"N Speed Extreme"
I'm very happy this this card. I have a D-Link Pre-N router (DIR-655) and the speed increase is amazing, even with only 6megs of internet to work with.

"Maybe it's just me but.."
Maybe it's just me but I went through 2 of these cards on my new HP laptops.. I say laptop(S) because I received the 1st D-Link card at the time I bought my new HP.. Installed the card using the D-Link software and nothing.. Called D-Link and talked to a tech.. He declared the card was bad because the lite wouldn't come on.. Sent the card back and much to Amazon's credit, I had a replacement in 2 days (very happy with their service).. Tried to install new card and samething, no lite to indicate it was working.. Decided the laptop must have issues so I sent it back and got a new one (happy with HP's service as well).. Got the new laptop and tried to install the card.. Again nothing.. No lites, no connection etc.. Called D-Link once again.. Same answer from t/s, send it back.. Like I said, maybe it's just me but I can't recommend this card after the poor D'Link t/s and the fact that I was never able to get 2 different cards working in 2 different pc's..

PS.. Both laptops were/are running Vista.. Not sure if that plays into it because God knows I've had my own issues with Vista as well..

"A must for those with an ExpressCard slot and a dir-655"
This product is designed to be matched with the DIR-655 and works flawlessly with it and at a very fast clock. Transferring files over wireless were never accomplished so quickly before. This card like many other products does not ship with a good Vista driver but all you have to do is goto their website and viola!

Vista gets a bad rap as does this card, case closed.

"Works really great until I dropped my laptop"
I dont know 802.11g 802.11b mumbo jumbo but I was very happy with this card. The wireless adapter in my laptop is on and off so my brother gave me this one. It was very easy to set up and worked great. Actually if I remember correctly I dont even think I had to install anything. The signal was strong enough that I could use neighbors internet if I wanted to, it was as fast as on my friends desktop who is directly connected. I have vista and havent had any problems mentioned, I dont know what these people are talking about. I cant find anything to complain about. I dropped my laptop on its side so the card broke, someone needs to create a bendable one! I'm ordering another.

"Works perfectly"
I have read the reviews about this card. I have had one on my Vista HP laptop for 6 months now and have had no problems at all. It works flawlessly and is very fast. I don't understand why people have had problems with this card and Vista but I haven't. Sleep and hibernation problems can be caused by a number of issues. Most common is the power setup in device manager for various devices on your computer. If they are allowed to wake the computer or not can affect the way sleep and hibernation work. Anyways, all I can say is this card works for me.

What our customer's say!

"xtreme-N Express card wireless adapter", This product does not seat properly into Express card slots. As a result this adapter frequently dislodges causing network disconnects.

"Fails To Meet Performance Claims", Installed the product in a fast Toshiba laptop running Vista. Product would only connect to my D-Link wireless-n router at 130Mbps. Calls to D-Link support have not helped. D-Link cardbus adapter in a much older/slower laptop connects at 300Mbps

"Computer couldn't be shut down with this card installed!", I installed the latest drivers via the dlink website as of this writing. The card worked wonderfully, far more range than my g card. Signal strength was excellent. It was great until I went to shutdown my Vista HP notebook. It would restart everytime unless I physically pulled out this card before shutting down.

I even went so far as a fresh install, same exact thing, restart on shut down everytime. How frustrating. I've read where another person had this exact same flaw happen with their HP notebook. It must be an incompatibility with HP notebooks and at least this expresscard. BTW, everything was updated on the notebook, ie Service Pack 1, and all the HP updates including the latest notebook bios firmware.

I thought about just pulling it whenever I shut down, but ruled against that because I paid for this thing to work better than that. Give me some good luck with my next expresscard, the linksys, fingers crossed.

"Works Great!", The Xtreme N Express Card installed with no problem, except afterward you need to go to "Connect" on your start menu, and find your home wireless network, and then click on it. The directions don't tell you to do that. Otherwise, it won't connect. Makes sense.

It had all the VISTA drivers, so it was really no problem to install, and works fine. It is defintely faster than the G connector that came installed on my laptop.

