"this game rocks!"
This game is really fun. It's more fun than the first one. I like playing the thing. This game rocks! It is confusing in some parts, but it's is pretty simple.

"About what you'd expect"
Movie based video game tie-in's are traditionally not very good, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is no different. Pretty much following the plot of the film, FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer allows you to play as Marvel's first family in this derivative beat 'em up as you embark on a mission to take down the Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom, and save the planet. If you played the first game based on the first film, or any other licensed beat 'em up for that matter, you already know what to expect here. The graphics are really bland, and the game itself is easy to quickly breeze through as well. Besides taking down hordes of enemies, you'll have mission objectives like unlocking doors and the like; all of which becomes boring very, very quickly, and the beat 'em up action itself isn't done all that well either. You can switch between the FF, but there aren't many overall differences between the team members besides their main abilities. Not to mention, and here's what really bothered me, for a game that's supposed to follow the story of the movie it's based on, just where is Galactus? Considering the role the planet eating monster played in the film (as well as the comic that inspired all of this in the first place) his absence is inexcusable. All in all, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nowhere near as good or as fun as Activision's X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance series of games, both of which you are much better off with than this derivative cash-in.

"Finally, four players!"
Both PS2 and Wii versions support four players, which obviously makes sense with the Fantastic FOUR. You can join in at any time which is nice. Really fun to play with other people - kind of like a more action-oriented version of XMen Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance. A good, fun action game - not too deep, but definitely a good time.

What our customer's say!

"It's Clobberin' Time Again", Fantastic Four 2 is a very fun game. i think all Fantastic Four fans will love this game. i did.

"underrated", i was looking at the game features on gamespot and they gave it a 2 out of 10. that is a total understatement. Fan4Rise is a great game that complements the movie to the letter, and than some. featuring the ability to switch characters at any time makes it bigger and better than the previous game. its a whole lot of fun.

"Wonderful gameplay", I bought it to playstation 2 but it was wrong TV-system so i got the PS3 version and it's wonderful gameplay.Fantastic story, gameplay, diverse and fun.
I am a fan of Marvel so it's perfect for me.I like almost every marvel game.
Great graffic.

"Be Careful!", This game was far too short. I finished this on the easy level in about eight and a half hours. I did not find the environments/fights to be exciting enough. Although based somewhat on the movie, I had hoped it would have encompassed more of the Fantastic Four/Marvel Universe. After playing the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which was superb, I had high standards; this game did not come close to meeting those standards.

"Strictly One For The Younger Kids", After seeing the movie recently, I took my son to the local Best Buy and picked up a copy of Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. He was excited about getting to play the characters from the movie. We had purchased the first Fantastic 4 game and he had a good time with that. According to the reviews I read, this game was supposed to be even better.

The graphics in the game are really good. The colors are vibrant and pop from the screen. There's plenty of action because there's always something to do throughout the game. My son and I were kept busy solving simple puzzles to open doors to other rooms and hallways. In between all that, we were constantly under attack from the bad guys.

The game doesn't progress as the movie did. Although there are many references to Sue and Reed's wedding coming up, the Silver Surfer doesn't come into the game still much later. When we first opened up the game and started playing, and found out the first bad guys we faced were the Skrulls, I was really surprised. There were no Skrulls in the movie.

The game evidently had to put more villains and more side treks into the play to boost the game time up. Even though I was expecting gameplay to be quite repetitive, it became even more repetitive than I would have believed. However, it proved into retaining to my nine year old. He had a blast listening to the barrage of insults between the Thing and the Human Torch. (He played the Thing and I played the Human Torch. Ben Grimm is his favorite character, but that's fine because when I was his age that thing was my favorite character too.) My son also added insult to injury by coming up with quips and barbs about me as we played, definitely getting into the role of our onscreen personas.

The gameplay not only lacks originality, but it also has some very frustrating viewing angles. Sometimes it's hard to see what you need to see in a room. I missed doors and hallways, but my eagle-eyed katas spotted them every time and got us back on track. He also possesses a phenomenal memory because there were times I would have gotten us lost backtracking and he insisted he knew the way. He did. And, of course, that triggered even more insulting commentary.

The one thing I missed about this game was the ability to fight each other. I would've loved flying his butt occasionally just to show him who the boss was.

The dialogue, for the most part, was pretty good. It kept the story linear as much as is possible (especially in a game that was so decidedly linear that you could lose track of who was doing what when out of sheer mindless repetition) and provided a few laughs.

FANTASTIC 4: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER probably won't win any game awards for creative gameplay, but it sure is pretty to look at and it brings fathers and sons closer together everywhere. While we were off saving the world, exchanging insults and beating up bad guys, it also kept us out of my wife's hair for hours, which I'm sure she appreciated during the summer months.
