempts at getting service I ask for my money back. Trend Micro said they would not refund on a store product. Best Buy would not refund an opened product. So I am out $70.00. And they are still sending emails with no solution to the problem. I have ask them to stop sending emails but they are still comming. Worse than a virus.

"worked well for me", I purchased this particular package because it allows me to monitor my WIFI. That, as it turns out, is a bit cumbersome, since the monitoring window pops up frequently. However, installation was a breeze, not only for me, but both of my kids who did it on their own. Both times I received an email to let me know they had successfully installed the software. Ultimately, I think this is an excellent deal.

"NO support, hard to configure", NO SUPPORT AT ALL! This company doesn't seem to be able to afford any support people! Are they even still in business? The online support page doesn't respond for DAYS and the email support just answers with automated BS. I think they are already out of business and just keep on selling their stuff until the bitter end. I got a fully legal 3PCs authorization on eBay for 2.99 plus $2 shipping. Go figure! It's definitely not worth more! Even worse than Norton, if you can believe that!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Don't Buy", This company has lost the formula.

Their product quality has degraded to the point that its nearly worthless - it does seem to protect you from virus problems, but your computer may be unusable.

PC-cillin has a large number of processes that run all the time, so your computer will bog down, and your memory load will be high.

It won't honor the scan and update schedule that you set up, so your computuer will be busy doing that stuff when you want to work.

When you go to tech support, you'll find that the knowledge base is more like a stupidity base - poor search support, some problems not inculded even though they exist.

If you try to get help from a person, you will wait, and wait, and wait, and.....

The idea that you get what you pay for is a joke. The free virus stuff works better for me.

Yes, there do seem to be some computers and software combinations that still work OK with this product, but its a huge gamble. I have it on 3 machines of different types, and I have problems with all three of them.

"Expensive, but the best.", This was rated the best internet security software suite by Consumer Reports, and my subscription for Norton was up (Norton was not even on the Consumer Reports ratings list) so I figured I would give it a shot. Right away it found 10+ items, and removed them. In the three years I had Norton, it never once found any suspicious items on my computer. So, I am impressed with PC cillin so far.

"Takes up a lot of ram", It does a good job of protecting my computer, when I can use my computer. This product takes up a lot of RAM and so my computer takes forever to boot up and sometimes I have to go through my task manager to shut parts of it down just so I can work. I had the older version (2006) and that was far easier to use.

"Horrible Product, NIGHTMARE!!!", I bought the Trend Micro Internet Security Pro product three days ago, its been a nightmare ever since. Here is a list of problems-
1) After the product updated itself automatically, it has stopped working completely. I have been trying to reach customer service but with no results- twice I had to wait for more that 30 mins on phone without getting a customer service representative and I have also tried to catch someone via their online chat which took about 25 mins for me to get a response from them. After a long do-this list, the "agent" asked me to uninstall the entire product and reinstall it again.

2) The product comes with licence for 3 PC, when I installed this product on my 2nd PC it has caused my registries to be messed up so bad that the only way to make the PC working again would be to reinstall the OS causing me to loose all my files. Absolutely PATHETIC.

Buy this product if you want to dump ur PC away. A PC infected with virus would be a better alternative than this product.

"Yes, it's a hog, but it works", Like many others, I decided on Trend Micro's Internet Security because of the top ratings it got in Consumer Reports. I was aware of the down side because of other product reviews, but after I tried to figure out why some users seemed to have no problems, I thought I knew the key issues and installed it.

I used it to replace a Norton security package that I thought was a resource hog, interrupting work during start-up and with its randomly timed updates. Trend Micro is worse in this respect, but it tells you what it's doing so you have no doubt what's causing the interruption.

I have installed it twice --- once on a laptop with 1G of memory and a Vista operation system, then on a desktop with 512M of memory and Windows XP. It is the desktop where the problems are worst, in part because I don't shut it down when I'm through using it for a while. This is the system where Norton was originally installed, and with XP, Norton, and a few other resident programs, the PC was using about 400M with nothing else running. With Trend Micro, that figure is 520M with nothing else up. Initialization at start-up takes a little longer with Trend Micro, but the updates seem to be comparable in duration compared to Norton. I have 74G of data on my hard drive, and it takes Trend Micro between 4 and 6 hours to scan it compared with Norton at 3.5 to 4 hours.

DO NOT CONSIDER USING TREND MICRO WITH WINDOWS XP UNLESS YOU HAVE AT LEAST 512M OF MEMORY. With Vista, 1G is probably a good minimum.

Windows has a disconcerting habit of not collecting garbage when it is through with the memory, and as time progresses, it eats more and more memory if you don't shut down. Eventually, it won't come up after a time-out or it dies while you are trying to complete some work. The Trend Micro package exacerbates this by using more memory, and there may be further issues, but I haven't identified them yet.

When I installed Trend Micro, it deleted my Spybot spyware detection program without asking. I didn't appreciate that, but the Trend Micro package seems to have a good spyware detection component. It also required complete deletion of the Norton package, but at least this time it asked.

After my first disk scan, it had identified over 50 cookies of concern. The ones I recognized were indeed trolling for information. Of the files it identified as having viruses or trojans, many appeared to be part of Java. So far, none of my Java applications has been hit. The question I had was why Trend Micro picked these up and Norton didn't. Between the first scan and the second, I installed Open Office and nothing else. The second scan pulled up over a dozen viruses that appeared to come from Open Office, so right now I'm wondering if Trend Micro is being overzealous with its quarantines.

So with all these complaints, why did I give the Trend Micro product 4 stars? In spite of my trepidations with Trend Micro's virus identifications, it appears to be doing what it is supposed to do. As long as it keeps hackers from meddling with my PC, I will be satisfied. It seems to be doing its job without the catastrophic system slowdowns reported by some of the more dissatisfied users.