"Its so so ", I looked at the this after my 1505 experience with Dell's N wireless. I have a Dlink 655 router and tested this card against the Dell 1505. On reading from a Dlink NAS (1gb) over a 1gig connection between the NAS and the router and a N network the 1505 was acheiving 6mbs and so was the DWA643. On writing the 1505 was about 3.2mbs and the DWA643 was about 6mbs. However I noticed the DWA643 dropping and totally failed and diconnected a few times. The 1505 was fine and sat at the same speed. To be honest I felt the DWA643 was somewhat flakey.

"A Nightmare on Vista", Note: I have the corresponding Xtreme-N wirless router from DLink and am extremely happy with it. However this is my experience with this wireless adapter:

(1) Does not install properly on Vista. If you allow Windows native installation to find and install a driver for it, it installs it as 'DLink Ranger Booster' (which it is of course not). Using the installation on the accompanying CD, worked on the third attempt, but then connected to home network with networth strength of 'FAIR' compared to 'EXCELLENT' that I got with my older, built-in wirless g adapter!

(2) Copying a file from my laptop to a network folder transferred at 50kB/s; compard to 2.6 MB/s I get on my built-in wireless G adapter (that's a MB not a Mb/sec).

I am extremely disappointed that DLINK would release this with such poor driver support for Vista. I love their xtreme-N router, and was so excited about transferring files at xtreme-N speeds, but this card is pushing me a million step backwards (50kB/s compared to 2.6MB/sec). No take this card back please, thank you very much.

"801.11n", This device does not give any wheres near the double the range in my environment over a 801.11G product so I returned it.

"Draft N means rough draft", I'm a computer tech and I know electronics very well. I was a bit on the fence about draft N to begin with but after testing out this card, I know it's all just talk. If 802.11n works, it doesn't work with Windows. This card does not work with Vista or XP Pro, Home, or Media.

It doesn't stream HD like it says, it doesn't transfer files any faster, and it takes more power. If it transfers at over 54mbps, I'd like to know exactly what it transfers at that speed. Because it's not data.

I received incompetent help from D-Link regarding this issue. They just asked me things like "did you install the utility?" or "do you have the latest driver" when my email detailed every single step I took. Which, by the way, was every possible step I could take. I received an email once a week asking me one simple question. Not a detailed list of possible questions. I waited an entire week for a response, and received one question. I answered, then waited another week. If this is D-Link's idea of help, I could mail a letter to them faster than that.

First off, I custom set my Extreme N router and found out, for some strange reason, this card wouldn't connect to it via 11n. So I had to reset my router and reconfigure everything. It connected, my system said connected at 300mbps, and it had good range. The problem was, it was just as fast as the built-in 54mbps 11g on my laptop.

So for nearly twice what a wireless 11g card costs, you can get this option, or just get a wireless g which is just as fast. With all of the most recent working drivers and firmware and all updates for windows, this did nothing more than tell me it was connected at speeds it wasn't. Draft N doesn't work, not yet anyway. If it does, it's not on a Windows system. The method it uses is almost a bootstrap device driver that encapsulates your TCP/IP connection. It's not a true connection like 11g or 11b. I guess I should have noticed this is a rough draft, not a final one.

"NOT READY FOR VISTA", The Xtreme N Express Card does not work with Microsoft Vista. The drivers do not work and they prevent the computer from shutting down properly. Technical Support at D-Link was not useful. Do not use this card if you have Windows Vista. I uninstalled the drivers after removing the card and the computer did shut down properly.

"Not Ready for Vista", The speed of this card with the D-Link N router is impressive. However, when installed on my HP laptop running Vista premium, the laptop would not shut down properly. When the card was installed, the laptop would automatically restart everytime after shutdown. The only way to stop the laptop was to force a shutdown by holding the power button down. The D-Link Vista drivers are beta only and won't install since they do not work for the DWA-643. When I emailed D-Link about the problem and that the Vista drivers were wrong they just emailed instructions on how to install the bad drivers which did not work.
