"Pretty great for the price.", It does what I wanted it to so I'm happy with it. I wanted a DVD player that would play .avi files and could not find a single one that I could actually afford. I tried my luck with this and it plays them! The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because it will occasionally take a couple of opening and closing the drawer for a burned DVD to load.

"A good value", Received this new DVD player yesterday and used it to watch a movie last night. It sets up easily and give good picture and sound. It seems to be a good value from a brand name consumers can trust.

Minor cons: a bit noisy when you turn it on and load a DVD, but the noise subsides once it is playing. In any event, this shouldn't be a dealbreaker if you want a quality player and a decent price.

"Flawless installation and performance", Pulled it out of the box, plugged it to the power and the TV, and that's it. All the features one needs, great picture, great sound. Looks good, too.

"It is what it is", Its just that, its a dvd player. What more can I say. It works, plays all types of media. Does what its supposed to.

"Dont buy did not last a year", We bought this dvd player and used it maybe once a week, it is up and away from the kids so we were very gentle with it... two things have happened first if it was on for a while the picture would turn greenish then I would turn it off then on again to solve that problem, then one day at about 8 month point the motor just stopped... it could never play another DVD again, I tried to contact the people that sold it to me on amazon and asked what they recommend I do and never heard back from them. go figure!
if you want a cheap player and are fine with replacing it after 6 or so months then go for it... oh one more thing there is no scanning forward really bc it hard to do and jumps from chapter to chapter which if very annoying if you are trying to find a specific part you will get frustrated!

"Great DVD player for DVD from all countries!", Great DVD. Works really well and is easy to make Multi-region. Much better than our previous jwin Multi-region DVD which was flimsy and broke.

"great product", Great product. Not suitable if you have hi-def TV or plan to buy one. For my 8-year old TV, it is great. And it's hard to beat the price.

"Great Affordable Region Free DVD Player!!", DVD Player works as a great Region Free rig once the code found in earlier reviews is typed in! Very simple to do and very effective. I now use it to view my Japanese, Chinese and Korean DVDs as well as DVDs that my other (more expensive) DVD player has trouble with.

Worth the 40 bucks!

"Very good picture", The 12 bit video chip Phillips brags about seems to give a better picture, using component video, than my older DVD players. The digital audio cable output works just fine. The unit is nicely compact, even portable. The remote has very weak signal strength (reason for only four stars). For $36, a great value.
